composée de résinoïde et d'abrasifs et choisie d'une dureté telle que ses grains d'abrasif ne puissent s'arracher sous l'effort de coupe ou de pression ;
Grinding machine The object of the invention is a grinding machine, comprising a grinding wheel working at its periphery and a grinding device which grinds and profiles the grinding wheel during grinding.
According to the invention, this machine is characterized in that it comprises two nozzles arranged one opposite the other for the adduction of a cooling and lubricating fluid, the orifices of these nozzles being arranged in the vicinity immediate of the work zone, these nozzles matching the periphery of the grinding wheel in the vicinity of said orifices,
in that the fits extend approximately over the entire width of the grinding wheel and adjust automatically as the diameter of the grinding wheel decreases,
and in that the adjustment devices of the nozzles and of the rectifying device are coupled together in such a way that by adjusting the resetting device to a certain extent the nozzles are adjusted to the same extent.
An embodiment of the object of the invention is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing, in which FIGS. 1a and 1b together represent a plan view of the machine with partial sections. Figs. 2a and 2b represent a side view of the machine with partial sections.
Fig. 3 is a rear view of the machine with partial sections with the back wall of the housing removed.
Fig. 4 is a partial side view of the milling wheel, the workpiece and the lubrication nozzles. Fig. 5 is a partial perspective view of the milling wheel and the lubrication nozzles.
Fig. 6 is a diagrammatic front view of the lubrication jets.
Fig. 7 is an enlarged view of the device controlling the longitudinal advancements of the control mechanisms.
Fig. 8 is an enlarged view of the device for exploding the abrasive grains of the milling wheel. In the machine shown in the accompanying drawing, the milling wheel 1 is preferably
composed of resinoid and abrasives and chosen with a hardness such that its abrasive grains cannot tear off under the force of cutting or pressure;
it will also preferably be of the rim grinding wheel type in which the abrasive ring is made integral with a rim 2, the latter being mounted on the web 3 integral with the hub. 4.
This has, in this case, a conical hollow 5 by which the milling wheel is clamped on the conical end 6 of a shaft 7 and wedged, by a tightening nut 8 screwed on the threaded end 9 of the tree and, moreover,
said hub 4 is secured to said conical end 6 by a key 10. Said shaft 7 is supported in a bearing 11 and its axial movement is prevented by a shoulder 12 and a nut 13. On the projecting free end of the shaft 7 is wedged a pulley 14 in relation, by a belt 15, with a pulley 16 wedged on the axis of an electric motor 17.
The bearing 11 and the electric motor are fixed on a platform 18 capable of moving longi tudinally, being supported and guided by slides, sières. 19, 20.
The platform 18 carries a boss 21 having a threaded hole whose longitudinal axis is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the machine. In this boss 21 is engaged a threaded rod 22 extended by a shaft 23 grooved longitudinally over a large part of its length. This shaft 23 crosses axially, along the length of its smooth part,
at least one helical-toothed pinion 24 having, on its outer face, a hollow with a conical inner wall.
A slider 25 engaged on the longitudinally grooved part of this shaft has, directed towards said helical-toothed pinion, on the one hand, a conical end and, on the other hand, a peripheral groove in which the teeth 26 are engaged, 27 of a fork whose pivot axis 28 is provided with an operating lever 29.
A bush 30 is supported, by a ball stop 31, on the one hand, on an end nozzle 32 itself bearing in a ring 33 fixed to the housing 34 and, on the other hand, between the slider 25 and the bush 30, on a return spring 35.
The free end of said shaft 23 is machined, for example in the form of a square end, in order to be able to fix thereon a manual operating member, for example a handwheel or a crank (not shown). The pinion 24 engages permanently with the worm section 36 forming part of a shaft 37 bearing, by its two ends, in a bearing 38, respectively 39, these two bearings being fixed in the housing 34.
To give the maximum stability to the shaft 23, the latter passes, in addition, through an intermediate bearing 40.
Opposite the milling wheel 1 is disposed a bursting tool, in this case shown more specifically in FIGS. 1b, 2b and especially in fig. 8, by a tool 41, in this case a diamond, set in a cylindrical head 42 fixed at the end of a rod 43,
said head being capable of sliding in the front passage of a cylindrical body 44 which houses a return spring 45 bearing, on the one hand, on a shoulder 46 machined in said body 44 and, on the other hand, on a nut 47 screwed onto said rod 43. Said body 44 is closed, at its rear end, by a nut 48 provided with a central orifice 49 through which the corresponding end of the rod 43 passes.
