Abstract

A watertight wrist watch case can be produced by simple and cost saving means. A moulding of sintered metal acts as the case frame for a bush of homogeneous metal. The metal of the moulding can be stainless steel, chrome nickel steel, brass or bronze, with sintered particles of spherical or spattered shape. Cohesion is achieved by the shrinkage of the moulding during sintering. If shrinkage forces alone are not adequate, annular grooves and mating collars can be provided. The case itself can have relatively thin walls since the strength of the frame arises from the moulding.
