Machine system for inserting inserts into folded printed sheets
The subject of the present invention is a machine system for inserting inserts into folded printed sheets, with feed stations and opening elements, which are arranged along a common conveyor, and with exchangeable baffles, which connect to the opening elements in the conveying direction, around an open sheet at least along a subsequent one Keep the docking station open.
Inserting machines have become known with a first feeding station in which a cover sheet, d. H. a folded press sheet, such as B. the main sheet of a daily newspaper is placed on a collecting channel. The cover sheet conveyed along the collecting channel is then opened by an opening element. The unfolded part of the printed sheet is guided over a guide plate and held open by this during the further transport and guided in this open position past one or more subsequent feeding stations, in which an insert is inserted into the cover sheet at each feeding station.
When inserting several inserts, if they are in the fold, i. H. are to be inserted into each other, additional opening elements are provided between the feed stations for the supplements.
When collecting newspapers, it must be taken into account that the main sheet is printed last with the latest reports. This results in the problem that the inserts have to be inserted into the main sheet at the greatest possible speed. Inserting the inserts into a first folded insert sheet used as a cover sheet can be done relatively slowly. However, an increase in the operating speed of the inserting machines is limited because of the instability of the printed sheets at high conveying speeds.
The purpose of the present invention is to increase the performance of an inserting machine of the type described while maintaining the same working speed of the machine, the increase in performance having to be at least 100%.
According to the invention, this purpose is achieved in that at least two opening elements and at least twice the number of docking stations are provided and at least two docking stations are arranged between two successive opening elements, each docking station being adjacent to at most one opening element and each opening element on both sides being adjacent to a docking station.
The invention is explained, for example, using the accompanying schematic drawing. Show it:
1 shows a view of an embodiment of the system according to the invention for inserting three inserts into a folded insert sheet.
FIG. 2 shows a similar view of the embodiment of FIG. 1, in order to insert a supplement into a main sheet and
Figure 3 is a top plan view of Figures 1 and 2 with parts removed.
In the drawing, four landing stations 2, 3, 4 and 5 are arranged along a common conveying device with a collecting channel 1. An opening element 6 and 7 are arranged between the first and second landing stations 2 and 3, and between the third and fourth landing stations 4 and 5, respectively. The collecting channel 1 has a lateral guide 8, as well as a longitudinal slot 9, through which not shown catches of a conveyor chain 10 arranged below the collecting channel 1, which move the printed sheets placed in the collecting channel 1 in the direction of the arrow F to a sliding table 11, from where the printed sheets arrive at a delivery 12.
Each of the docking stations 2, 3, 4 and 5 is built in a known manner so that the bottom sheet of a stack 5, z. B. through a suction arm into the active area of a gripper of a revolving gripper drum and from there between two endless conveyor belts, which place it in the collecting channel, so that a folded printed sheet rests with its fold against the guide 8.
The opening elements 6 and 7 have two rotating pairs of suction cups 61, 62 and 71, 72, which suck the upper halves of the printed sheet sliding underneath, fold them up and place them on exchangeable baffles 13 so that the printed sheets remain open while they are on one or more the subsequent feeder stations where the inserts are inserted into the open printed sheet.
In the embodiment shown in the drawing, two opening elements 6 and 7 are provided. Of the four docking stations, the two docking stations 3 and 4 are arranged between the opening elements, each of the docking stations 2, 3, 4 and 5 adjoining at most one opening element 6 or 7 and each opening element on both sides of a docking station.
In the exemplary embodiment shown, the opening elements 6 and 7 and the feed stations are shown as two machine units arranged along the common conveyor device, which have an opening element and a feed station on each side.
It is obvious to the person skilled in the art to arrange further docking stations between the machine units 2, 6, 3 or 4, 7, 5 according to an exemplary embodiment not shown.
The advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the example described below of a newspaper with a main sheet, a first insert consisting of a folded printed sheet and three further inserts. In order to insert the three further supplements into the first supplement, for which there is sufficient time, the first supplement is placed by the feed station 2 according to FIG. This is opened by the opening element 6 and kept open by the Leitblcch 13 up to the landing station 5.
The three further enclosures are inserted into the first enclosure at the docking stations 3, 4 and 5, the opening element 7 being out of operation.
After the presence of the main sheet this is laid up according to FIG. 2 by the two investors 2 and 4 and opened through the opening elements 6 and 7, respectively. The first supplement with the inserted further supplements are then inserted into the main leaves held open by the guide plates 13 by the feed stations 3 and 5, respectively. In this way, the performance of the machine system is doubled at the same working speed as when inserting the inserts into the mentioned first insert.
If three or more machine units are arranged one after the other, the performance increases by three or more. multiple.