The hollow body 44 serving as a support and guide for the bursting tool thus conditioned is secured to a carriage 50 supported and guided by a slide 51 arranged parallel to the axis of rotation of the milling wheel and secured to a carriage 52 duly supported and guided by parallel slides 53, 54.
Said carriage 52 has a bos sage 55 comprising a threaded hollow whose longitudinal axis is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the machine. This boss 55 is crossed by a threaded rod 56, the pitch of which is equal to, but opposite to that of the threaded rod 22 controlling the longitudinal translational movements of the milling wheel. The threaded rod 56 constitutes, in a way,
one of the end sections of a shaft 57 having a second threaded section 58 of the same pitch but opposite that of the threaded section 56, a smooth section 59 and a longitudinally grooved section 60. The second threaded section 58 is engaged in the threaded passage of a cross member 61 terminated, at each end, by a clamp 62, respectively 63, through which conduits 64, respectively 65, are secured to said cross member 61.
The smooth part 59 carries in a pad 66.
The drive and clutch devices of the shaft 57 are identical to those of the shaft 23. In fact, there is a pinion 24 ', through which the smooth part of the shaft 67 has, on its face. exterior, a hollow with a conical interior wall. A cur seur 25 ', engaged on the longitudinally grooved part 60 of this axis present, directed towards said helical toothed pinion, on the one hand, a conical end and, on the other hand,
a peripheral groove in which are engaged. the teeth 26 ', 27' of a fork whose pivot axis 28 'is provided with an operating lever 29'. A bush 30 'is supported, by a ball stop 31', on the one hand, on a terminal nozzle 32 'itself bearing in a ring 33' fixed to the housing 34 and, on the other hand, between the cur sor 25 'and sleeve 30', on a return spring 35 '.
The free end of said shaft 57 is machined, for example in the form of a square end, so as to be able to also fix a manual operating member (not shown), for example a handwheel or a crank.
The pinion 24 'engages permanently with a second section of the shaft 37 cut in the form of a worm 67. The conduits 64, 65 end in a T-fitting 68 by which these conduits are, via a fitting 69, connected. on a lubricant source. On said conduits 64, 65 are connected nozzles 70, 71 whose conformation and profile are very particular. Indeed, as more specifically represented in FIGS. 4, 5 and 6,
these nozzles are such that they extend over the entire thickness of the milling wheel 1. The shape of these nozzles is such that their face closest to the milling wheel 1 gradually approaches, while approximating it ment, the corresponding part of the peripheral face of the milling wheel. In addition, the mouth 72, respectively 73, of each nozzle is such that they fit as far as possible between l% -, free space,
progressively decreasing, in line with the zone of tangency between the milling wheel 1 and the part to be machined P. The subsidiary conditions that these nozzles must fulfill, respectively the cooperation of these with the milling wheel 1 and the part to be machined P, will be explained in more detail in the description of the operation of the machine.
A branch 74 is also connected to the pipe 64 (FIG. 2b), for example a flexible tube terminating, via the carriage 50, opposite the tip of the tool 41 for bursting the frasso-grindstone.
In order to ensure the transverse movements of the bursting tool, in the presence of the milling wheel, said carriage 50 is, by an appendage 75, made integral with the rod 76 of a piston 77. This fixing is ensured. by a nut 78 engaged on the threaded neckline end of said rod 76.
Said piston 77 is housed in a cylinder 79 and the latter is integral with the aforesaid carriage 52, so that it moves longitudinally, that is to say that it follows all the movements of the carriage 50 housing the tool of burst.
Towards each end of the cylinder 79 leads a conduit 80, respectively 81, in connection with a fluid generator, via a die control device, respectively for adjusting the admission, respectively the discharge of the fluid in these conduits.
The free protruding end of the rod 43 integral with the bursting tool abuts permanently, under the bias of the return spring 45, against a fixed cam 82 exchangeable according to the shape to be obtained on the grinding wheel and fixed on the cylindra 79, for example by means of bolts 83, 84.
