Description

Method for the production of a cage for needle bearings The present invention relates to a method for the manufacture of a cage for needle bearings according to claim of main patent M, 375181, that is to say in which openings are formed in a strip of material, the sides of these openings being profiled using at least one shaping punch,

so that the width of the openings corresponds to the diameter of the needles increased by a set, except in the vicinity of the outlet of the openings on one of the faces of the blank where over at least part of their length their width is less than the diameter needles, and the blank is bent, the outer surface corresponding to said face of the blank.

This method is characterized in that it consists in providing at one end of the strip tenons extending the lateral cords of this strip, and at the opposite end of the recessed parts in the cords, so that the joint is offset. laterally between two cells, the protrusion of the tenons exceeding the width of a cell increased by the depth of the recessed parts, by an amount corresponding to a slight overlap or excess of perimeter and in that the junction by welding without adding metal.

The appended drawing represents, by way of example, some details of a cage for needle bearings manufactured according to the process forming the subject of the invention.

Fig. 1 is a plan view of the planar blank before rolling; fig. 2 is a partial view on a larger scale; fig. 3 is a side view corresponding to FIG. 2.

We see in fig. 1 the blank of FIG. 1 of the main patent, but in which the ends are shaped as follows:

on one side (on the left in the drawing), the blank ends with a bar 3, and on the other with two tenons 23, 23 ', located in the extension of the cords 4 and 5 connecting the bars 3, so that after rolling, the tenons 23, 23 'limit a cell 2a of the same width l as the other cells 2.

However, the protrusion m of the tenons is greater than the width d. Of the bars and, at the opposite end, the beads 4 and 5 are recessed by an amount n, so that the joint resulting from the approximation of the edges 24, 24 'of the tenons and of the slices 25, 25' of the recessed cords is outside the cell (FIG. 2).

In addition, to achieve the weld without adding metal, a slight overlap (of a few tenths of a millimeter) of the tenons 23, 23 'is made on the beads 4, 5 of the opposite end, as shown in FIG. 3 and the dotted line 25 of FIG. 2.

For this purpose, the cutout is made such that the protrusion m of the tenons exceeds by a few tenths of a millimeter the width l of the .alveoli .augmen ted by the depth n of the recessed parts. The width of the overlap is therefore equal to m- (l + n) .

During welding, the metal of the overlapping parts is crushed by the electrodes exerting their pressure in the directions P, P '(fig. 3) and the only burr which forms is that shown at 26 in fig. 2. It disappears during the operation to calibrate the cages in width.

As an alternative, the blank of FIG. 1 can be rolled cylindrically, the edges 24, 25 being brought into contact (without superposition) and the hard solder can be carried out without adding metal by circumferential shrinkage of the blank, to compensate for its excess perimeter, this shrinkage producing tangential pressures which push back the excess metal, producing the burr 26.
