d'extension
min. max. min. max.
(kg) (kg) (kg) (kg)
Forced'introduction 2 3 1,5 2

The present invention relates to a connection device between a contact surface of a conductor introduced into an opening of a body made of an insulating material with a contact surface of a contact spring held in the insulating body, device in which at least one of the contact surfaces is covered with a layer of a ductile and deformable metal.
Such devices are already known from the state patent
States of America N "3853382 in which are indicated various compositions which may be suitable.
One of these compositions consists of an alloy of 60% by weight of tin and 40% by weight of lead.
The contact spring is advantageously made of phosphor bronze.
These connectors aim to obtain pressure contacts requiring only the application of very low loads in order to ensure a satisfactory contact as well as a very low contact resistance and also a good gas tightness.
In such devices it is necessary to properly maintain the elements in contact during handling and / or vibration and, to achieve this goal, the device according to the invention is characterized in that the introduction force is calculated so as to be at least 20% less than the withdrawal force and in that, for this purpose, the contact surface of the contact spring lies on an edge of one end of a branch of the contact spring which edge forms an angle a less than 60 with respect to the direction of introduction of the conductor.
In the attached drawing, there is shown at 2 a body made of an insulating material provided with a conical opening 4, the width of which decreases towards the inside for the introduction of the stripped end 6 of a wire 10. provided with an insulating envelope 8. In the interior space 12 of the insulating body is maintained a contact spring 14. A branch 16 of this contact bears on a front face 18 of the interior wall 20 of the body 2 on which s' supports the stripped end of the wire 10. A branch 22 bent 90 "of the contact spring rests on the inner face of the wall 24 facing the wall 20.
The branch 22 of the spring 14 carries a tongue 26 resting on a face 28 of the wall 24 parallel to the front face 18.
The spring 14 has an end branch 32 whose free end 30 rests by a ridge 34 on the non-insulated end 6 of the conductor 10.
The angle a is defined by the axis 36 of the wire 6 and the tangent 38 to the surface 40 of the spring 14 turned towards the wire 6 at the location of the edge 34.
The inner wall 20 is covered with a layer of a deformable and ductile alloy as described by US Patent No. 3853382. Ridge 34 may be rounded.
As explained above, a characteristic according to the invention is that the insertion force is at least 20% lower than the withdrawal force.
For this purpose and according to the invention, the angle α must be less than 60 ".
If it is necessary to have a small withdrawal force,
The angle a is chosen between 50 and 600. If we must have a significant withdrawal force, the angle is at most 48.
The contact edge of the spring may be slightly rounded; this angle may be 0.1 to 0.2 mm, preferably about 0.15 mm.
Experience has shown that, with an angle a between 50 and 60, in the case of a ribbon cable having 9 wires of 0.5 mm covered with tin, the measurements obtained were as follows:
At the start After
25 operations
extension
min. max. min. max.
(kg) (kg) (kg) (kg)
Force introduction 2 3 1.5 2
Withdrawal force 3.25 4 2 3
For an angle α of at most 80, withdrawal forces of at least 7.5 kg were obtained for the same cable, which can be considered as a firm connection.
