Des weiteren ist auch das Herstellen der durchgehenden Öffnungen in den Klötzen relativ aufwendig und teuer, da dies nur mittels spezieller Formen erfolgen kann. Der Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, eine Palette der eingangs beschriebenen Art so zu verbessern, dass sie eine hohe Festigkeit und Tragfähigkeit bei geringem Gewicht und niedrigen Herstellungskosten aufweist und ihre Festigkeit auch bei Feuchtigkeitseinfluss erhalten bleibt. Zur Lösung dieser Aufgabe ist gemäss der Erfindung vorgesehen, dass die Boden-und Deckplatte je aus einer Hartfaser- oder Presspanplatten mit einer Dicke von 1,6 bis 6 mm, vorzugsweise 3,2 mm, bestehen. Eine derartig ausgestaltete Doppeldeck-Palette eignet sich aufgrund ihres sehr geringen Gewichtes und ihren niedrigen Herstellungskosten ausgezeichnet als Einweg-Palette, und es ergibt sich beispielsweise gegenüber den herkömmlichen Holzpaletten eine materialbedingte Kosteneinsparung von rund 25 %. Darüber hinaus hat die erfindungsge-mässe Palette eine überraschend grosse Steifigkeit bei einem sehr geringen Gewicht, das in einer typischen Ausführung z. B. 6 kg beträgt. Die hohe Festigkeit und Tragfähigkeit der erfin-dungsgemässen Palette resultiert im wesentlichen aus der grossflächigen Verklebung zwischen den Klötzen und der Boden- bzw. Deckplatte. Hierbei ist es insbesondere wichtig, dass von der Bodenplatte ebenfalls eine Tragefunktion übernommen wird. Dies ist z. B. bei der aus dem DE-GM 74 39 564 bekannten Palette nicht der Fall, da dort eine Bodenplatte nicht vorhanden ist, wodurch sich eine wesentlich geringere Tragfähigkeit ergibt.