In order to cause, respectively control, the longitudinal movements of the mechanisms driven by the common shaft 37, the latter carries, duly wedged, a ratchet wheel 85 and, mounted idle, a balance 86, one end of which carries a pawl 87 articulated on a pivot 88 and the other end of which is connected, by a pivot 89, at the end of a rod 90, the other end of which is integral with a piston 91 housed in a cylinder 92 integral with the housing 34 of the stuff,
via a pivot 93. Towards each end of the cylinder 92 opens a conduit 94, respectively 95, from a source of pressurized fluid, via an operating device, respectively control.
Opposite the ratchet wheel 85, over a certain length of arc, is arranged an arcuate strip 96 coaxial with the ratchet wheel 85. This strip 96 is integral with a portion of toothed ring 97 meshing with a toothed pinion 98 whose axis 99 carries a lever 100. The latter carries a finger 101, axially movable, capable of being engaged in one of the holes 102 of a series of such holes staggered along a strip arched 103 with axis 99 as its center.
The workpiece P is capable of being fixed in the usual manner in turning or other operations. It can, for example, be fixed between a mandrel (not shown) and a point 104. The fixing elements of said part P are mounted on a carriage 105 capable of being moved by means of a screw. -mother 106 and a motor mechanism (not shown).
The device for driving the part P in rotation is not shown; all known means and mechanisms can be used. Opposite the milling wheel and the milling cutter bursting tool, the casing 34 has an opening normally blocked by a flap 107 mounted on a hinge 108.
This shutter 107 can moreover be executed in a transparent material. The various devices described above will obviously be supplemented by all the accessories common to machine tools in general.
The operation of the machine as described above and shown in its essential elements in the appended drawing is understood as follows:
the milling cutter 1 duly wedged on the shaft 7 is driven in rapid rotation, in a continuous manner and in the correct direction, by the electric motor 17 via the pulley 16, the belt 15 and the pulley 14 wedged on said shaft 7.
Said milling wheel 1 attacks the part P by separating quickly and in large quantities from said part P relatively long and very narrow chips. During this operation, the tool for bursting the milling wheel, in this case shown schematically by the hard point 41, is moved in a reciprocating motion along a generatrix of said milling wheel 1 .
This reciprocating movement is obtained by the admission, respectively the exhaust, of a pressurized fluid, alternately through one and the other of the conduits 80, 81 leading to the two ends of the cylinder 79.
As a result, the piston 71 is alternately urged on one and then on the other face, which drives the rod 76 and the carriage 50 in the same back and forth movement. This carriage 50 is integral with the whole,
formed by the hollow body 44 and the tool holder and the grinding wheel bursting tool. The carriage 50 is thus guided by the slide 51 in a reciprocating rectilinear movement in a direction parallel to the axis of rotation of the milling wheel. However, during this transverse rec tilinear movement,
the bursting tool is driven by an axial translational movement by the fact that it is permanently biased by the spring 45 forcing the rear end of the rod 43 to be held in. permanent contact with the fixed cam 82.
The guide path presented to said rod 43 by said cam 82 has a profile identical to the profile to be kept on the milling wheel 1.
As a result, the bursting tool 41 follows a path strictly identical to the desired profile of the milling wheel and, consequently, the latter keeps this correct profile until complete wear of the milling wheel.
Due to the very action of the bursting tool 41 on the milling wheel, the latter is progressively and very slowly reduced in diameter, which entailed the obligation of a continual movement of approach between said tool. burst and the center of the millstone. In the machine described,
this approximation is produced by a translational movement of the entire mechanism carrying the burst tool and its means of -transversal displacement. To this end, the shaft 57 is automatically imparted a rotational movement in perfect agreement with the progressive reduction in the diameter of the milling wheel 1.
The direction of rotation of said shaft 57 is such that the carriage 52 carrying the entire complex on which the movements of the exploding tool depend moves in the direction of the milling wheel at a speed correlative to said reduction in diameter.
At the same time, the whole assembly consisting of the milling wheel 1, its drive mechanism, the tool for bursting the milling cutter and its drive mechanisms, must be driven by a translational movement in the direction of the part to be machined P, this movement being determined by the working conditions and the depth of the hollow parts to be machined.
