verflüchtigt sieh das i#leth#,-läthvlketon.
Process for the production of cell bodies with closed cells In the production of cell bodies with closed cells from thermoplastic masses, the latter i, after the dissolving of gases in them under increased pressure, and gelling of the masses under the increased pressure at elevated temperature, cooling and depressurization from the shape -taken out, with a first expansion, for example to 2--4 times the original volume with the formation of a rudimentary cell body as an intermediate product, the raw cell body,
takes place. This contains the Gw, under a considerable excess pressure of for example 2-9 At.m. The main expansion of the intermediate product thus obtained to the multiple, e.g. B. 10-20faehe, the original loaned volume to form the expanded cell body then takes place in a known manner by heating the structure, for. B. in a heating tank or by hot gases under normal pressure conditions.
The heat brings the mass into the plastically extensible state, so that it can follow the expansion pressure of the gases and expand.
It has now been established that when executing the expansion of the raw cell body in the usual manner mentioned, considerable losses of gases and of soft mowing and; or solvents take place, which have an adverse effect on the cell body or on its formation.
The gas losses have the disadvantage that some of the gases for the expansion effect are lost, so that the expansion of the raw cell body does not take place to the extent that it would correspond to the amount of gas introduced. Cell bodies are therefore not as light as they should result from the amount of gases introduced. The losses of plasticizers and / or solvents have other disadvantages.
During the manufacture of the cell body, solvents are added to the plastic materials, for example, to achieve temporary softening or to promote the gas solution. Solvents also act as plasticizers. For example, a polyvinyl chloride with a high content of solvents or plasticizers is considerably more flexible during expansion than a material that contains little of such agents. If a raw cell body freshly removed from the mold is then heated up with its high gas pressure in the.
Inside in the warmth, in a normal warming tank with circulated air, not only does a gas loss occur, but also the solvent, which acts as a grinder, is evaporated and quickly carried away. Such warm-up benches usually also create a constant breath of air to prevent excessive enrichment of the circulating air. and to carry away the circulating air that may have been enriched with solvent.
This disadvantage lets you see in the closed space, e.g. B. in an autoclave, especially when you work with CTasüberdruelz, avoid very well.
In such a case, if one wants to avoid the loss of solution and2 or Weiehmaeher completely to produce special effects, it is advantageous to additionally enrich the printing medium with solvents and / or whiteners, preferably those that are already in the target body . This considerably prevents the evaporation of solvents.
One achieves the effect. That not as usual in the. Heat tank solvents or whitening grinders can be removed from the outer surfaces of the cell bodies, which means.
these outer surfaces change into a more solid state much faster than the inner parts of the cell body. Such evaporation of the solvent medium with the expansion limitation brought about by it often leads to deformations and above all to a much weaker expanded product, i.e. a higher spec. Weight than actually corresponds to the amount of propellant gas supplied. The state of tension in the outer parts is much greater than in the interior.
This keeps the cell body inside. a gas pressure valve that is much too large, as its expansion is inhibited from the outside. A consistent product is. not to be achieved in this way at all. The solvent losses during the expansion in the heat tank prevent the expansion of the raw cell body so much that a considerable excess of grass remains in the cells,
so that after the expansion in the cell body there is still a gas excess of, for example, 0.3-0.5 Atm. finds. Not only volatile solvents, but also soft mulchers partly evaporate when heated on the surface, whereby the cell bodies in the outer places lose their softness and elasticity to some extent.
It has now been found that these losses can be limited very well by not doing the expansion of the raw cell body, as has been the case up to now, directly by heating in free space with the usual strong air circulation, but rather the expansion or a substantial one Expansion is prevented until the raw cell body is evenly warmed through.
A slight expansion is without disadvantage, only the main expansion has to take place when the raw cell body is completely warmed through. This is achieved according to the invention in that one. the heating of the Rühzellkörpers under counter pressure, d. h. by applying pressure from the outside against the roll cell body and only then causes the hot raw cell body to expand by relieving it from the counter pressure.
The counter pressure - can, for example, be 2-9 kg / em2, i.e. about just as strong as the gas pressure in the interior of the by-product as it occurs after the e-as-containing product has cooled down and has been relieved of pressure Mass and removal from the mold. But you can also at a higher pressure, for.
B. 10-1 2 atm.,. or in the case of a lower pressure, which however is always chosen in such a way that no or only a slight expansion of the raw cell body takes place. One will choose the pressure nveekinässit such that on the one hand it largely prevents the escape of gases through diffusion,
and that, on the other hand, it substantially reduces the loss of solvents or mashing agents. The counter pressure can be brought about in any way. The raw cell body is expediently placed in an autoclave and heated with a gel - the final product of the same gas or gas as it is in the cells.
If the mass has been gassed with nitrogen, then it is advantageous to inject nitrogen or air as gas into the autoclave. However, the counter pressure can also be generated in any other way, for example by means of inert liquids. By means of a rigid 'medium, e.g.
