5. Device according to claims 3 and 4, characterized in that the fluid is a hydraulic liquid.
The present invention relates to a device for cutting a tube.
On the tube cutting machines currently found on the market, the tube is cut by removing material using a toothed circular saw or reciprocating saws.
These systems have some drawbacks which cannot always be tolerated. Among these is the waste of material removed in the form of chips.
The percentage of this waste may be insignificant when cutting long pieces, but it becomes important in the case of short cuts. Another drawback noted is in the burrs remaining on the outside of the part and which are even greater when the blade loses its sharpening.
In addition, there is also the following problem: because of the use of coolant and / or coolant for cutting, the cut tubes fall from the machine covered with chips and greasy. Therefore, they should be washed and degreased. Finally, the time required to cut with a saw remains quite high.
The present invention aims to provide a device for cutting the tubes while essentially avoiding the drawbacks mentioned above.
This device is defined, in its general concept, in independent claim 1 while practical or preferred embodiments are the subject of dependent claims.
To allow a better understanding of the invention, reference is made to the attached drawing, schematically showing a preferred form of the embodiment of this invention. Specifically, fig. 1 shows a longitudinal section of the device used to cut tubes with two circular knives and rotating around its axis with a planetary movement.
Fig. 1 shows how the device essentially consists of a support upright 2 fixed on a base 3. Inside the support upright are housed two ball bearings 4 serving as support for the rotary shaft 5 rotated by the rotating body 6, with which it forms a single piece using countersunk screws 7.
The rotating body 6, in turn, is rotated by the transmission belt 8 driven by an electric motor not shown. In the rotating body 6 are housed two small pivotable brackets 9 having, at the two ends of the sides, two circular lobes 10 and 11.
The two small brackets 9 can pivot around the pin 12, integral with the rotating body, and are actuated by the piston 13 which is coaxial with the longitudinal axis of the device.
In the piston 13 is the circular groove 14 in which the lower lobes 11 of the pivotable brackets 9 are housed.
The particular shape of the two small brackets shows in an obvious way that, with each axial displacement relative to the longitudinal axis of the lobes 11, corresponds a radial movement of the lobes 10.
This radial movement is transmitted to the two small knife-carrying carriages 15 by the grooves 16, into which the lobes 10 are inserted.
These small carriages carry the shafts 17 by bearings 18 and allow them to rotate freely.
On the shafts 17 are mounted the circular knives 19 made of super-fast steel with the sharpened circular part, so as to have cutting angles corresponding to the material to be cut. At the opposite part of the support upright is the rotating flange 20 forming a single piece with the rotary shaft 5 by the thread 21. In this rotating flange 20 is machined the cylinder 22, in which the piston 23 slides.
In the front part of the piston rod 23a (to the right in the figure) is a conical seat 24 which, moving axially, causes the expandable clamp 25 contained in the ring 26 to contract. This contraction allows the clamping of the tube to be cut 27.
The movement of the piston is obtained by sending air or oil into line 28 to tighten the tube or into line 29 to loosen it.
The movement of the knives is obtained towards the longitudinal axis by moving the piston 13 by sending air or oil into the pipe 30 to make the cut and into the pipe 31 to spread the knives after having made the cut.
The rotating body 6 and the rotating flange 20 turn relative to the fixed support 2 and, since it is necessary to pass oil or air from the fixed support to the rotating supports, there are, on the walls contact, seals consisting of an O-ring 32 and a circular ring of anti-friction material 33.
The device described above operates as follows:
The tube to be cut 27 is introduced into the clamp 25 and makes it protrude relative to the knives as a function of the length which it is desired to cut. Then directing the hydraulic fluid in line 28, it causes blocking. Then sending the hydraulic fluid into the pipe 30, the two knives 19 are brought into contact, which, turning around the part, gradually cut it out until the cut.
After this operation, an end-of-travel microswitch causes the hydraulic liquid to be sent into the pipe 31 and the pipe 30 to be evacuated, so that the knives leave the part. At the end of the removal of the knives, another microswitch controls the opening of the clamp. As a result, the liquid is evacuated from the pipe 28 and sent into the pipe 29. Then, the tube returns forward and the abovementioned operations are repeated.
It is obvious that several knives 19 can be provided instead of the two drawn.
The tube to be cut can be clamped by hydraulic or pneumatic pressure. Those skilled in the art will also understand that all of the operations described can be controlled by an automation device, since their succession is well determined.
From what has been said, it follows that the tube is cut neither by removing material nor by shearing material, but by displacement by means of at least two knives which, while they rotate around the tube, penetrate into its material, approaching at the same time the axis of the tube.
The device described has the following advantages:
- there are no shavings to remove,
- there is no more waste of material and energy,
- the cut is smoother, and a possible burr is directed towards the inside of the tube,
- the cutting is faster,
there is no longer any need for lubrication or cleaning of the parts after cutting,
- there are no more chips adhering to the parts,
- circular knives are cheaper than saw blades or diamond blades,
- the work is less noisy.