This general translational movement is caused by the automatic rotation of the threaded rod 22, which, by rotating around its longitudinal axis, moves the boss 21, thus causing the platform 18 and all the integral elements in the same movement. of this platform. This translational movement is therefore carried out in the same direction as the aforementioned translational movement of the bursting tool of the milling wheel.
Finally, it is: essential that the lubrication nozzles 70, 71 are also moved, progressively, in proportion to the reduction in diameter of the milling wheel 1, but this movement, while being quantitatively equal to that which drives the 'bursting tool,
must be carried out in the opposite direction in order to ensure a constant projection of lubricant towards the zone of tangency between the workpiece and the milling wheel. This movement of the nozzles 70, 71 is caused by the rotation of the threaded section 58 of the shaft 57.
The in version of the translational movement of the nozzles 70, 71 relative to the axial translational movement of the tool for bursting the milling wheel results from the fact that the thread of this section 58 has been provided in the direction opposite to the thread. of section 56.
The presence of the longitudinal grooves at the end of the shafts 23 and 57 allows said axial translational movements without preventing the driving in rotation of said shafts 23 and 57 and of the members which they carry. The synchronization of these different translational movements is ensured by the common value pitch for the threaded sections 22, 56, 58 by identical drive means for said shafts. 23. And 57 and, finally, by a common drive means for this, two shafts.
Shafts 23 and 57 can easily be driven in rotation, independently of one another, and manually. In this regard, it suffices, for the shaft 23, to actuate the lever 29 in order to remove the conical head of the slider 25 with respect to the hollow with the conical interior wall of the pinion 24. The disengagement of the shaft 23, c7e-, that is to say its independence from the shaft 24, is thus achieved almost instantaneously. drive shaft 37 and members dependent thereon.
By mounting on the square end of the shaft 23 with a crank or a handwheel, the threaded rod 22 can be rotated and thus move at will, in: one direction or the other, the platform 18 and all the organs carried or integral with it. One can, in particular, by this means, bring the milling wheel 1 dan-, a correct starting position, in particular in proportion to the part to be machined P.
Likewise, the shaft 57 can be actuated individually by appropriately acting on the lever 29 ', which has the effect of separating the slider 25' from the pinion 24 '. By applying a crank or a flywheel to the square end of the shaft 57, the two threaded sections at the same time can be rotated, opposite each other 56, 58, which ipso facto leads to a variation in the relative positions between, on the one hand, the milling wheel 1 and its splitting tool and, on the other hand, the milling wheel 1 and its nozzles. lubrication 70, 71.
On the other hand, when the two mechanisms for disengaging the shafts 23, 57 are in the normal position, as shown in particular in FIG. lb, said shafts are made integral with their respective pinion 24, 24 '; these pinions mesh permanently with the endless screw section 36, respectively 67, of the common drive shaft 37.
It is then sufficient: to judiciously organize the rotational movements: of this shaft 37 to ensure perfect synchronism between the various movements of the machine, as described above. To this end, it suffices, first of all, to bring the lever 100 into the position which corresponds to the number of teeth of the ratchet wheel 85 that one wishes to discover, that is to say of which one wishes that said ratchet wheel 85 moves with each movement of the ratchet balance 86-88.
By moving said lever 100, the pinion 98 is rotated around the axis 99 and the portion of the ring gear 97 is driven in one direction or the other, which corresponds to a movement to the left. or to the right of the opposite end of the covering strip 96. It is possible, for example, to make each hole 102 correspond to a tooth of the ratchet wheel 85, so that said lever 100, brought successively opposite the holes 102 numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,: etc., will determine the discovery of one, two, three, four, five, etc. teeth.
As the angular oscillation movement of the balance 86 is constant, given that it is determined by the constant amplitude of the reciprocating rectilinear stroke of the piston 91 in the cylinder 92, it follows, by this simple means, that can easily preset the law of rotational displacement of the common shaft 37 and, consequently, the law of rectilinear synchronized displacements of the platform 18,
of the cutting tool of the milling wheel and the lubrication nozzles of said milling wheel. The admission, respectively the control of the pressurized fluid, both in said cylinder 92, alternately, via the conduits 94, 95, and in the cylinder 79 controlling the burst tool-holder carriage, alternately via the conduits 80, 81 , will be done by any means known per se.
