Trap to lock When a door is closed, a latch 1 arranged in the door lock usually comes to rest in an opening 2 arranged on the door frame. This will hold the door firmly in its closed position. In most cases, the latch can be retracted into the lock using the so-called door handle. Then the door is free to move again. The so-called strike plate 3 is usually screwed on over the recess in the wood of the door frame for snapping the latch.
The latch itself is usually designed in such a way that it slides back (position B) when the door is closed when it hits the strike plate (position A) and in When the door is in the closed position, it snaps into the aforementioned frame opening (positions C and D).
When the door is closed, the parallel to the sliding direction of the bolt, contrary to the drawing up to the front of the head reaching surface 4 and the associated closing edge of the striking plate 5 must lie in exactly the same plane with known A directions. If the mentioned edge 5 of the striking plate 3 protrudes only slightly, the latch 1 cannot at all be brought into engagement with the edge 5 of the striking plate 3 and thus the door cannot be closed properly. If, on the other hand, it stands back, the door does not close properly: the door moves with the slightest vibration or air movement, and the notorious rattling of the door occurs.
Another problem with the door latches in use today is the considerable noise that occurs when the door is closed when metal hits metal. The above invention is intended to remedy these disadvantages.
The illustrated in Fig. 1 and 2, an example of the subject invention trap is to be made of plastic in order to dampen the noise. In addition, its rear surface 4 parallel to the sliding direction of the door latch 1 is beveled at the front. The Win angle a of the corresponding bevel 6 is smaller than the angle of friction of the plastic used, which it has with respect to the material from which the edge 5 of the striking plate 3 that comes into engagement with the bevel is made. This edge can now come to lie at any point within the dimension a without the closing of the door being affected. This compensates for the door warping within a certain range.
The arrow P indicates the spring force against which the latch is pushed back and which causes the latch to be shot into the strike plate.
