<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Device for adjusting the position of a watch racket from outside the casing In devices for adjusting the position of a watch racket from outside the casing known hitherto, an accessible control member from the outside of the watch case and worn by the latter is connected to the racket by transmission organs which have, for the most part, the drawback of requiring special preparation of the watch movement in order to be able to be set up .
In said known devices, which have a control member carried by the case and connected directly to the racket of the watch movement, said control member has at least one part which extends above the bridges of this movement and of racket, so that the box must be made thicker than for the same movement without a device for adjusting the position of the racket from outside the box.
Moreover, a control member carried by the case and connected directly to the racket has the drawback of complicating the casing of the watch movement, by forcing the worker responsible for putting the movement in place in the case or of the watch movement. 'leaving it to establish the connection between said control member carried by the housing and the racket or to separate this control member from said racket.
The aim of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks. For this, the device according to the invention comprises a transmission member which is mounted on a circle for enlarging the movement of the watch and which acts on an element fixed to the head of the racket, in front of the key and of the same. side of the racket than this one.
One embodiment of the adjustment device according to the invention is shown, by way of example, in the appended drawing, in which: FIG. 1 is a sectional view thereof, and FIG. 2 a plan view.
This device is mounted on a movement 1, which differs from a usual movement only by the racket 2 with which it is equipped. This special racket however has, like the usual rackets, a ring engaged around the frustoconical face of a cockerel 3 fixed in a known manner to the cock 4 of movement 1, said ring of the racket extending under a ring 5 of a eyebolt 6 movable around the hook 3.
As opposed to the usual rackets, racket 2 has a longer arm 7, which carries, on its underside turned towards the inside of the movement, not only the pin 8 and the key 9, but also a stud 10 at the front of the key 9. The stud 10 is held in place in a circular hole of the arm 7 of the racket, by a bearing 11 crimped so that the stud 10 can rotate relative to the arm 7.
A threaded transverse hole 12 is made in the stud 10 so as to be able to receive the end of a screw 13.
Movement 1 with its dial 14 is fixed in the middle 15 of a watch case in a known manner by means of an enlarging circle 16.
A cylindrical hole 17 is made transversely through the circle 16, so as to be able to receive the cylindrical head 18 of the screw 13 with a certain lateral play. This head 18 has a peripheral groove 19 into which a finger 20 fixed to the circle 16 plunges, in order to retain the screw 13 in a determined axial position with respect to said circle. Finally, the head 18 has a transverse slot 21 in its end face, so that it can be actuated in rotation by a control member 22.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The location of the hole 17 in relation to the movement of the watch is chosen such that the screw 13 is at least approximately perpendicular to the head 7 of the racket 2, when the latter is in its normal adjustment position.
The control member 22 has: a flat projection 23 at its inner end, which is arranged so as to penetrate into the transverse slot 21 of the head 18 of the screw 13; a shank 24, in sealed contact with a lining 25 placed at the bottom of a cylindrical housing 26 of the middle 15; a shoulder 27, and a head 28 having a slot 29 in which a screwdriver can be engaged to rotate the member 22 and the screw 13.
The control member 22 is normally maintained in the position shown in FIG. 1 by a coil spring 30, which bears on a ring 31 driven into the housing 26 of the middle 15, at the entrance thereof. By acting on the shoulder 27 of the member 22, the spring 30 also axially compresses the sealing gasket 25 and, by consequence, this gasket against the rod 24, thus guaranteeing satisfactory sealing of the seal between the control member 22. and the middle 15.
To facilitate the fitting and removal of the movement 1, the circle 16 finally has a notch 32 in its outer upper part. coming into contact with the internal wall of the middle 15, this notch preventing the enlargement circle from remaining hooked to the internal end of the member 22.
A similar notch could also be made in the dial 14 if it were to be only difficult to engage this dial under the end of the member 22, keeping the movement at an angle with respect to the middle part 15, at the time of its casing.
Marks or a graduation could be traced on the cylindrical outer face of the middle 15 in order to indicate in which direction it is necessary to turn the member 22 in order to adjust the racket 2 in the desired direction, towards the advance or. towards the delay, while possibly indicating the size of the correction made, with respect to the daily running of the watch.
A rotation of the member 22 causes, as indicated above, a corresponding rotation of the screw 13. As the latter is held axially in place with respect to the circle 16 thanks to the finger 20, this screw 13 ultimately causes a displacement. angle of racket 2 around cockpit 3.
The stud 10, which can turn in its hole in the head 7 of the racket, as indicated above, does not however move in a straight line, but in an arc of a circle. As the watch described can be adjusted in advance so that its wearer only has to make minor adjustments to the adjustment, the angular displacements of the racket 2 from its normal adjustment position, in one direction or another. in the other, are therefore very limited.
Furthermore, because the arm 7 is approximately perpendicular to the screw 13 when the racket is in its normal adjustment position, it follows that the stud 10 will not force the end of the screw 13. to move in a direction perpendicular to the axis of this screw, only a very small amount. This transverse displacement of the screw 13 is possible because of the play of the head 18 in the hole 17 of the enlargement circle and moreover because of the elasticity of the screw 13.
To exit the movement 1 from the middle 15, it suffices to move the control member 22 towards the outside of the case so as to cause its projection 23 to come out of the slot 21 of the screw 13, this projection 23 then passing without further in the notch 32 of the circle 16. To put the movement back in place in the caseband 15, it suffices to first press the member 22 towards the outside of the case, compressing the spring 30. When the movement is in place, this spring automatically brings the member 22 into contact with the screw 13.
If the angular position of the projection 23 does not correspond to that of the transverse slot 21, it suffices to rotate the member 22 until the projection 23 enters said slot. It is easy to see if the projection 23 is normally engaged in the slot 21 of the head 18 of the screw, since at that time the head 28 of the member 22 is located flush with the outer face of the screw. the middle 15.
As there is generally enough room at the end of the head of the usual rackets in standard watch movements, it will be very easy to equip such a movement with a racket 2 of the type shown in the drawing without the end of the arm 7 of this racket risks coming into contact with the other part of the frame of the movement.
In other words, the watch manufacturer does not need to prepare his movements in anticipation of a possible mounting of a device for adjusting the position of the racket from outside the case; he can without further change a conventional movement so as to be able to equip it with the device described, simply by changing the racket of this movement.
It suffices for him to have at his disposal a series of enlarging circles 16, in which a hole 17, a notch 32 and a housing for the finger 20 are made, in order to be able to equip his watches with the adjustment device described. As these circles 16 represent an inexpensive part, it is consequently possible to store a certain number of them, without this representing a great immobilization of funds for the watch manufacturer.
In addition, the device described has the advantage of not having any transmission member connecting the control member carried by the housing to the racket, which extends above the bridges of the movement 1, between them and the racket. bottom 33 of the box. The latter can therefore be provided in the same position with respect to the movement 1 as in the boxes intended to receive a movement without a racket adjustment device.
