La fig. 1 en est une vue en élévation;
la fig. 2 en est une vue de profil;

The present invention is a machine for grinding and emerying a shaped piece of steel.
It is characterized in that it has a first support which can pivot about a horizontal axis, a second support which can pivot in a plane parallel to the pivot axis of the first support, a block fixed on the second support and in which can slide two guide columns of a movable drive assembly of the workpiece, the latter comprising a through shaft on one end of which can be fixed the workpiece, the other end comprising a cam having the shape of the part to be grinded, a connecting rod integral with an adjustable slide sliding in said block, springs intended to separate said drive assembly from the part of said block, so as to apply the connecting rod to the cam, and drive means of the crossing tree.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, one embodiment of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view thereof;
fig. 2 is a side view;
fig. 3 is a top view.
The machine shown in the drawing comprises a first support 1 capable of pivoting about a horizontal axis 2.
A second support 3 pivoted at 4 on the first support can pivot in a plane parallel to the axis 2. Its angular position can be fixed by a bolt 22 and an oblong opening 23.
A block 5 fixed to the second support 3 comprises two bores in which two guide columns 6 and 7 of a movable assembly 8 for driving the part 9 to be ground can slide.
This block 5 comprises a shaft 10. On one end of this shaft can be fixed the workpiece 9 by means of an extendable clamp, for example. The other end of this shaft comprises a cam 11 having the shape of the part to be ground.
A connecting rod 12 integral with an adjustable slide 13 can slide in the block 5. The position of this connecting rod 12 is adjustable with respect to this block S by a micrometric screw 14.
Springs 16, 17 are interposed between the block 5 and the movable assembly 8 so as to separate these two parts from one another and to keep the connecting rod 12 and the cam 11 in contact.
A motor 15 is intended to drive Marble 10, a clutch and a reduction gearbox are provided between this motor and the shaft but are not shown.
A wheel 16 movable along axes A and B allows grinding, honing or polishing of part 9. This wheel can obviously be replaced by any other means of polishing or stoning, endless belt, pewter stoning plate loaded with diamond powder, etc.
For the operation of the clamp fixing the part 9, a device for opening this clamp 18 has been provided, this device being composed of a hydraulic or pneumatic maneuvering piston 18 acting on this clamp.
The operation of the machine is as follows: on the shaft 10 is fixed on the one hand the part to be grinded, emerised or polished 9. At the other end we fix the template (cam) corresponding to part 9. We give then to supports 1 and 3 and to the grinding wheel 16 the inclinations necessary to obtain the angles provided.
The motor 15 is then started and then the grinding wheel 16 is started.
Then we approach by means of the micrometric screw 14 the part 9 of the grinding wheel 16, from the contact one continues to act on this screw so as to achieve the desired dimension and finish. This sensitive action makes it possible to avoid, in the event of faults, an excessively violent attack which could burn the steel of the part.
The control of this micrometric screw can be done manually or automatically.
