Le pis ton 10 comporte, vers l'obturateur 5, une queue tubulaire 12 dans laquelle peut coulisser avec jeu une tige axiale 13 rendue solidaire de l'ob turateur 5 et de son support 6. La tige 13 porte un clapet auxiliaire 14 destiné à coopérer avec un siège de l'extrémité de la queue 12, tandis que le piston 10 est percé d'un orifice 15 suf= fisamment étroit pour ne pas empêcher son re- foulement par la pression exercée. par la com mande au pied;
Device for dispensing a liquid The object of the invention is a device for dispensing a liquid, particularly intended for use as a drawing device in dispensing systems water under pressure.
In many cases, especially in household or sanitary installations, it is in the interest of providing the user with a device for controlling the drawing of water which leaves him free to use both hands. This is why foot-controlled devices have been proposed, but until now these devices have encountered practical difficulties by causing the obligation to run pipes in the ground at the very location of the organ. control.
This is why the distribution of these devices has not been as successful as the advantages of foot control would have justified; these advantages are particularly important for hot water draw-off devices, since the foot control allows the user to adjust the flow and stop it even if his hands are not available, which leads to savings significant hot water particularly interesting when the hot water reserve is limited.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the device for dispensing a liquid which is the subject of the invention. 1 has indicated the body of the valve comprising an inlet pipe 2 and an outlet pipe 3. Between the two pipes 2 and 3 is provided an annular seat 4 which is associated with a shutter 5 mounted on a support 6 which is pushed towards the seat by a spring 7 which can bear, for example, on a shoulder of a tubular outlet connector 8,
so that the spring is provided to close the valve against the pressure of the inflow of water which is exerted inside the seat 4.
On the side opposite to the pipe 3, the body of the valve is extended by a cylinder 9 in which a piston 10 fitted with a sealing ring 11 moves. The ring 11 could be chosen so that it does not produce an absolute seal and allows a slow flow of water between the piston and the cylinder for the automatic filling of the hydraulic control transmission. However, in the example shown, another wise step has been provided for this automatic filling.
The udder 10 comprises, towards the shutter 5, a tubular tail 12 in which can slide with play an axial rod 13 made integral with the shutter 5 and its support 6. The rod 13 carries an auxiliary valve 14 intended for cooperate with a seat at the end of the tail 12, while the piston 10 is pierced with an orifice 15 sufficiently narrow not to prevent its backflow by the pressure exerted. by foot control;
when this pressure from the control is not exerted, the pressure of the water arriving through the pipe 2 separates the valve 14 from the seat of the tail 12, allowing the water to pass through the orifice 15 to complete the filling of the hydraulic transmission when the shutter 5 is applied to its seat.
As indicated, the narrow orifice 15 and the valve 14 are not essential and their role can be fulfilled by the sealing ring 11 if the latter provides a clearance allowing the additional filling of the hydraulic transmission. without preventing its action.
The bottom of cylinder 9 communicates through the threadlike tube 16 with the cylinder 17 of the actuating device. This cylinder is embedded in the ground and receives a control piston 18 with sealing ring 19.
The piston 18 can move inside the cylinder 17 below an annular cap 20 screwed into the enlarged upper end of the cylinder 17, while the piston 18. is extended through the cap 20 by a rod. 21, the threaded end of which receives a pedal head 22 re pushed upwards with the piston by the action of a spring 23 compressed between the cap 20 and the head 22.
The piston 18 and the rod 21 are pierced with an air purge channel 24 which is closed by mounting the head 22 with the interposition of a seal 25.
To the head 22 which is preferably pierced with holes 26 -serving the passage of air and the screwing and unscrewing of this head, is fixed a flexible dome 27, the periphery of which is applied to the surface of the ground; this dome, which protrudes very little above the ground, flattens out when the pedal is pressed to control the opening of the valve and the air trapped under this dome can escape through the holes 26 without opposing resistance to foot pressure.
The operation of the device will now be described.
In the rest position, that is to say when the pedal is not pressed, the shutter 5 is held in the closed position of the valve by the spring 7 which applies it against its seat 4. The inlet pressure of water which is exerted by the pipe 2 pushes the piston 10, the tail 12 of which moves slightly away from the valve 14, so that the pressurized water can pass through the pipe 16 to the cylinder 17 of the positive device actuation, the piston of this cylinder being pushed up to the maximum.
For the control to function normally, any air from cylinder 17 must be evacuated and it suffices for this to remove the pedal head 22 which opens the purge channel 24, while replacing this head 22 closes this head. channel.
If one presses on the pedal, the piston 18, pushed downwards, pushes the water through the tube 16 towards the cylinder 9. The piston 10 is pushed towards the tube 3; from the start of this movement, the tail 12 is applied to the pet valve 14, so that the liquid discharged through the pipe 16 cannot pass through the piston 10 and the latter undergoes a displacement proportional to the lowering of the pedal; at the same time the piston 10 pushes, by the rod 13, the support 6 the shutter 5 is thus moved away from the seat 4 allowing the flow of water through the tap at a rate which depends on the pressure exerted on the pedal.
As soon as the pedal is abandoned, the latter is pushed upwards by the action of the spring 23 and the hydraulic transmission fluid is sucked into the cylinder 17, while the piston 10 is brought back by the pressurized water supplying the tap; the organs return to their resting position, causing the shutter to close. Feed water may flow slowly around seal 11 or. through hole 15 to compensate for any losses of liquid in the hydraulic transmission.
It will be noted that the control is remarkably precise and that the flow can be adjusted so as to obtain the exactly desired flow rate, even a very low one. The arrangement of the two cylinders 9 and 17 and of the two pistons 10 and 18 makes it possible to choose the sections of the cylinders, so that the control is carried out under a suitable force, whatever the pressure of the water inlet. .
If, for example, the internal diameter of cylinder 17 is two times smaller than that of cylinder 9, the stroke of the pedal will be four times that of piston 10 and the force exerted on it will be four times greater. greater than the force exerted on the pedal; thus, the hydraulic transmission can play the role of force multiplier with a corresponding reduction in stroke.
At 28, a cap screwed onto the connector 8 has been indicated to be applied on the surface of a wall 29 if the valve is fitted inside this wall as assumed in the drawings. The connector 8 can receive a fixed flow spout 30 terminated by a jet breaker or a shower head. A tower flow spout could be mounted in a pipe with a vertical axis of a cap similar to the cap 28 but extending beyond the connector 8 by this vertical tube.
The device according to the invention can be used not only as a draw-off valve, but also as a shut-off valve, for example to initiate a flush of water by supplying the siphon of the flushing tank.
