REVENDICATIONS

Valves are known with incorporated filter comprising, in the same body, on the one hand, a ball valve or the like and, on the other hand, a filter. These devices are generally placed side by side, but the essential access to the filter and the tap remain independent and require separate rosettes or plugs, or a large common cover. The multiplicity of necessary accesses constitutes a major drawback, in particular when it comes to walling devices. In addition, in these known devices, the filter can generally be removed while the valve is still open, which can cause inadvertent leaks. Finally, the provision of a shut-off valve upstream of a filter does not exclude, when the filter is dismantled, leaks that may result from a backflow of the downstream pipe.
The invention aims first of all to provide an apparatus ensuring both the stopcock and filter functions, in which the filter can be dismantled by the rosette or the conventional valve cover.
This valve, according to the invention, is defined in claim 1.
In a preferred embodiment defined in claim 2, the filter can only be removed when the valve plug is in its closed position, to avoid any risk of leakage.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the valve object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an axial section thereof, in the valve opening position.
Fig. 2 is a plan view, according to arrow F in FIG. 1.
Figs. 3 and 4 are sections respectively along lines 3-3 and 4-4 of FIG. 1.
Fig. 5 is an axial section thereof, in the valve closed position and the filter disassembled.
The tap shown has a body 1 provided with two fittings 2 and 3 arranged in line and opening into a central chamber in which is housed the rotating part of the ball valve.
This rotating part comprises a plug 5 and a control head 6, these two parts, made integral in rotation by two latching lugs 7 of the plug, engaged in corresponding notches 8 of the head, being axially separable (fig. 5) .
The plug 5, which is retained in the body by a screw 9 (fig. 5), is pierced with two openings 11 arranged in line and opening into an inner chamber 12, and comprises an outer sheath 13 of plastic or rubber which on the one hand, seals the plug in the body and which, on the other hand, facilitates its rotation without risk of seizing.
The head 6 has at its periphery two diametrically opposite ears 14 which are housed in recesses 15 extending at an angle of 90, as visible in FIG. 3. The recesses 15 are formed in a ring 16 made integral with the body 1, by forced adjustment, bonding or crimping. The ring 16 has two diametrically opposite grooves 17 located at one end of the recesses 15. The head 6 and the ring 16 together constitute a bayonet assembly allowing the head 6 to turn 90 while driving the plug 5, while the head is retained under the ring 16, or to be withdrawn axially through the anterior opening of the body formed by the fairway 4 of the ring 16, as shown in FIG. 5, when the ears 14 have been brought opposite the grooves 17.
During its removal, the head 6 is released from the latching tabs 7 of the plug 5, which remains in the body 1, in its angular closed position shown in lafig. 5.
The head 6 has at its base a diametral rib 18, of cross section and in the shape of an inverted T, serving as a support for a removable filter constituted by a cylindrical housing 19, made of plastic material, that a trellis 21, arranged diametrically, shares in two chambers 22 and 23 provided with openings 24 situated opposite the openings 11 of the plug. Other methods of fixing the filter can be envisaged in variants.
The filter housing 19 has the same circular section as the interior chamber 12 of the plug to which it closely fits and has a cup-shaped lower portion 20 forming a bottom in this chamber.
The head 6 has six-point screws 25 and 26 and threads 27 and 28 allowing the engagement of tools used to bring it, either in the open position of the plug shown in FIG. 1, or, after rotating a quarter turn, in its closed position. In the open position (fig. 1), the filter 21 is arranged across the passage established between the fittings 2 and 3.
In the closed position of the plug, the ears 14 of the head 6 are opposite the grooves 17 of the ring 16, and the head can then be removed from the body 1, by means of a tool 30 for example - as illustrated in fig. 5 -, by the front opening 4 of the latter, driving with it the housing 19 of the filter, engaged on the rib 18. The housing and its filter are thus removed from the plug 5, while the latter is in angular position closing.
We can then clean the filter and the bottom of the housing 19 in which may have accumulated retained impurities, or change
the housing and the filter completely, the housing 19 being slidably mounted on the rib 18 and being able to be released laterally from the head 6.
The ring 16 has an external screw thread allowing the mounting of a removable cap, a spacer tube, or a rosette with or without a valve control handle.
In a variant, the screw 9 retaining the plug 5 could be eliminated, this plug having for example a tubular shape and being retained in the body 1, during the removal of the head 6 and of the filter, either simply because of its elastic engagement in the body cavity, either by other retaining means, for example by an elastic ring.
The filter can be of any kind and, in the case of a lattice, it can be of curved shape or the like, in order to present a larger filtration surface.
The valve shown has the following advantages:
a) The stop and filter functions are concentrated in a single device of reduced size.
b) The removal of the filter, for cleaning or replacement, can only be carried out once the plug is in the closed position, without risk of incorrect operation.
c) In this closed position (essential to allow the filter to be removed), the two upstream and downstream connections are closed, which avoids having to empty the installation.
d) Dirt and foreign bodies retained by the filter and which accumulate in the bottom of the filter housing are removed from the piping at the same time as the filter.
The arrangement of the filter in the bushel of the stop valve allowing these two devices to be grouped in a small space, and the possibility of removing the filter by the rosette or the valve cover while the flow is interrupted on both sides of the valve , downstream and upstream, are particularly advantageous for sanitary or other equipment intended to be walled.
