The present invention relates to a disposable bed bowl made from a cellulose mass, in particular from paper mache, with double side walls, which in section has the shape of an inverted U and the connecting web of the two wall parts forms the seat of the bowl.
Disposable bed bowls of the aforementioned type have recently been used with great success in hospitals. Compared to bed bowls made of metal, glass or the like, disposable bed bowls made of paper have the advantage that they are unpacked for use after sterile production and thrown away or removed after use.
can be destroyed. In particular, a cumbersome cleaning and sterilization process is avoided.
It has now been shown that with disposable bed bowls of the type mentioned above, certain problems can arise when a patient exceeds a certain weight.
For reasons of manufacturing technology, the wall thickness of the bowls made of cellulose mass cannot be chosen arbitrarily thick, so that the solution of the problem via a more suitable dimensioning is out of the question. It would therefore have been obvious to form reinforcing ribs in the annular space between the side wall parts to solve the problem. However, this often fails due to technical problems in the manufacturing process and, on the other hand, the bed bowl would be much more expensive. Since the heavy patients, who first raise the problem, make up a relatively small proportion compared to the total number of pa inks, a solution should be sought that takes this fact into account without affecting the actual production costs.
The present invention solves the problem outlined above in that a reinforcement body is provided which can be inserted from below into the annular space between the side wall parts and which is intended to be pressed against the underside of the connecting web, i. H. the actual seat, and on the other hand against the respective base for the bowl to come to rest.
This solution now allows the use of standardized bed bowls made of paper mache, in which a reinforcement body is only to be used when required. The reinforcement body can also be made of paper mache and can also be disposed of.
Said reinforcing body of the bed bowl can be designed as a cylinder section or in the form of a bowl, i.e. H. a cylinder section closed on one side with a bottom.
Embodiments of the disposable bed bowl according to the invention are explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing. In the drawing shows:
Fig. 1 is a section through a disposable bed bowl according to the invention, d. H. a bed bowl with an inserted reinforcement body, and
FIG. 2 shows a detail from a variant of a bed bowl provided with a reinforcing body according to FIG. 1.
The bed bowl according to Fig. 1 is made of paper mache, the bowl body being indicated by 1, and inside, d. H. in the recess, a reinforcing rib 2.
The bed bowl has a double side wall which, in section, has the shape of an inverted U; H.
Has side walls 1 a and 1 b, which are connected to one another via a connecting web 3. The connecting web 3 also forms the seat of the bowl. A reinforcing body 4 in the form of a cylinder section with a bottom 4a is inserted from below into the annular space between the side wall parts la and lb and rests with the upper edge 6 against the underside of the connecting web 3, while the bottom 4a rests on the respective base of the Bowl arrives. The embodiment shown with the bottom 4a is particularly useful since the bowl pad is normally formed by the mattress of a bed. This ensures that the reinforcing body fulfills its intended task in the best possible way.
The reinforcement body 4 is only inserted into the annular space 5 and can optionally be removed after using the bowl and reused in a new bowl. It is entirely sufficient to also manufacture the reinforcement body from paper mache, since this also achieves the desired reinforcement or stability of the bed bowl body. A flange 6a is expediently provided on the upper edge 6 of the reinforcement body. which forms a widened support surface.
FIG. 2 of the drawing shows a variant of the bed bowl according to FIG. 1, the only difference being that the reinforcing body is designed as a cylindrical body 7 with a retracted edge 7a. The lower edge 7a of the cylinder section also provides a guarantee for secure support.
The total height of the reinforcement body should, if possible, be the height of the wall part lb, minus the wall thickness of the connecting web 3. Thus, when in use, both the wall part 1b and the support surfaces 4a and 7a of the support body come to rest against the base of the bowl.
