The object of the invention is a control device for a waterproof watch, comprising a tube intended to be mounted in a sealed manner in an opening of the watch case, a pusher slidable in this tube and formed of a rod and 'a button, and an elastic sealing gasket, which can be deformed freely.
In known devices of this type, the seal itself has the shape of a tube, its outer diameter being less than the diameter of the tappet tube.
This gasket is placed axially between the button of the push-button and a shoulder of the tube located in the vicinity of its internal end.
In certain known cases, the seal is simply engaged by its ends on a bearing surface of the rod or of the push button, on the one hand, and on a sleeve of the tube, on the other hand. The tightness of these solutions is however precarious.
However, cases of this type are known in which the seal is improved by flanges which radially compress the ends of the seal on the corresponding cylindrical parts of the plunger and of the tube. However, these known constructions are difficult to assemble, if not impossible with insufficiently elastic seals.
The aim of the invention is to create a device of the type indicated at the beginning, but free from the drawbacks noted in the known devices.
For this purpose, the control device according to the invention is characterized in that the gasket forms a cover closing the outer end of the tube and trapping the button of the push-button in the tube.
An embodiment of the control device according to the invention is shown by way of example in the accompanying drawing.
Fig. 1 is an axial section, the pusher fitted with this device being in the rest position, and
fig. 2 is a section similar to that of FIG. 1, the pusher being actuated.
The control device shown in the drawing is a correcting pushbutton for the date indicator member of a calendar watch. Its passage through the walls of the housing 1 is provided by a tube 2 sealingly engaged in an opening of the housing. The outer edge of this tube 2 is cut so as to form an anchoring surface 3. The entrance to the passage of the pusher is completely closed by an elastic membrane 4. For this purpose, the periphery of the membrane 4 is fixed so tight to tube 2 by a ring
S, a rim 6 of which forms an internal shoulder 7, which presses the periphery of the membrane 4 against the bearing surface 3 of the tube 2 and thus produces a clamping of this part of the membrane 4.
In order to perform the desired control operation, the device shown comprises a button 8 which has been manufactured in one piece with a rod 9 passing through the tube 2. As can be seen in the drawing, the part (8, 9) is housed in such a way in the tube 2 that the membrane 4 covers the button 8. A return spring 10 bears on an internal rim 11 of the tube and presses against the button 8 so as to keep the part (8, 9) at rest in the position shown in fig. 1.
As the spring 10 should not provide a great force on the button 8 to bring it back and keep it at rest, it can be chosen relatively weak, so that the membrane 4 can be sufficient to retain the button 9 in this position, against the 'action of the spring 10. It is however obvious that stops could be provided, on the one hand, on the rod 9 or a part integral with the latter and, on the other hand, on the tube 2, the housing 1 or the movement of the watch, in order to mechanically limit the outward movement of the case of the part (8, 9) under the action of the spring 10.
To actuate the pusher in fig. 1 and perform a correction of the date indicator member, one can use the tip of a ballpoint pen 12, a pencil point or any other object in common use that one has on hand and which has a tip similar to that of a ballpoint pen or pencil; it suffices to press on the central part of the membrane 4, as seen in FIG. 2.
When the pusher is released, the spring 10 will return the part (8, 9) and the membrane 4 to the position shown in FIG. 1.
Instead of protruding from the housing 1, the tube 2 of the pusher and the ring 5 could also be fully embedded in the housing 1, and the membrane 4 therefore lie flush with the latter. The device described thus does not risk increasing the aesthetic effect of the housing. The part of the pusher which protrudes from the latter is in fact in all cases smaller than that of a pusher comprising an external mobile element, which covers the part of the tube projecting from the housing.
The fact that it is necessary to have recourse to an instrument foreign to the timepiece, to actuate the pusher, is not a very serious drawback, since a correction of the date indicator should normally only be undertaken at the start. end of months of less than thirty-one days.
