Process for the preparation of a monoazo dye. It has been found that a valuable monoazo dye is obtained if diazotized 2-amino-5- (4'-tertiary-butylbenzoylamino) -benzene-1-sulfonic acid - N-ethylphenylamide in an acidic medium with 2-amino- 8-oxynaplithalin-6-sulfonic acid couples.
The new dye is a dark powder that dissolves in water with a blue-red color and dyes wool from an acetic acid bath in blue-red shades with excellent wetness properties.
The 2-amino-5- (4'-tertiary hutylbenzoylamino) -benzene-1-sulfonsä.ure-N-ätliyl-plienylamid serving as starting material can be obtained, for example, by adding 2,5-diaminobenzene-l -sulfonic acid-N-ethyl-phenylamide acylated with a p-tertiary-butylbenzoic acid halide. It can be done according to the usual methods used for compounds that are difficult to diazotize,
for example with the help of nitrosylsulfuric acid, diazotize. It is appropriate to use the resulting diazo compound z. B. by diluting the diazotization mixture with. Separate and filter water.
The coupling can be carried out by methods known per se in, for example, weakly Congo acidic to acetic acid medium.
In the example, the parts mean parts by weight; the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
Example: A suspension of 37.7 parts of very finely divided 2,5-diaminobenzene-1-sulfonic acid-N-ethyl-phenylamide in 180 parts of water is added at room temperature within 2 to 5 hours with 19, 65 parts of p-tert-butylbenzoyl chloride (boiling point at 4 mm pressure: 107 to 109) were added dropwise. By simultaneously adding an aqueous solution of sodium acetate, the resulting mineral acid is neutralized.
To end the acylation, the mixture is briefly heated to about 70 and then the water-insoluble 2-amino-5- (4'-tert-butylbenzoylamino) -benzene-1-suÜon- acid-N-ethyl-phenylamide is filtered off and dried .
43.7 parts of the 2-amino-5- (4'-tert-butylbenzoyamino) -benzene-1-sulfonic acid-N-ethyl-phenylamide are introduced into a solution of nitrosylsulfuric acid in sulfuric acid corresponding to 7 parts of sodium nitrite.
When the diazotization is complete, it is poured onto ice and the yellowish diazo compound which has precipitated is filtered off with suction. 23.9 parts of 2-amino-8-oxynaphthalene-6-sulfonic acid are made into a paste with 13.5 parts of 30% strength sodium hydroxide solution and 20 parts of water, and the sodium salt thus obtained is converted back into a paste with an excess of acetic acid released. The diazo compound is rubbed in with this paste.
After some time. it is diluted with 200 parts of water and, at a moderately elevated temperature, the free sulfuric acid is gradually blunted with sodium acetate. When the Kupphing is finished, it is neutralized with sodium carbonate; the dye is filtered off and dried.
