Method of manufacturing molded articles having a hole
When making articles by injecting a plastic material into a mold, the articles come out of the mold incompletely finished, in that they include the core formed by the material which has solidified in the injection nozzle. , carrot which must be removed by an operation performed outside the mold. In the case of the manufacture of molded articles having a hole, such as gramophone discs, the hole is often machined after demoulding and in general during the removal of the core.
The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing molded objects having a hole, in particular gramophone discs, by injecting a plastic material into a mold. It makes it possible to obtain the objects without having to machine the hole after demolding, which represents a significant simplification of manufacture, and therefore an advantage.
As in the known processes, the injection of the plastic material takes place in a mold comprising two half-molds and having a nozzle and a counter-nozzle movable relative to the half-molds.
The method which is the subject of the invention is further characterized in that, once the mold is completely filled with plastic material and still closed, the material located between the nozzle and the counter nozzle is allowed to solidify, and this material is broken. , following the common outer perimeter of the nozzle and the counter-nozzle by moving the nozzle and the counter-nozzle in the same direction.
According to one implementation of the method, it is possible, before the material between the nozzle and the counter nozzle has completely solidified, bring together or allow the nozzle and the counter nozzle to approach until there is only one remaining a film of material between them, then break this film, once solidified, by said displacement of the nozzle and the counter-nozzle in the same direction.
The method of the invention can therefore be carried out in one of the following ways:
1. The material is allowed to solidify in the mold and the material between the nozzle and the counter nozzle is broken off.
2. Before the material between the nozzle and the counter-nozzle is completely solidified, we bring them closer to each other leaving between them only a film of material which can be very thin, we leave this film solidify and then the latter is removed by breaking.
The drawing ; The accompanying diagram illustrates, by way of example, various implementations of the process of the invention for the manufacture of gramophone discs. All of the figures in this drawing are similar schematic cross sections through the mold filled with plastic.
Fig. 1 shows the mold during and at the end of the injection of the plastic material.
Figs. 2 and 3 each show a way to obtain the object hole by breaking the material between the nozzle and the counter nozzle.
Figs. 4 and 5 each show a way of obtaining the object hole by removing a film of material between the nozzle and the counter nozzle.
With reference to all the figures in the drawing, the mold consists of two half-molds 10 and 11 which are clamped against each other during the injection of the plastic material and which are then separated from one another. for the release of the object, when the material they contain is solidified. The plastic material 12 is injected into the mold through the nozzle 13, to which a counter-nozzle 14 faces.
The nozzle 13 and the counter-nozzle 14 are capable of sliding in the mold, independently of one another and over such lengths that the nozzle 13 can move up to the half-mold 10 and the counter-nozzle 14 to the half-mold. 11. These movements of the nozzle and the counter-nozzle can be caused, at determined times, by mechanical means or else the nozzle or the counter-nozzle or both can be constantly subjected to the action of springs.
Fig. 1 shows the position of the different parts of the mold during and at the end of the injection of the plastic material. During the manufacturing which is currently practiced. the plastic material solidifies, the parts of the mold being in the positions shown in FIG. 1, then, once the material has solidified, the object is demolded by opening the mold. The part 15 of plastic material, which has solidified in the nozzle 13, forms the core which remains attached to the object after demolding. This core must be removed and the central hole of the disc made by operations carried out outside the mold.
During the implementation of the method, object of the present invention, the plastic material is injected into the mold as has been practiced until now, the various parts of the mold being in the positions shown in FIG. 1. The outer diameter of the nozzle and the counter-nozzle corresponds to the desired diameter for the disc hole. Once the mold cavity is filled with plastic, one of the following is done:
In an implementation illustrated in FIG. 2 and 3, the material is allowed to solidify completely, the nozzle 13 and the counter-nozzle 14 being in the position shown in FIG. 1. The core 15 solidifies and there is solid material 16 remaining between the nozzle and the counter nozzle.
To obtain the central hole of the disc, a slight displacement of the nozzle and the counter-nozzle is caused, and as indicated in fig. 2 and 3, either in the direction of arrow 17, or in that of arrow 18. By this movement, the material 16 is broken along the common outer perimeter of the nozzle and the counter-nozzle. After this breakage, the nozzle and the counter-nozzle can still be moved to the respective positions shown in fig. 2 and 3.
The object which comes out of the mold in the finished state is unmolded with its central hole. The core 15 and the material 16 are removed from the nozzle 13 and the cycle of operations can begin again.
In an implementation illustrated in FIG. 4 and 5, before the plastic material 12 is completely solidified, the nozzle 13 is brought closer or allowed to approach the counter-nozzle 14 by a movement of one of these towards the other or by a movement of both. For this, we can move or let move the nozzle 13 in the direction of arrow 19 (fig. 4) or the counter-nozzle 14 in the direction of arrow 20 (fig. 5) or simultaneously both one towards the 'other. The material between the nozzle and the counter nozzle is partly driven out by this movement and only a film 21 of this material remains between the nozzle and the counter nozzle. This film 21 is left to harden, as is also all the material in the mold.
To obtain the central hole of the disc, then causes a slight displacement of the nozzle and the counter-nozzle as was described in Example 1. This displacement causes the breakage of the film 21 along the common outer perimeter of the nozzle and of the contrabuse. The finished object is unmolded and the procedure is as in Example 1.
In all the implementations of the process of the invention, one avoids having to form the hole to its final diameter after demolding.
It is preferable that, during the slight displacement of the nozzle and the counter nozzle to form the hole by breaking the material, the opposite faces of the nozzle and the counter nozzle remain in the space between the faces of the two half-molds. .
