Known installations for the dehydration of agricultural products include means for continuously transporting a product to be dehydrated passing through an enclosure in which air circulates, the product resting on a surface permeable to air, and means for heating for the air which circulates in general against the current of the direction of movement of the product.
Installations of this type are generally bulky in relation to their production capacity, which has the consequences of a great heat loss, on the one hand and, on the other hand, an alteration of the products treated, since it is necessary to overheat the air to compensate for heat loss.
The object of the invention is to improve the efficiency of the installations for the dehydration of agricultural products so that, for the same production, it is possible to reduce the volume of the installation and therefore to remedy the abovementioned drawbacks.
The installation according to the invention is characterized in that the enclosure comprises partitions arranged substantially perpendicular to the general direction of movement of the air, so as to form successive chambers through which said means of transport pass, the successive chambers being connected in series by air connection ducts, and the parts of each chamber upstream and downstream of the means of transport being connected by a recycling duct, fans arranged at one end of said ducts ensuring the circulation of the air.
The accompanying drawing shows, schematically and by way of example, an embodiment of the installation for the dehydration of agricultural products, object of the invention, as well as two variants.
Fig. 1 is a partial perspective view of an installation.
Figs. 2 and 3 are schematic sectional views of two variants.
The installation for the dehydration of agricultural products, shown in fig. 1, comprises three conveyor belts 1, 2 and 3 arranged horizontally on three levels superimposed in an enclosure 4. These conveyor belts 1, 2 and 3 are permeable to air, so that the hot air can pass through a layer of products to dehydrate deposited on these carpets.
The products to be dehydrated are introduced into the installation on the highest conveyor belt 1 through an opening 5 formed in a wall of the enclosure 4 near one of the ends of this carpet 1. This product is transported horizontally by the treadmill I to its other end where it falls on the treadmill 2 which is on a lower level. The passage of the product from the carpet 2 to the carpet 3 is done in the same way, the product leaving the enclosure 4 through an opening 6 opposite the end of the carpet 2 to be reintroduced into the enclosure 4 through an opening 7 next to the mat 3.
The enclosure 4 has an air intake mouth 8 at its lower part and an exhaust chimney 9 at its upper part. Partitions 10 and 11 are arranged horizontally between the conveyor belts, so as to form for each of them a separate chamber 12, 13 and 14. The partitions 10 and 11 are narrower than the enclosure 4 to leave, on a side of the enclosure 4, passages 15 for the air between two successive chambers.
A plate 16 is arranged between the upper wall of each chamber 12, 13 and 14 and the respective conveyor belt 1, 2 and 3 which it contains. This plate 16 delimits two conduits: a connecting conduit 19 connecting two successive chambers, and a recycling conduit 20 connecting the upper part of a chamber to its lower part, these parts being respectively above and below the conveyor belt .
In each chamber 12, 13 and 14, the air is heated by a heating body 17 placed next to the conveyor belt, respectively 1, 2, 3, then is sent under this conveyor belt by one or more fans 18. The air then passes through the conveyor belt and the products to be dehydrated arranged on this conveyor belt, to reach the upper part of the chamber. From there, part of the air is evacuated to the next chamber by the connection duct 19 while the rest of the air borrows the recycling duct 20 to be heated by the heating body 17 and reinjected under the same carpet. rolling. The proportion between the recirculated air and the exhaust air depends on the ratio of the sections of the recycling and connection conduits.
In the construction illustrated in fig. 1, the sections of these two conduits being substantially the same, the flow rates of exhaust air and recycled air are substantially the same.
The performance of the installation described above is due to the fact that, thanks to the partial recycling of the air, the apparent flow through the product to be dehydrated is greater than the actual flow of the air consumed by the installation. . This increase in the apparent air flow, in addition to better use of the air introduced, results in an increase in the speed of the air in the product to be dehydrated, resulting in a better transfer coefficient and better efficiency by unit area of the mat.
Fig. 2 schematically shows in section an installation of the same type as that illustrated in FIG. 1 and in which the fans 18 are placed upstream of the connection and recycling conduits, while heating bodies 21 are arranged on the side of the conveyor belts in the lower part of each chamber. The heating bodies 21 are supplied with steam working in closed cycle with a boiler, not shown.
The condensation water coming from these heating bodies is brought into a radiator 22 before returning to the boiler. This radiator 22 therefore makes it possible to obtain preheating of the fresh air before it passes through the heating body 21 of the lower stage.
Fig. 3 shows a variant of the installation which is similar to the embodiment according to FIG. 1 for the two lower floors. However, the upper floor has
radial fans 23 instead of axial fans, so as to obtain a greater air difference. Indeed, the fresh products are brought into this upper stage and form a relatively thick layer on the conveyor belt 1. As a result,
The air which has to pass through this layer of products to be dried undergoes a much higher pressure drop than when it passes through the conveyor belts 2 and 3 on which the product is already partially dried.
To ensure a good distribution of the air passing through the conveyor belt 1, the upper stage comprises a deflector 24 constituted by a perforated sheet placed obliquely in this last stage.
It should be noted that, in the upper floor, the circulation of air through the conveyor belt 1 takes place from top to bottom, part of this air being recycled by the fan 23, while the rest escapes through the exhaust chimney 9.
