Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>

Automatic firearm The present invention relates to an automatic firearm, characterized in that it comprises an explosion chamber axially delimited by the base of a caseless projectile in the starting position in the barrel tube and by the front face of a movable breech.
The drawing shows by way of example an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section of an automatic weapon. Fig. 2 is a cross section 11-II of FIG. 1.
The automatic firearm shown in the drawing comprises a barrel tube 1 into which is introduced a projectile 2, the base 3 of which closes one end of the cylindrical cavity 4 constituting the explosion chamber, the other opposite end being the front face 5 of a movable cylinder head 6 provided with at least one sealing segment 7. In the chamber 4 end the tangential orifices 8, 9, channels 10 respectively 11 equipped with valves 12 and 13. Finally, the chamber 4 will be further provided. at least one spark plug 14. Thus described, the automatic weapon shown in the drawing operates in the following manner In the barrel tube 1 will be pushed a projectile 2 which will be immobilized in its starting position beyond l 'orifice 8 through the cylinder head 6 which will have reached its front neutral point.
In its opposite movement of recoil the cylinder head 6 will unmask the orifices 8 and 9 as well as the spark plug 14. Before the end of this recoil movement it will be introduced into the chamber 4 through the orifices 8 and 9 of the channels 10 and 11, and after opening of the valves 12 and 13, a mass of ballistic powder as well as a mass of combustible gas whose respective molecules will be intimately mixed by a vortex movement generated in the explosion chamber 4 by the tangential arrangement of the channels 10 and 11. This mixture constituting the charge will be ignited in due course by the spark gushing between the electrodes of the spark plug 14.
Means being provided in the weapon to synchronize the movements of the valves 12 and 13 as well as the time of ignition of the charge with the reciprocating movement of the breech 6.
The advantages of the weapon described compared to other known weapons lie in a simplification of the weapon by eliminating the percussion mechanisms of primer and extraction of empty casings after firing. Finally, the ammunition will be considerably lighter, less expensive and in the event of a conflict executed and transported very quickly.
