Motor-driven household appliance for culinary uses The object of the present invention is a motor-driven household appliance for culinary uses, with accessory equipment, comprising a portable hollow frame of insulating material containing an electric motor coupled with a rotating shaft which s 'extends out of this frame and whose outer end is suitable for supporting a removable tool suitable for working by its rotation a culinary preparation having fluidity, apparatus in which this shaft is mounted in a protective tube which is fixed to said frame and which supports, distributed around said tool, pallets extending parallel to the axis of rotation and having to be immersed with the tool in said culinary preparation.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, one embodiment of this apparatus according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is an overview of the appliance in the operating position.
Fig. 2 is an axial section on a double scale of the lower part of the apparatus shown in FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 is an end view from below of FIG. 2.
The apparatus shown comprises a hollow frame 2, made of insulating material, the dimensions of which allow it to be held in one hand. This frame contains an electric motor 3 which is coupled with a rotating shaft 4 which extends out of it and whose outer end is able to support one or the other of various removable accessory tools such as the tool shown 5 which has three blades cut from a flat metal disk.
This shaft 4 is mounted in a protective tube 7 which is fixed to the frame 2 and which supports, by means of a disc 9, pallets 8 distributed around the tool 5. These pallets, which extend up to beyond this tool in the direction parallel to the axis, are integral, by one end, with the disc 9 which covers the rotating tool 5 and whose face 9b, opposite this tool, is convex. The disc 9 is integral with a sleeve 9a, an internal thread 12 of which allows mounting on a corresponding external thread 13 terminating the tube 7.
This sleeve also contains a sealing gasket 14 slightly compressed between the end of the thread 13 and a ring 15 that a radial screw fixes to the shaft 4, so that any play of this shaft is removed so that the culinary preparation 6 in which the tool is to be immersed is prevented from entering the space between the shaft 4 and the tube 7.
In the central part of the tool 5 in flat metal is drilled a hole in which is riveted a barrel 16 normal to the faces of this part and adjusted with semi-hard friction on the end of the shaft 4 which extends to the side. beyond the ring 15. This barrel has at least one longitudinal slot 17 extending over part of its length from its free end opposite the tool, which gives it flexibility and allows by tightening it imposes a slight permanent deformation on it so that the wall of the barrel must be forced to flex elastically outwards when the barrel is put in place and a reaction of elasticity of this wall determining a semi-hard friction between it and the shaft 4.
The barrel 16 also has a notch 18 in its wall at its free end and the shaft 4 carries an ankle 19 in radial run-out which is made to penetrate into this notch during assembly of the tool 5. This town drives the barrel 16 in rotation by one of the sides of the notch as soon as the preparation offers to the rotation of the disc in it a greater torque than that of the aforementioned semi-hard friction.
The pallets 8 shown are blades with parallel faces and are arranged so that these faces are in planes parallel to the axis of the shaft 4 and also distant from this axis. Each face therefore has two edges which are at unequal distances from the axis and form, with a plane P containing this axis and led tangentially to its outer edge, an acute angle A which is equal to 20 in the example shown but which may vary. between 10o and 45 from one to the other of other embodiments of the apparatus, the motors of which may also have different speed speeds.
The direction of inclination A of the pallets depends on the direction of rotation of the tool such that that of the edges of each pallet which is closest to the axis is further forward than the outer edge with respect to the direction of this rotation as indicated by arrow f.
The inner edges of the pallets, shown as straight and parallel to the axis, could project further inward in the region above the tool in the working position.
The receptacle R, shown in FIG. 1, can be the one in which the food beaten, kneaded or chopped by the tool is to be served.
The inclination A of the vanes has the effect of directing towards the tool the parts of the fluid preparation which strike them, which they are caused by viscosity effect to turn in the same direction as the tool. Independently of this inclination, the paddles serve to slow down the circular entrainment of the material and to create swirls there which are useful for modifying the consistency of the materials being worked.
The tool shown with three cutting blades is used mainly to chop, grind and knead products used in the preparation of mash, soups, sauces, desserts, etc., such as potatoes, carrots, beans, peas, onions, turnips, etc.
The apparatus may include other removable accessory tools provided with a barrel 16 such as tool 5. They may have the following three forms: that of a simple smooth disc, normal to the axis, that of a disc. smooth warped so that it has faces forming an acute angle with a plane normal to the axis, angle less than five degrees, or finally that of a disc of one or the other of these two forms but openwork by a series of perforations.
The speed of rotation of the shaft 4 is of the order of 8,000 to 10,000 revolutions per minute.
The disc carrying the pallets could be flat.
The top of the disc 9 is convex to facilitate the flow of the treated material from its surface when the tool is removed from the container R.
