Description

The invention relates to a folding and transport device with devices for folding sheets or packages of sheets and then transporting them to a storage or further processing station.

From EP-A-0 169 490 it is known, for example, to grasp sheets or packages of sheets folded by means of an opening cylinder on the leading fold back by pre-grippers. The overlap is then gripped by the gripper and the fold copies are opened under the influence of centrifugal forces. Furthermore, it is known from EP-A-0 169 491 to take up the folding copies of the folding jaw cylinder by means of drivers which are arranged at a distance from one another on a rotating transport device and which in the approximately wedge-shaped area behind the transfer point of the folding products from the collecting or reach the folder cylinder under the fold back. While a so-called overfold is required in the first-mentioned device for opening the folded copies, for example for inserting inserts, which inevitably leads to increased paper consumption, the last-mentioned known device requires a number of rotating drivers with the aid of which the folded copies are opened again or can be spread and these drivers must be introduced from the side within a short period of time. Finally, it is known from D E-AS 14 36 585 to open folded products, such as newspapers, magazines, catalogs or the like. Puncturing organs that are pushed into the folded copy pressed between a counter system and an elastic finger. Precise plunge cutting at precisely predetermined points cannot be achieved with such a device.

Furthermore, it is known from DE-A1 -634109 to fold folded products with shortened folding rollers only partially with sharp edges and to provide the remaining part with folds. Nothing is disclosed here about the transport and opening of such folded sheets.

The object of the invention is to provide a folding and transport device which enables the insertion of objects exactly between the halves of folded sheets or packages of sheets without the need for an overfold or circumferential grooving. This object is achieved by applying the features of the characterizing part.

As shown in FIG. 1, in this exemplary embodiment, the folding and transport device comprises a collecting cylinder 1 and a folding jaw cylinder 2. From the latter, the folded sheets or sheet packs (folding copies) 4 are passed to an area 5 for forwarding to a storage and transport system 6 of a ribbon line 9, 10 passed. The belt line 9, 10 can advantageously be operated at a lower speed than the peripheral speed of the cylinders 1, 2. The folding jaw cylinder 2 is equipped with folding jaws 3, in which a folding knife 7 of the collecting cylinder is conventionally used to transfer the sheets 4 to be folded 1 is kicked in.

According to the invention, however, the fold is not carried out over the entire width of the sheet, but only in position 3 'over a partial area. Fig. 2 shows a detail in the direction of arrow 11 of FIG. 2 in an enlarged view. In contrast to the previous versions, the folding flap 3 is shortened compared to the sheet to be folded and preferably also compared to the folding knife 7. This forms a loop 8 during the folding process on one side of the sheet, since the sheet is not folded in this area, i. H. is not broken sharply. FIG. 3 shows the folding process in a side view in the direction of arrow 111 in FIG. 2. The fold according to the invention thus creates a loop 8 on one side of the folded sheets 4. It is understood that with a corresponding shortening of the folding flaps 3 shown in FIG. 2, a similar loop 8 can also be formed on the right side of the other side of the sheet 4, if this is desired. Likewise, the folding according to the invention is possible in such a way that the folding flaps 3 shown in shortened form in FIG. 2 have the usual length or width, in which case the sheets or bundles of sheets 4 to be folded that are fed arrive laterally displaced into the folding flaps 3, so that they protrude on one side over the folding flap and the associated folding knife. In this case too, the protruding part is not folded, so that a loop is formed on one side.

Es ist also erfindungswesentlich, dass derartig nicht vollständig durchgefalzte Bogen 4 mit der Schleife 8 stets so übernommen bzw. weitergeführt werden, dass die Führung nicht die Schlaufe 8 zusammendrückt.1 also shows how, after the folding process has ended, the folded sheet 4 is transferred in a known manner in the region 5 to the belt lines 9, 10, which are preferably rotating at a lower speed, with the aid of a transport roller 11. 4 shows an enlarged view of how the folded sheet 4 according to the invention is guided between the ribbon cables 9, 10, namely in such a way that the loop 8 is not clamped or compressed between the ribbons 9, 10. This can be achieved in that the loop 8 projects beyond the bands 9, 10 to the side. It is therefore essential to the invention that sheets 4 that are not fully folded through in this way are always taken over or continued with the loop 8 in such a way that the guide does not compress the loop 8.

It is understood that the fold formation according to the invention can also be produced with a pair of folding rollers, between which a sheet to be folded or a sheet package is pushed by means of a folding knife. Such folding devices are referred to as drum folds and are usually used to produce a longitudinal fold. Here too, partial shortening can be achieved by shortening the pairs of folding rollers accordingly or by feeding the sheets or bundles of sheets to be folded laterally offset, so that a loop is formed on one or possibly on both sides. The same applies to the so-called folding machines, which can also be used. Instead of the belts shown in FIGS. 1 and 4 for the removal and continuation of the sheets 4 folded according to the invention, it is also possible to use other means of transport, for example grippers guided on circulating chains or belts. Here, too, what has been said before applies that the grippers or holding means must grip and guide the sheets according to the invention outside the loop area.

