<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Device for treating gas-permeable or gas-impermeable material, and a use thereof. The invention relates to a device for treating gas-permeable or gas-impermeable material, with at least two sieve drums and a conveyor for each sieve drum to generate a flow into the interior of the drum, as well as a use thereof . This can be any type of good such as cellulose, nonwovens, veneers, lengths of fabric, etc.
Sieve drum dryers for air-permeable or air-impermeable piece goods differ from sieve drum dryers for drying air-permeable webs in that in the first case the perforation of the sieve drum serves both to hold the material and to suck out the circulating air, while the sieve drum dryer is an inflator to dry air-impermeable material - Must have a suction device for the circulated air, because the perforation on the sieve drum shell is taken up by the infinite, air-impermeable material.
In order to enable universal use of the dryer, it is advisable to close off the additionally provided suction device for sucking off the circulated air when continuous, impermeable material is dried in the case of air-permeable or air-impermeable material in pieces.
Devices for drying loose fiber material are also known which have a two-part cover plate which can be pushed together. This is intended to solve the problem of bringing about an increased suction force when the goods are brought in at the suction point for the sieve drum in order to ensure that the goods are taken over.
The purpose of the invention is to create a device which is used to treat piece goods or goods in web form that are gas-permeable or gas-impermeable.
The device according to the invention is characterized in that inner and / or outer covering means for controlling the treatment medium into the inside of the drum are assigned to the part covered or uncovered with the material to be treated, which can be switched on and off. The covering means are expediently controlled by the negative pressure prevailing in the screen drum.
As is known, the air speed is directly proportional to the prevailing pressure gradient, so that the air speed when blowing through the covers, which expediently open automatically, is determined by the pressure difference outside and inside the sieve drum. Because when the speed of the sucked in air increases, the resistance of the automatically opening covers is square. increases, the automatically opening covers - depending on the air speed and pressure difference - free a larger or smaller gap for the air flowing through.
The invention also relates to a use of the device according to the invention for drying air-permeable or air-impermeable material.
The device according to the invention can also; for wet treatment of permeable or impermeable material, d. H. For example, they can be used in a wet treatment bath, or any medium can flow through the sieve drums.
The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to devices for drying air-permeable or air-impermeable material.
Some exemplary embodiments of the device according to the invention are shown in the drawing. 1 shows a cross section of a device for drying air-permeable material; 1a shows the same cross section of the device shown in FIG. 1 with covering means lifted off the drum surface for drying air-impermeable material;
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
2 shows a cross section of a second exemplary embodiment of a device for drying belt-shaped air-permeable material or air-impermeable piece goods;
2a shows the same cross section of the device shown in FIG. 2 with the covering means arranged along the screen drum surface in a position suitable for drying air-impermeable material; 3 shows a cross section of a third exemplary embodiment of a device for drying air-permeable material; 3a shows the same cross section of the device shown in FIG. 3, but in an operating position for drying air-impermeable material; Fig. 4 is a section along line A-B in Fig. 3a and half along line C-D in Fig. 3; 5 shows a spring-loaded flap in a screening drum end wall; and FIG. 6 shows an arrangement for lifting off cover flaps arranged on the drum outer circumference.
In FIGS. 1 and 1 a, a sieve drum dryer is shown, in which each sieve drum 1 is assigned a cover plate 2 which can be moved towards and away from the drum surface. In the interior of the drum, additional, adjustable cover plates 3 are arranged which, depending on the setting, control the takeover or delivery of the belt-shaped drying material 4, 4a to or away from the screen drum by regulating the suction.
The adjustment of the cover plate 2 via the spindle 5 can, for. B. mechanically, hydraulically or pneumatically, manually, semi-automatically or fully automatically. A pressure measuring device arranged in the interior of the drum is expediently provided as a pulse generator for an automatically operating device.
Of course, the cover plates 2 can also be shaped and designed differently, as can be clearly seen from the following figures.
In Figure 1, the operating position of the device for drying air-permeable material 4 is shown, with almost the entire drum surface not covered by the material 4 to be dried is covered by the cover means 2 and 3, so that the drying medium, as indicated by the arrows 6, through the material 4 to be dried flows through into the interior of the drums 1.
However, if the material to be dried is impermeable to air, then practically no drying air would get into the interior of the drum in the operating position described above. H. there would be no air circulation. and thus do not dry the items to be dried. To avoid this, z. B. at a certain negative pressure inside the drums 1, the cover plates 2 as shown in Fig. La, lifted from the drum surface so that the air flowing out of the nozzles 7 as indicated by the streamlined threads 8, through the now uncovered part of the drum surfaces in can get inside the drums.
In FIGS. 2 and 2a, a drum screen drying system is shown in which cover plates 9, 10 and 11 are provided in the interior of the drum screen 1, which can be pivoted into a lower or upper position as required.
