The present invention relates to a complementary movement member device with which moving objects are fitted.
In mechanical workshops, electrical workshops, hospital operating rooms and other premises, it is noted that the floor is often crossed by a certain number of electric cables, or by mechanical devices and hydraulic or mechanical conduits having a flexibility comparable to a cable, which are located on the floor without being attached to it:
If, in such rooms, furniture like
Serving-Boy, stools, small work tables, or other mobile devices connected or not to an energy source, provided with rolling elements such as casters, rotating spheres or ball bearings, we immediately come up against the problem of displacement said objects which remain blocked because of the cables extending on the floor without being fixed there.
The problem is usually solved by the users either by lifting the moving piece of furniture, for example using casters or spheres, so as to be able to overcome the obstacle, or by pushing the obstacle away from the point shoes. It is obvious that such a solution is awkward. In the first case, it requires lifting objects which can be heavy or which carry delicate containers which must not be overturned. In both cases, there is a risk of damaging the cables or unhooking them from their sockets, with risks for user safety and loss of time during work.
The problem also arises for machines which move by members different from casters or rotating spheres. Just think of the problem of the vacuum cleaner during work, which risks hanging electrical cables to which the machine is attached.
In the same field of objects, we must think of any mobile machine, for example, by means of pads and needing to be attached to an electrical outlet via a cable.
The device according to the present invention makes it possible to solve the problem indicated above with very simple and inexpensive means.
The device according to the invention is characterized in that it consists of a shoe at least partially surrounding the base of the member for moving the mobile object, capable of pushing in front of it all cables and other obstacles clogging up the surface on which the moving object is supposed to be able to move.
The device can be applied to any movement system located at the base of the mobile object.
The invention will be better understood with the aid of the accompanying drawings by way of example, in which: FIG. I represents a stool that can move over a surface traversed by electric cables using the device object of the invention; fig. 2 shows the device according to the invention, fixed to the axis of a caster, which is offset relative to the vertical axis of the pivot to which the caster itself is fixed; fig. 3 shows a second embodiment, in which the shoe with the appearance of a skirt superimposed on a rolling sphere.
In fig. 1, the invention is shown applied to a stool which can be moved by means of four casters I having the axis offset relative to the pivot 2. The shoe 3 according to the invention is fixed to the axis of the caster. The detail of this embodiment of the device is shown in fig. 2, where it can be seen that the device is fixed to the offset axis of the caster, by means of a bolt 4 and a nut. The shoe is made of a material on which the rubber of an electric cable (5) can slide with the least possible friction, for example metal. In a preferred embodiment, not shown, the upper end of the shoe is provided with a stop preventing the cable from sliding upwards.
In another embodiment, not shown, the device will be fixed to the pivot of the caster. When the axis of the caster is offset and the device is pivoting, it will suffice that it is disposed on the side opposite the caster relative to the axis of the pivot to always be in the direction of travel. There is then no need for it to surround the roulette on the 360.
As shown in fig. 1, the shoe according to the invention makes it possible to move an electric cable 5 which is located on the movement line of the stool. The electric cable is lifted by the edge 6 parallel to the displacement surface and comes to bear against the substantially vertical position of the shoe, so that it is pushed back in front of the piece of furniture moved without interfering with the rolling of the rollers.
Another embodiment is shown in FIG. 3, in which the device according to the invention is applied to rolling members in the form of spheres 7. The shoe 3 takes on the appearance of a skirt split lengthwise and which comprises two fins 8 pierced with holes allowing the passage of a bolt 4 for fixing the skirt to the foot 9 of the piece of furniture. The skirt completely surrounds both the sphere 7 and the fixed semi-spherical shell 10 in which is housed the sphere 7, which serves as a rolling member.
In an embodiment not shown, the device can be integral with the fixed semi-spherical shell itself, so as to form a skirt around the rolling sphere and form the shoe necessary to move the cables during the movement of the piece of furniture. In this embodiment in particular, it may be useful to integrate the shoe in a one-piece construction.
In the embodiments hitherto mentioned, the hoof
surrounded individual displacement members, when it was not directly attached to it. In a different embodiment, not shown, the shoe runs along the base of the movable part and simultaneously surrounds all of the displacement members with which it is provided.
The device according to the invention is used to push in front of it all cables and other obstacles not fixed to the displacement surface. This does not exclude that it is retractable to allow the piece of furniture to cross irremovable obstacles such as steps of prominent doors. Thus, in an embodiment not shown, the shoe is fixed not directly on the two ends of the axis of the caster 1, but at the end of two springs arranged obliquely on the support 1 1 of the caster 1 , compressible when struck with an irremovable obstacle. When the shoe comes into contact with an obstacle, the shoe reacts to the shock to a certain extent in an elastic manner and rises in a slight backward movement when the resistance of the obstacle is too great.
It should be noted that, if the hoof is provided with a rim, 6, an obstacle-forming cable is lifted by this rim and moved suitably even if its size or its weight would cause a slight elevation of the hoof, while a threshold or other obstacle secured to the displacement surface hits the edge without being loaded therein, so that the shoe rises properly to allow the wheel I to cross the obstacle.
Nothing prevents, moreover, from adapting the device according to the invention to a displacement member specially adapted to overcome obstacles. The use of such rolling members is in itself known for the devils (carriages) of the deliverers of goods. These members consist of three close-fitting casters having the parallel axes inscribed in the geometric shape of a substantially equilateral triangular prism, said axes being capable of pivoting between them around a central axis to which their ends are connected by two three-pointed stars. . In an embodiment not shown, adapted to such a rolling member, a shoe is fixed by its ends to the branches of each of the three rollers.
When the rolling member crosses a threshold, the three axes pivot between them and the wheel shoe, hitherto immobile, comes to be placed in front of it so as to repel any obstacles encountered on the new rolling surface, while the caster and the front shoe are folded back and the caster and the rear shoe move to the high, stationary position. It should be noted that, in this embodiment, each of the three shoes is itself slightly pivotable relative to the star branches to which it is connected and has a substantially symmetrical stop at the projecting rim 6; far from hampering the movement of the caster folded back, the folded shoe will fully fulfill its function in the event of reversing the piece of furniture.
Finally, it should be noted that the device according to the invention can not only be applied to pieces of furniture delivered from the factory - for example in one-piece constructions -, but that it can be adapted by the user himself to pieces of furniture already used. This applies to the two embodiments shown in the drawings, and in particular that shown in FIG. 3, adjustable by means of the longitudinal slot and the bolt 4.