Druckfedern 17 drücken dabei die Kurvenrollen 15 gegen die Kurvenscheiben 14 und Büchsen 18 und 19 dienen der Führung.FIG. 5 shows in the direction of the arrow in FIG. 1 how, in this exemplary embodiment, a controlled tongue 13 dips with its tip into the loop 4 at the end region of the ribbon cables 9, 10. In this area, the sheets 4 are transferred to a storage and transport system 6, which is pulled apart by a rotating timing toothed belt (not described in more detail) and with the aid of a screw for receiving the folded sheets 4. Specifically, this system consists of elastic sheets connected to one another in a zigzag shape, between which V-shaped support arms are arranged, which are also spread apart when the zigzag or accordion-shaped structure is pulled apart. This allows folded copies to be taken up in the spread state, after which insertion or mixing processes can take place or storage in compact form. Such systems are described in detail in the parallel application PB 3382. In connection with the present invention, it is primarily important that the sheets 4 folded according to the invention are transferred to the storage and transport system 6 with the loop 8 in the spread state. For this purpose, the wedge-shaped tongue 13 (see for example FIGS. 10-13) is controlled via upper and lower cam disks 14. On the cam disk 14 there is a cam roller 15, which acts on the upper or lower region of the tongue 13 via pushers 16, so that it can be tilted by the cam disks 14. Compression springs 17 press the cam rollers 15 against the cams 14 and bushes 18 and 19 are used for guidance.

After the tip of the tongue has dipped into the sheet half 4a, 4b of the sheet 4 fed through the ribbon cables 9, 10, the sheet 4 is inserted between the two in the direction of the arrow rotating cams 20 arranged on both sides, through which the loop 8 is folded by pressing, as shown in FIG. 6 and the associated side view in FIG. 10. 7 and 11 show the further immersion of the tongue 13 between the bow halves 4a, 4b. The cams 20 have now continued to rotate to give scope for further immersion. 8 and 12, the upper part of the tongue 13 already leaves the arch area, while the lower, wider or thicker part of the tongue 13 opens the arch 4 to such an extent that V-shaped holding and spreading tongues 21, 22 of the transport system 6 can pass between the halves of the arch 4a, 4b during the transfer.

Gemäss den Fig. 9 und 13 steht die Spitze der Zunge 13 bereits erneut zum Eindringen in den nächsten Bogen 4 bereit, während der untere Teil sich noch im Bereich des Bogens 4 befindet.9 and 13, the tip of the tongue 13 is again ready for penetration into the next sheet 4, while the lower part is still in the area of the sheet 4.

It goes without saying that the rotating cams 20 are dispensed with whenever the loop 8 is not compressed, that is to say the fold must be completed over the entire width. In some cases, the completion of the fold in the area of the loop 8 may not be necessary.

Here the tongue consists of two halves 23 and 24, which are controlled independently of one another but otherwise using the same means as described in FIGS. 6 to 13 . The shape of the tongue halves 23 and 24 taken together corresponds to the wedge shape, which also has the tongue 13. 14 to 17 show the timing of the control of the tongue halves, which in effect correspond to the control of the tongue 13.

Another form of training of the tongues is shown in FIGS. 18 to 22, with the aid of which the folded sheets 4 can be opened. These consist here of two disks 25 and 26 rotating in a clockwise manner in the direction of the arrow, which are increasingly stronger again in the circumferential direction, that is to say are also wedge-shaped again in this direction. Form these disks can be seen from FIGS. 18 to 21 and from the side view of FIG. 22. As shown, the washers have a tip 27 for better penetration between the bow halves or into the loop 8. The disks 25, 26 rotate in order to push the sheet halves apart, so that the sheet halves 4a, 4b are pushed apart by their increasing thickness. The arching halves 4a, 4b are thus pushed apart in principle in the same manner as described above in connection with the tongues 13 and the tongue halves 23, 24. Due to the existing recesses in the tongues or disks 25, 26, the rotating cams 20 can be activated in certain circumferential positions to complete the fold, ie to squeeze the loop 8 together.

In the exemplary embodiments described above, tongues were inserted between folded sheets or sheet packs in order to force the halves of the sheets or sheet packs apart. However, it is also possible within the scope of the invention to insert inserts, for example sheets or folded products, from the side instead of the tongues 13, 22, 23 or 25, 26 inserted into the loops 8. Such sheets or folded products can be introduced from one side and from the left and from the right when creating loops on both sides. This way of introducing objects in the form of sheets or folded copies is described in detail below.

Bei einer eventuellen Abspeicherung bleiben die Schlaufen 30, 31 erhalten, so dass der Vorgang mehrfach wiederholt werden kann.23 shows the clockwise transfer of two partially folded sheets 28 and 29, each of which has a loop 30 and 31, respectively. As shown, both sheets are held between sheets 33 and 34, respectively, and positioned so that the corner 32 of the sheet 29 can be steered into the loop 30 of the sheet 28. The sheets 33, 34 have recesses 35, 36 so that the loops are retained. In the further course, not shown here, the sheets 29 are then pushed completely between the halves of the sheet 28. For this purpose, grippers are suitable, for example, which each grasp the sheet 29 at the top and insert it into the sheet 28 by a transverse movement. The required movement of such grippers can, for. B. in a simple manner by appropriately shaped guide rails. If they are saved, the loops 30, 31 are retained, so that the process can be repeated several times.

In summary, it can thus be stated that the loops 8, 30 and 31 are used in the manner according to the invention for introducing tongues or other segments for the later opening of folded products or for inserting sheets or folded products.
