Description

Device for mixing and mixing powdery products
The present invention relates to an apparatus for mixing and mixing pulverulent products, characterized by at least one quasi-tangential injector-mixer ensuring the introduction of a pressurized fluid into the pulverulent mass and creating therein a primary turbulence and, moreover , additional turbulence, due to the particular structure of the injector nozzle.

An embodiment of the apparatus according to the invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawing.

Fig. 1 is a schematic elevation of a cooker, seen along the arrow I of FIG. 2.

Fig. 2, a plan view of the same, according to the arrow II of FIG. 1.

Fig. 3, an enlarged axial section of an injection nozzle.

The apparatus shown is a cooker-mixer, intended for the treatment of Famidon. It comprises a tank 1 with a double partition, of generally vertical cylindrical shape with a convex tank bottom 2 protected by a horizontal screen 3 against the clogging of the starch towards the drain flanges 4. In the example described, the nozzles d 'steam injection 5 and 5' are two in number, but it goes without saying that their number may vary depending on the type and dimensions of the cooker.

These nozzles each end a pressurized steam adductor pipe (6 and 6 'respectively), which penetrates the tank body of the tank 1, if not tangentially at least very obliquely with respect to the circular periphery thereof, so that steam under pressure is injected facing the general circular movement (arrow Y) of a powdery mass which is driven by rotating blades (not shown). It enters an inert mass if it receives no mechanical impulse other than that of vapor. In either case, the simple injection of pressurized steam along the arrows Z provides, during cooking, a general so-called primary turbulence (primary turbulence).

An additional turbulence, created by the particular structure of each nozzle 5 or 5 ', is added to the aforementioned primary turbulence, to complete the constant and complete stirring of the mass of powdered starch during its cooking. For this purpose, each nozzle is made as follows (see fig. 3): the end of the adductor pipe 6 carries, welded to it, a sleeve 7, an end thread 7a of which receives a threaded sleeve 8a of the base 8 of a spout 9 and a sleeve 10, while serving as a seat for a non-return valve 11 preventing the introduction of powder material into the pipe 6. The nozzle spout 8 has the conventional frustoconical shape with u; an open end (9a) in the general axis XX '.

I1 is enveloped with a determined spacing, by the sleeve 10 which is coaxial with it and which itself comprises a frustoconical end part 10a with axial opening 10b following the opening 9a of the spout 9, but with a diameter greater than oette last. The cylindrical part of the sleeve 10, which surrounds almost all of the spout 9, is pierced with a number of side windows 12 thanks to which the nozzle behaves as a venturi. A vacuum call according to the arrows z, z is created by the main steam jet
Z. The pulverulent material surrounding the nozzle is therefore sucked in by the windows 12 and violently stirred at the outlet 10b, without risking nevertheless to enter the nozzle 9.

The non-return valve 11 should intervene only exceptionally, for example in the event of stoppage or accidental interruption of the admission of steam through pipe 6.

Thus the introduction, in the tank of the apparatus, of a jet of steam directed in the opposite direction to that of the pulvenîlente mass entrained by blades or striking the inert mass if the latter is not entrained, orée the primary turbulence to which is added the secondary turbulence due to a venturi effect to ensure the mixing of said mass.

The apparatus described can also be arranged to allow the mixing of other pulverulent products and to use other fluids brought under pressure by the nozzles, the dimensions and proportions of which may vary according to the density or the particle size of the product to be mixed.
