La fig. 1 en est une vue de profil en élévation ; la fig. 2 :en est une vue en plan; .la fig. 3 est une coupe agrandie d'un détail de construction de cette forme d'exécution; la fig. 4 est une coupe agrandie d'un détail d'une variante ;
Ladder with adjustable uprights The present invention relates to a ladder with adjustable uprights, characterized in that its uprights are hollow and each contain a telescopic element opening out at its lower end and capable of being moved into,
one of which has different positions, means being provided to ensure, in each of said positions, the locking of the telescopic elements.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the scale which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a side elevation view thereof; fig. 2: is a plan view ; . Fig. 3 is an enlarged sectional view of a construction detail of this embodiment ; FIG. 4 is an enlarged section of a detail of a variant;
fig. 5 is a section on I-I of FIG. 4. The scale shown comprises two front uprights 1 and two rear uprights 2, made of metal tubes, the section of which is a parallelogram, for example a rectangle or a square.
On the upper ends of the uprights 2 is fixed, by welding, a frame 3 whose sides 4 carry the front uprights 1 articulated on axes 5 fixed on said sides 4. A wooden plate 6 is placed on the frame 3.
The rear uprights 2 present a series of supports 7, hell angle, welded and arranged horizontally in pairs, these supports receiving plates 8 forming the rungs.
On the underside of one of the rungs 8 is fixed a flexible strip 9, the free end of which has perforations 10. The latter are intended to cooperate with a lug 11 fixed to a horizontal cross member 12 bringing together: the front uprights 1 .
The flexible strip 9 makes it possible to adjust the respective spacing of the two pairs of uprights 1 and 2. Inside the uprights 1 and 2 are arranged, slidably,
telescopic elements 13 also made of metal tubes, the section of which is a parallelogram. The telescopic elements 13 open out at the lower end of the uprights and present on one of theirs.
faces, a series of perforations 14 superimposed and placed facing an opening 15 formed at the lower end of the wall of the corresponding uprights.
The locking of the telescopic elements 13, in the respective uprights 1 and 2, is effected by means of a tenon 16 intended to be engaged in orifice 15 and in one of the perforations 14.
The tenon 16 is fixed inside a collar 17 surrounding the uprights and movable transversely with respect to the latter. The collar 17 is elastically fixed to the corresponding upright by means of a leaf spring 18 riveted to said
upright, this blade being intended to apply the collar 17 against the upright considered, which aims to maintain .le tenon 16 engaged in the orifice 15 and in one of the perforations 14.
In a variant which aims to increase the possibilities of adjusting the telescopic elements 13, provision is made to have each of these latter two parallel series 19 and 20 of perforations 14 superimposed and placed opposite each other.
two orifices 26 made in the corresponding uprights (fig. 4 and 5), the perforations of the series 20 being offset vertically with respect to the perforations of the series 19, so as to reduce the vertical spacing between two consecutive perforations.
To allow the blocking of such elements, provision is made to provide the collar 17 with two .tenons 21 and 22 retractable in housings 23 formed in the collar 17, springs 24 held in:
the housings 23 by screws 25, tending to push the tenons 21 and 22 out of their housings 23. Thus, when the tenon 21 is engaged in the orifice 26 and in a perforation 14 of the series 19, the tenon 22 is pushed back into its housing 23 by the wall 27 of the telescopic element 13 and vice versa.
Since the length of each of uprights 1 and 2 can be changed, the scale shown offers great stability on uneven ground, this stability is obtained as follows After having adjusted the spacing of uprights 1 and 2, we Fixed them naked by means of the strip 9, then, by acting on each of the collars 17 in the direction of the arrow 28 (fig. 3 and 4), the tenons 16, 21 or 22 are released,
which allows the telescopic elements 13 to slide to the desired position ; then the collars 17 are released which, under the effect of the spring larvae 18, push the tenons 16, 21 or 22 in the orifices 15 or 26 and in the perforations 14, and thereby block the elements 13 in their respective amounts.
