Rest seat The present invention relates to a rest seat comprising a canvas stretched in a frame carried by a support. It is characterized in that said frame can move angularly on the support between a position corresponding to the use as an ordinary chair and a position corresponding to the use as a relaxation chair.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the chair of this embodiment in the normal use position.
Fig. 2 shows it in the tilted back position (relax position).
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the folded chair.
Fig. 4 shows the detail of the elastic fixing of the fabric of the armchair to the frame.
Fig. 5 is a schematic side view showing the chair being folded.
Fig. 6 is a detailed view of the articulation of an armrest.
Fig. 7 is a section along VII-VII (fig. 6). Fig. 8 is a large-scale view of one of the support cheeks, showing the various articulation and sliding devices associated with it.
Figs. 9, 10 and 11 are sections along IX-IX, X-X, XI-XI (fig. 8).
Figs. 12 and 13 are front and side detail views showing one of the reinforced ends of one of the double legs of the chair. The chair shown in fig. 1 to 3 comprises a frame in two U-shaped halves 1 and 2, articulated to each other by their free ends, as will be explained below, these two halves preferably being made of metal tube. .
In the unfolded position shown in FIG. 1 and 2, this main frame is curved around three successive transverse axes so as to determine a slightly concave backrest A, part B forming the seat surface and part C forming a footrest, the assembly B-C being slightly convex.
Inside the frame 1-2 thus established is stretched a canvas 3, the sides of which are attached to the sides of said frame at a large number of points. by means of a lace 4 (fig. 4) advantageously made of rubber so as to be elastic and passed in a zigzag way between eyelets 5 mounted on the edges of the fabric 3 and the tops of the undulations of a metal wire 6 welded at intervals inside the considered side of frame 1-2.
It will be noted that the canvas 3 does not extend to the extreme transverse side of the part C forming the footrest, so as to provide a free space D in which the user can pass the heels, his feet coming to rest against a gasket 7 provided on said side.
With the frame 1-2 are associated two armrests, each of which consists of two halves 8 and 9 respectively articulated to the half-frame 1 in 10 and to the half-frame 2 in 11, and also articulated to each other in 12.
As can be seen from Figs. 5, 6 and 7, half 8 (which is preferably made of a metal tube like half 9) is extended by a part 8a in. suitably shaped gutter shape to fit on half 9 in the unfolded position of the armrest, thus constituting a stopper capable of limiting the angle of unfolding thereof. As shown in fig. 1 to 3, the upper half 8 of each armrest is covered with a suitable pad 13. The pad 13 has been assumed to be removed in fig. 5 and 6 so as not to overload the drawing.
The foldable main frame 1-2 is articulated in the manner described below on a support constituted by two side cheeks 14 completely independent of one another, and on the support thus constituted are articulated two double feet. crossed 15 and 16, each being made in the form of an incomplete frame open in U and articulated to the cheeks 14 by its ends.
The fi-. 8 to 11 show details of cheeks 14 and the devices associated with them. Each of the free ends of the half-frame 2 is fixed by two bolts 17 in a gutter 18 with a U-shaped profile (fig. 9 to 11). The ends of the frame 1 are also engaged in the gutters 18, but each of them is only fixed by a single bolt 19 (FIG. 9) which constitutes the hinge pin.
In this way, the half-frame 1 can be folded over the half-frame 2 by turning in the direction of arrow 20 in FIG. 8, but its movement in the opposite direction is limited to the position for which the two half-frames are aligned (position shown in fig. 8). To allow free rotation of the half-frame 1, its ends are rounded, as indicated at la.
Each gutter 18 is articulated to the corresponding cheek 14 by means of a bolt 21 (FIG. 10) on which is mounted a spacer 22 which engages between the two wings of the gutter 18. On the other hand , under each gutter 18, is welded a die 23 (fig. 11) which is crossed by a bolt 24 with nut 25.
The bolt 24 passes through a two-diameter washer 26, the part of which has a smaller diameter can slide in a curved window 14a (fig. 8 and 11), cut in the cheek 14 concentrically with the articulation bolt 21. The bolt 24 crosses yet another washer 27 interposed between the die 23 and the cheek 14. The smaller-diameter part of the washer 26 is slightly less high than the thickness of the cheek 14, so that, by tightening more or less the nut 25, the angular displacement of the gutter 18 around the articulation bolt 21 can be slowed to a variable extent.
The ends of the double feet 15 and 16 (also made of .. metal tube) are articulated respectively to the cheeks 14 at two points spaced from each other, by means of bolts, respectively 28 and 29. As the makes clear fig. 8, the ends of the feet 15 and 16 are arranged on either side of each cheek 14 so as to be able to cross freely (position of Figs. 1 and 2). In addition, each cheek 14 carries two stops 30 and 31, arranged along the same axis, respectively on one and the other face of the cheek considered.
These stops are in the form of cylinders with a circular groove in the central part of the cylinder. They are intended to receive the feet 15 and 16 respectively when they are in the crossed position of the ends. 1 and 2. They can be fixed by means of the same threaded rod 32 which passes through the cheek 14 and onto which they are screwed in the manner of nuts.
The ends of the feet 15 and 16 are preferably reinforced in the vicinity of the joints 28 and 29 and the stops 30 and 31. For this purpose, it is possible to have at each end, for example at each end, the feet 15 (fig. 12). and 13), a piece of reinforcing tube 15a, forcibly inserted inside the tube constituting the foot 15 and flattened with the latter to produce the flat lug 15b in which the hole 15c intended for the passage of the bolt d is drilled. 'articulation 28.
The lower cross members of the double legs 15 and 16 have suitable gaskets 33, for example of rubber.
In the unfolded position of fig. 1 and 2, the opposite ends of the two half-frames 1 and 2 are in the extension of one another, as shown in FIG. 8. The set of these two frames is supported by the gutters 18 which can oscillate around the bolts 21, this oscillating movement being however braked to an adjustable extent by the washers 26 and 27 tightened by the nut 25 on the bolt 24. For this purpose, these washers, or at least one of them, can be made of fiber, plastic or other substance capable of forming a brake.
The user can thus switch from the chair position of FIG. 1 to the chaise longue position or relax position of FIG. 2. To fold the appliance, first fold half 1 over half 2 by folding up the armrests 8 and 9 (fig. 5), then rotate the feet. 15 and 16 around their joints 28 and 29 so as to uncross them and to fold them over the set of two half-frames 1 and 2, all as clearly shown by the arrows in FIG. 5. FIG. 3 shows the chair's final folding position.
