<EMI ID=1.1>
<EMI ID=2.1>
<EMI ID=3.1>
<EMI ID=5.1>
<EMI ID=6.1>
60[deg.].
<EMI ID=7.1>

Electrical connection device for contact surfaces
<EMI ID = 1.1>
The present invention relates to a connection device between a contact surface
<EMI ID = 2.1>
made of an insulating material with a contact surface of a
contact spring held in the insulating body, device in which at least one of the contact surfaces
is covered with a layer of a ductile and deformable metal.
Such devices are already known from US Pat. No. 3,853,382 in which various compositions which may be suitable are indicated.
One of these compositions consists of an alloy of 60% by weight of tin and 40% by weight
lead.
The contact spring is advantageously made of phosphor bronze.
These connectors aim to obtain pressure contacts requiring only the application of very low loads in order to ensure a satisfactory contact as well as a very low contact resistance and also a good gas tightness.
In such devices it is necessary to properly maintain the elements in contact during handling and / or vibration and to achieve this goal
the device which is the subject of the invention is characterized in that the insertion force is calculated so as to be at least 20% less than the withdrawal force.
that for this purpose the contact surface of the contact spring is on a ridge of one end of a branch of the contact spring which ridge forms a
<EMI ID = 3.1>
driver duction.
In the attached drawing we represent
in 2 a body of an insulating material provided with a conical opening 4 whose width decreases towards the interior for the introduction of the stripped end 6 of a wire 10 provided with an insulating casing 8. In space inside 12 of the insulating body is maintained a contact spring 14. A branch 16 of this contact bears on a front face 18 of the inner wall 20 of the body 2 on <EMI ID = 4.1>
which rests the stripped end of wire 10. A
<EMI ID = 5.1>
on the inner face of the wall 24 facing
to the wall 20.
The branch 22 of the spring 14 carries a tongue 26 resting on a face 28 of the wall 24 parallel to the front face 18.
The spring 14 has an end branch
32, the free end 30 of which rests by an edge 34 on the non-insulated end 6 of the conductor 10.
The angle o (is defined by the axis 36 of the wire
6 and the tangent 38 to the surface 40 of the spring 14 turned towards the wire 6 at the location of the edge 34.
The inner wall 20 is covered with a layer of a deformable and ductile alloy as described by US Pat. No. 3,853,382. The edge 34 can be rounded.
As has been explained above, a characteristic according to the invention is that the insertion force is at least 20% lower than the withdrawal force.
For this purpose and according to the invention the angle must be less than 60 [deg.].
If it is necessary to have an effort of
<EMI ID = 6.1>
60 [deg.]. If you have to have a significant withdrawal force, the angle is at most 48 [deg.].
The contact edge of the spring may be slightly rounded; this angle may be 0.1 to 0.2 mm, preferably about 0.15 mm.
Experience has shown that with an angleo (between 50 [deg.] And 60 [deg.], In the case of a ribbon cable having nine 0.5 mm wires covered with tin, the measurements obtained were the following :
<EMI ID = 7.1>
For an angle of maximum 80 [deg.] for the same cable, withdrawal forces of at least
7.5 kg which can be considered a firm bond.
