Additional patent to main patent no, 297018. Process for the production of an intermediate product. It has been found that a valuable intermediate product is obtained if a 2,4-dinitro-1-halogeri-benzene-6-sulfonic acid methylamide is treated with an alkaline earth metal hydroxide and the 2,4- 1) initro-l-oxy-benzene-6-sulfonic acid methylamide reduces the nitro group in the 2-position to the amino group.
The new intermediate product obtainable in this way, (las 4-nitro-2-amino-1-oxy-benzene-6-sulfonic acid inethylamide, forms a yellow-brown powder which is obtained in pure form by dissolving from aqueous sodium carbonate solution and acidification and then dried melts with decomposition at 160. It is suitable for the production of dyes.
The 2,4 dinitro-1-halo-benzene-6-sulfonsanre-methyl amides used as starting materials are also new compounds that can be obtained by reacting 2,4-dinitro -1-halo-benzene-6-sulfonic acid halo genides, such as 2,4-dinitro-l-bromo-benzene-, 6-sulphonic acid bromide or 2,4-dinitro-l-bromo-benzene-6-sulphonic acid chloride and especially 2,4- 1)
initro-l-chloro-benzene-6-sulfonic acid chloride, with methylamine. The 2,4-dinitro-1-halo-benzene-6-sulfonic acid halides can for their part be prepared from the corresponding 2,4-dinitro-1-halo-benzene-6-sulfonic acids by treatment with the for converting sulfonic acids into the corresponding acid halides gebräuchli chen means such.
B. PBr3, PC15, POC13; Particularly good results are obtained with chlorosulfonic acid. The reaction of the 2,4-dinitro-1-halo-benzene-6-sulfonic acid halides thus obtainable with methylamine is advantageously carried out in an aqueous medium.
To replace the halogen atom in the 1-position of the amides obtainable with an oxy group, hydroxide is used as alkaline earth metal, for B. barium hydroxide, but preferably calcium hydroxide, in the heat, advantageously at the boiling point of the reaction mixture cal, used.
The reduction of the nitro group bonded in the 2-position to the amino group in the 2,4-dinitro-1-oxy-benzene-6-sulfonic acid methylamide thus obtained, without simultaneous reduction of the xitro group in the 4-position, can after- per se known Me methods, z.
B. with the help of alkali sulfhydrates, such as sodium sulfhydrate, or alkaline earth sulfhydrates, such as calcium or magnesium sulfhydrate. Example: 305 parts of 2,4-dinitro-1-chloro-benzene-6-sulphonic acid sodium are added in small portions to 1200 parts of chlorosulphonic acid with stirring at room temperature and the whole thing for four hours to 150 to 155 heated.
After the reaction mass has cooled, it is poured onto 3000 parts of ice and the precipitated 2,4-dinitro-1-chloro-benzene-6-sulphonic acid chloride is filtered off (melting point of the product recrystallized from ether 104 to 106). The moist paste, washed neutrally with ice water, is stirred with 200 parts of water and 300 parts of ice and 75 parts of methylamine are added dropwise over the course of one hour.
The mixture is then stirred for a few more hours, finally acidified with hydrochloric acid and filtered. The resulting filter lush of 2,4-dinitro-1-chloro-benzene-6-sulfonic acid methylamide is introduced into a partial solution or suspension of 185 parts of calcium hydroxide in 800 parts of water and the whole is refluxed for four hours. After acidification with hydrochloric acid, the precipitated 2,4-dinitro-1-oxyben7ol-6-sulfonic acid methylamide is filtered off with suction.
The prodLdit is dissolved at 30 in 200 parts of water and 50 parts of 30% strength sodium hydroxide solution and, after addition of a solution of 80 parts of sodium sulfhydrate in 100 parts of water, stirred for 1 hour, the temperature rising to 60 taking place. After acidifying with hydrochloric acid, the resulting 4-nitro-2-amino-1-oxy-benzene-6-sulfonate methylamide is filtered off.