B. medium.,; the same effect can also be achieved by means of a pressing surface, or by means of heating in a form lying against the roller cell body. The autoclave, the mold, the gases, the liquid in which the raw cell body is located can be heated in any desired way, e.g.
B. by steam, electricity, by ultrared rays, etc. The raw cell body is set to the temperatures necessary for the expansion, which are close to below the flow limit, at Pol, # - vi-nylehlorid for example at 1.00 -12011, it is even possible, in certain cases, at temperatures that are at or above the flow limit, e.g.
B. 1400 at Pcklyvinylehlorid, work th, which must not be so high that the cell body structure would be destroyed. The raw cell body is heated under counter pressure until it is evenly warmed through. If you take after the end of Durehwärmung the raw cell body, the duration of which depends on the thickness, the pressure, z. B. the gas pressure in the autoclave away without changing the temperature, so expands. the cell body looks much wider than was the case with the previously common method of warming up.
A lower spec. Weight is the result.
With the previous normal manufacturing technology of warming up such cell material in a warming tank at normal pressure, it was only possible to spec. Weights to reach about 0.04.
With the help of the gas counterpressure process in the autoclave and the prevention of solvent and gas losses, the raw cell body produced in the same way can be easily processed except for a specific Ge weight of about 0.02 and also expand below.
If, for example, hard cell material is produced in which no softeners are used at all, but in which the gas absorption is caused exclusively by the addition of solvents, this solvent acts solely as a softener during expansion and enables strong expansion.
The economic advantage is not only that you have lower spec. Certainly achieved with the help of the counter pressure process. 3, ran can also work with a lower percentage of solvents, since solvent quantities are avoided, and still achieve an excellent expansion of the cell material.
It is known that the fully expanded soft cell bodies are still unstable after their production, d. h. over time they change their dimensional stability through shrinkage. This disadvantage can be eliminated with an additional stabilizing treatment.
The method according to the invention makes it possible to produce cell bodies whose gas pressure in the cells corresponds to the atmospheric pressure. show no tension in the cell walls caused by Ga.s- übern-tek. As a result, the finished cell body cannot show signs of dullness, which can be attributed to excessive pressure in the cells.
This occurs especially when the intermediate product contains a lot of solvents or plasticizers and is evenly warmed under pressure at temperatures at which it can be seen when the pressure is released until the gas pressure inside the cells is completely equalized with the Atmosphere can expand.
During the production of the cell bodies, the gases are dissolved in the thermoplastic masses under increased pressure. This can be done by introducing the gases from the outside under pressure into the finely divided mass, for example, and dissolving them therein, or by incorporating propellants into the mass, which split off in the heat CT'as,
which dissolve in the mass under the increased pressure. Especially when using propellants, the gas losses during expansion are often very large. For example, in the case of compounds containing polyvinyl chloride, the residual propellant bodies often have the property of depriving the polyvinyl chloride of its resistance to class diffusion, so that the cell body does not get approximately the size it should actually have during expansion.
The present proceedings have. have been shown to be particularly suitable for the production of closed cell cell bodies using propellants.
As thermoplastic masses come mainly polymers such. B. polyvinyl chloride or copolymers of vinyl chloride, such as. B. those which consist of 951 / o vinyl chloride and 5 O / c, vinyl acetate, are in question, to which the necessary solvents and / or white-niTden added -w-tiTden. However, other thermoplastics can also be used,
such as polystyrene, pol.vakiylverbindungen and cellulose acetate, can be used.
Examples 1. A mixture of 50 parts by weight of polyvinyl chloride, well stabilized, 50 parts by weight of dioethylplithalate and 20 parts by weight of methyl ethyl ketone manufactured in such a way that a fine powder is produced in which, in a known manner, in a g at closing form, an amount of nitrogen gas that is about 15 liters per ko, finished mixture, is dissolved under increased pressure.
It is gelled and cooled by subsequent heating, the pressure is removed and the product is removed from the mold. As a result, this expands to about 4 times its volume, so2 #. Contains raw cell bodies and Lind. inside the 0 as enclosed in the cells, which is now under a pressure of about 10 atil.
The raw cell body is placed in an autoclave and this is filled with a pressure of about 7 kgfem2 nitrogen gas. Now it is warmed up to about 1,000. The volume of the raw body does not change. The increase in pressure caused by the temperature takes place simultaneously both in the autoclave and in the raw cell body.
The solvent does not evaporate appreciably, so that it continues to give the product its softening effect. Depending on the size of the raw cell body, it is evenly heated in, for example, 60 minutes.
Once this has been reached, the pressure is removed from the autoclave and the heated raw cell body is allowed to expand freely under normal pressure. -After cooling and evaporation of the solvent, a cell body with a volume weight of about 0.06-0.07 is created. The material is well suited for upholstery n #, eeke.
