Abstract

In the felt-proofing of wool at 20-100 degrees C with aq. prepns. contg. (1) reaction prods. of epoxides and fatty amines with basic polyamides or dicarboxylic acids and (2) adducts of 12-22C fatty amines and 6-30 mole ethylene oxide, esterified with at least di-basic oxyacids, a softener (I) is applied to the wool during or after this treatment. (I) pref. consists of an oil, fat or wax emulsion, fatty acid condensate and/or polyethylene, siloxane or silicone emulsion; or a mixt. of k0-80 wt. pts. oxidising polyethylene (II) contg. COOH gps. and 20-50 pts. condensate (III) of dimerised fatty acids and diethylenetriamine or a mixt. of 50-80 pts. (II) 10-30 pts. paraffin and 10-20 pts. (III).
