la fig. 1 qui est une vue en coupe du dispositif, monté sur une presse;
The subject of the invention is a motor device, driven by a fluid.
Many elements of automatic machines must be actuated or controlled by a motor device generating a reciprocating rectilinear movement.
An elegant solution to this problem, and this is the object of the invention, is in the form of a motor device, moved by a fluid, comprising at least one element associated with a mechanism converting the rectilinear movement of said element. , trained by
the fluid, in an alternating rectilinear motion, in a direction
perpendicular tion.
The description which will follow will show the advantages and the simplicity of one embodiment of the invention; furthermore, an application example will clearly illustrate one possible use of the device. The description refers to the attached figures:
fig. 1 which is a sectional view of the device, mounted on a press;
fig. 2 which represents, very schematically, the control means of the device in the case of a cutting operation.
Fig. 1, in its upper part, shows the motor device formed of a frame 1 comprising a cylinder 2 in which the pistons 3 and 4 can be translated. The chambers 5 and 6, parts of the cylinder 2 included between the active faces of the pistons and the outer surfaces 23 and 24 of the frame 1, are closed by the two-way solenoid valves 7 and 8; electromagnetic means 9 and
10 control the opening or closing of the solenoid valves 7 and 8. Elastic seals 21 and 22, O-ring or annular, are arranged on the bottom of the chambers 5 and 6 in the vicinity of the walls 23 and 24; the seal 22 is crushed by the active face of the piston 4, in one of the two rest positions of the drive device.
An opening 11, the axis of which is perpendicular to that of cylinder 2 and of circular section for example, allows the passage of the mechanism converting the rectilinear movement of the pistons into a reciprocating rectilinear movement.
The connecting rods 12 and 13, mounted on the pistons 4 and 3, attack
symmetrically, a lever 14, in the shape of an inverted T, which can pivot about an axis 15; another lever 16, able to pivot around the axes 20 and 17, connects the lever 14 and the control rod 18. The axis 20 is located at the intersection of the plane of symmetry of the lever 14 and the line joining the points d 'attack of the connecting rods 12 and 13. The control rod 18 is guided and can slide in a bore of the sole 19. The axis 15 integral with the threaded rod 25, can be moved vertically by means of the nut 26 screwed into the flange 27. The pitches of the threads of the rod 25 and of the nut 26 are different; it is therefore a differential adjustment which makes it possible to fix with precision the position of the axis 15, and consequently the initial position as well as the stroke of the control rod 18.
Fig. 1 represents the motor device in one of the two
rest positions; the solenoid valves 7 and 8 are then open, the
non-energized electromagnetic control means 9 and 19, and
the pressure of the fluid is exerted on the active faces of the pistons 3 and
4; at left neutral, the area of piston 4 is reduced by
the crushing of the elastic seal 22; forces acting on
pistons, having a non-zero resultant, maintain the system
piston-mechanism in the extreme position corresponding to the
left neutral.
The motive fluid can be a liquid or a gas; in the
industrial applications where a functioning is sought
fast, compressed air will be used. To cause the movement of the pistons and the associated mechanism, it suffices to provide a
electric pulse to the solenoid valve 7 which then cuts the power.
air tion of chamber 5 and exhausts it; the
chamber 6 being always supplied with compressed air, a force
is exerted on the active face of the piston 4 which will move; the
connecting rod 12 then exerts a torque on the lever 14 which pivots about the axis 15, which causes the rotation of the lever 16 around the axis 17 and the translation of the control rod 18; in addition, the lever 14 pushes the piston 3 through the connecting rod 13.
The maximum amplitude of the displacement of the rod 18 is reached when the axes of the levers 14 and 16 are merged; the air pressure still being exerted on the piston 4, the lever 14 still pivots, the rod 18 comes back and the piston 3 approaches its extreme position, crushing the elastic seal 23; we then find ourselves at the start of a new cycle that can be triggered by putting the volume 6 to the exhaust, via the solenoid valve 8.
The mechanism therefore converts the rectilinear movement of the pistons into an alternating rectilinear movement of the control rod, in a perpendicular direction.
It can be seen that the set of levers constituting the mechanism behaves like a toggle and that the force exerted on the rod 18 is much greater than that which drives the pistons; the displacement of the rod 18 is reduced in the proportion corresponding to the ratio of forces.
The pressure drop, to cause the movement of the pistons, makes it possible to obtain a movement faster than that which would result from pressurization.
The characteristics of this motor device can be used to perform a cutting operation.
In order to manufacture stamped parts which have cut out parts, it is rational to perform the cutting operation after stamping; in this way the deformation of the cut parts is avoided; if moreover, it is desired to carry out the cutting in the same cycle as the stamping, it is obvious that the duration of the cutting operation must be very short; it must in fact begin just after the end of the stamping, the stamped part having approximately its final shape, and the operation must be completed while the part is still held in the stamping tool.
The motor device according to the invention is particularly suitable for controlling a cutting tool because it is capable of providing sufficient force for a very short time. The drive device, as described above, can be mounted on a stamping press, the axis of the control rod 18 coinciding with that of the press. In this case the sole 19 is a fixed part of the press, the plate 50 being movable. The cutting punch 53 is mounted inside the column block 51 so as to slide longitudinally. At rest, the punch is kept retracted by the spring 52.
Fig. 2 represents, very schematically, the means enabling the cutting cycle to be triggered at a determined and adjustable point of the stamping cycle. An index 54, the angular position of which is adjustable, is mounted on the flywheel 57 of the stamping press. A sensor 56, for example of proximity, makes it possible to detect the passage of the index. In addition, experience shows that the cutting cycle must be triggered according to a certain function of the speed of rotation of the flywheel; consequently, an electronic circuit 58 processes the signal supplied by the sensor; this signal controls the solenoid valves. The rod 55 drives the metal strip which is stamped.
When the stamping cycle begins, the press plate 50 rises, the column block 51 closes and stamps a strip of metal. At about the same time, the index 54 passes in front of the proximity sensor 56 which supplies a pulse processed by the circuit 58 in order to take into account the speed of rotation of the wheel of the stamping press; the pulse cuts off the compressed air supply and exhausts chamber 5.
The pressure drop is sudden, the piston drives the mechanism and causes the rectilinear movement of the control rod which positively translates the punch 53; the cutting operation is performed; the spring 52 ensures the return of the punch 53 in its retracted position.