2. A mixture of 50 parts by weight of polyvinyl chloride or copolymers of vinyl chloride and 50 parts by weight of dioethyl phthalate and 20 parts by weight of methyl ethyl ketone is produced in such a way that a fine powder is produced. This is fed as described in example 1 . The gaseous mass is then gelled in a known manner at elevated temperature.
cooled, the pressure removed and the product removed from the mold, forming the raw cell body. The raw cell hearing aid is then heated in the autoclave to about 900 below 5-6 Atm. Counterpressure. It stretches a bit and after its (yleieli-moderate warming), you remove the C,
rasdriiek and allows the raw cell body to expand freely under normal pressure. The cell body produced in this way is expediently noeli subjected to a stabilizing treatment.
For this purpose it is heated, for example, in a heating tank under normal pressure at temperatures of about 100-1101 ', for example for 2-4 hours, whereby it initially expands a little and then more or less unipods during the continuation of the treatment.
volatilized see the i # leth #, - läthvlketon. The cell body is then cooled down to normal temperature. A largely forin-resistant cell body is obtained, which no longer shows any noticeable blurring.
3. A mixture of 100 parts by weight of polyvinyl chloride, well stabilized, and 45 parts by weight of aeeton is produced in such a way that a fine powder is created. The further processing takes place as indicated in the example 1 .
but with a gas supply of about 25 liters per kg of finished misehuna. The raw cell body is treated in the same way as in example 1., and a hard cell material is created near the evaporation of the solvent. The material has a bulk density of about 0.035, and can be used for insulation purposes.
4. In a mixture of 64 parts by weight of polyvinyl chloride, well stabilized, 36 parts by weight of dioetyl phthalate or the like - # A7eielimaeher and 12 parts by weight of ethyl acetate, a mixture gas is dissolved under increased pressure, which consists of 90 < / B> Vohmiteilen hydrogen and 10 parts by volume of nitrogen. About 10 liters of mixed gas are added per kg finished product.
Further treatment then takes place as in example 1. The resulting raw cell body receives a spec. Weight of about, 0.12. DruA can be generated in the autoclave with nitrogen gas, provided that the small amount of nitrogen gas that may penetrate into the interior of the cells is not perceived as disturbing. Otherwise it is advisable to warm up in a hydrogen-starch mixture, exactly as it was used for driving.
After the expansion under normal pressure, the cell body may only be freed of its skins depending on its thickness or at the same time split up into usable strengths. Hydrogen gas is removed by diffusion and the cell body or the. Treated on stringed plates to eliminate the wrinkling effect here or subsequently at the appropriate temperature.
The result is a completely tension-free cell material, which is good to use for sole purposes, with a spec. Weighted by about 0.5.
- 5. A mixture of 50 parts by weight of polyvinyl chloride, 50 parts by weight of Dioet -, # "l-plithalat and about 12 parts by weight of one ss propellants, such as
Azc> isobitttersäuredinitril, is produced in a known manner. The propellants are very diverse and not permanent substances. It is therefore not possible to specify the exact amount used. The amount of propellant is chosen so that about 15 liters of nitrogen gas per kg, split off ready-mixed mixture. A well-closing mold is filled with the finished mixture in a known manner. By heating under pressure. the propellant decomposes and the resulting Stiekstoffuas dissolved in the mass.
It is gelled, cooled, relieved of pressure and the product is removed from the mold, forming a so-called raw cell body. Further processing takes place as in example 1. It is created. a cell body with a density of about 0.070. The autoclave treatment under counter pressure has a positive effect here.
With simple warm-up and expansion ini. The product usually has a density of 0.09 with the above stated amount of propellant. It can be used for upholstery purposes.
6. A mixture of 100 parts by weight of well stabilized polyvinyl chloride and 40 parts by weight of acetone and 20 parts by weight of propellant (azoisobutyric acid edinitrile) is prepared and as in example 5 </ B> processed into a raw cell body. The raw cell body is then heated in the - autoclave as in example 1 under counter pressure and. then expanded by relieving the back pressure.
After evaporation of the solvent, a hard cell body of about 0.035 spec. Blows. It serves as an insulation material.
7. In a mixture of 64 parts by weight of polyvinyl chloride, well stabilized, and 36 parts by weight of dioetyl phthalate or a similar plasticizer, the amount thereof is increased with increased pressure from Kohlerissä-Lireo, as is about 10 liters per kg finished mixture, dissolved. It is processed further as indicated in example 1 .
The resulting Rolizellkörper receives a spec. Weight of about 0.10. The pressure is generated in the autoclave with nitrogen gas. After the expansion under Niormal, druek je according to its thickness, the cell body is possibly only freed from its skins or at the same time split into brewed starches a1 - d. The carbonic acid gas is removed by diffusion and during this process some air goes into the cells.
The cell body or the cut-open plates are subsequently treated at the appropriate temperature to remove the shrinkage field. A cell material with a spec. Weight of about, 0.35. The closed cells are now no longer filled with CO2, but with air.