Each of the cover plates 9, 10 and 11 has a flap 9a, 10a or 11a, which are arranged and designed such that they are in the position of the cover plates, which are preferably used for drying air-permeable, band-shaped material. or air-impermeable piece goods (Fig. 2), are closed, while in the position for drying air-impermeable goods (Fig. 2a), which is offset by 180 from the first layer, the flaps 9a, 10a and 11a are opened automatically, so that the space 12 outside the inner covers 9, 10 and 11 with the space 13 inside the same, i.e. H. with the drum interior, and thus enables the air-impermeable material to be dried to be sucked into place.
The position of the cover plates 9, 10 and 11 shown in FIG. 2 is used for drying air-permeable goods or for air-impermeable piece goods, as well as for running in air-impermeable webs. In this position, the flaps 9a, 10a and 11a are closed, so that when the material 4 is permeable to air, most of the air sucked into the drum interior 13 flows through the material to be dried 4.
Air-impermeable webs are inserted into the device with the cover plates in the position shown in FIG. 2, the cover plates 9, 10 and 11 being pivoted through 180 after the webs 4a have been completely inserted, as shown in FIG. 2a. Since the air cannot pass through the items to be dried 4a into the interior 13 of the screen drums, pivoting the cover plates allows the circulating air that is applied to the items to be dried 4a on the adjacent screen drum to be sucked off, as indicated by the Streamline threads 14 is indicated.
FIGS. 3 and 3a show a further possible embodiment of a sieve drum dryer in which the setting or the suction possibility of the circulating air is controlled independently as a function of the negative pressure prevailing inside the drums while avoiding complicated control elements.
As can be seen from FIGS. 3 and 3a, stationary cover flaps 15 are provided in the interior of the screen drums 1b and 1c in the form of louvers. The individual flaps 15 of these louvre-shaped covers are connected to one another in such a way that a single regulating weight 16 is sufficient for several flaps together. The mass of the regulating weight 16 is advantageously chosen in such a way that the flaps 15 of the covers respond to a negative pressure of, for example, 50-60 mm water column inside the drums. If now z.
B. air-permeable material dried, wherein the drying air can penetrate this well, so that the vacuum inside the drum screen remains below 50-60 mm water column, then no actuation of the flaps 15 of the covers takes place. If air-permeable piece goods are dried and the distance between the individual pieces is sufficient to allow a sufficiently large air circulation with a vacuum of 50-60 now WS inside the drums, then the shutter-shaped flaps 15 are also not actuated.
The covers inside the drums remain closed and the air is sucked through between the piece goods. If the piece goods to be dried are placed so close to one another that not all of the circulating air can get through the gaps between the piece goods into the inside of the sieve drum, then the negative pressure inside the sieve drums increases until the flaps 15 of the covers open automatically and thus allow the air charged to the neighboring screen drum to be extracted,
as shown in Fig. 3a.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In order to fully utilize the air sucked into the interior of the sieve drums la, 1b and 1c for the drying process, d. H. In order to avoid direct suction of the circulated air from the outer part 17 of the device without flowing through the nozzle-like acting diffuser 18, a partition 19 is arranged on the side of the sieve drums not covered with material to be dried between each two adjacent diffuser. In this way, the circulated air is forced to flow from the outer part 17 of the device through the guide devices 18 and thus onto the material to be dried.
If air-impermeable material 4a is dried in web form, which extends over the entire perforation width of the screen drum, i. H. Extends over the entire working width, then all the air sucked in by the sieve drum 1b is caused by the application of air to the sieve drums la and 1c. The flow generated thereby therefore moves partly in the transport direction of the material to be dried 4a, partly in the opposite direction.
If you want to generate a suction flow across the transport direction of the material to be dried, then the exposed air must be sucked off by the same sieve drum. This can e.g. B. can be achieved by the arrangement of flaps 20 on the end wall of the screening drums. If the screen drum end wall is firmly connected to the screen drum shell, so that it rotates during the transport of the material to be dried, then the flaps 20 must be opened or closed depending on the position in order to allow the flaps 20 to open only in the vicinity of the material to be dried only if there is a certain negative pressure inside the drum.
In Fig. 4, half a section along the line AB in Fig. 3a and along the line CD in Fig. 3 is shown, the course of the air flow for permeable material from the right and the cross flow of the Drying air for impermeable material and open flaps can be seen on the front wall of the sieve drum. To generate the necessary air circulation, fans 21 and 22, which are effectively connected to the interior of the screen drums, are arranged on the end walls of the screen drums.
At the outlet of the blowers 21 and 22, heating elements 23 are provided for heating the circulated drying air.
In FIG. 5, a spring-loaded flap 20 arranged on a screening drum end wall is shown enlarged. The spring 24 and the weight 26 arranged on a lever arm 25 connected to the flap 20 are arranged and coordinated with one another in such a way that the flap 20 is only opened in the lower position and when there is a certain negative pressure inside the screen drum. Of course, the weight and spring loading can also be controlled by other control devices such as B. cams or controlled by means of a control means depending on a vacuum measuring device.
6 shows an arrangement for lifting off cover flaps 27 and 28 arranged on the drum outer circumference, a spindle 29 with two oppositely extending threads serving to displace the spindle nuts 30 and 31 in opposite directions.
