Fig. 3 zeigt drei typisehe Aufzeiehnungen, U,.

5 shows a schematic representation of a further embodiment of the device which is particularly suitable for measuring workpieces with an axis of rotation,
6 shows the side view of a further embodiment of a measuring sensor.
According to FIGS. 1 and 9, the measuring device has a support 11 fastened on a base plate 10, which supports a rotatable base 12 for a vice 13 or the like for fastening a workpiece 14, such as a turbine blade. For easier clamping and removal of the workpiece 14, the vice 13 is provided with an adjustable clamping device having the clamping tube 15.
Close to the vice 13, the base plate 10 also carries a very precisely ground, hardened measuring pin 16, which has a known diameter and, as will be described later, is used to disengage the various sensors of the measuring device.
The base plate 10 also carries a support 17 which has a block 18 provided with parallel rails 19 on which a slide 20 is mounted so as to be displaceable in the direction of the arrows py and P'y. The slide 20 has a block 21 which is provided with rails 22, on which a station slide 23 slides, which moves perpendicular to the slide 20, that is to say in the direction of the arrows Px and P'x.
The station slide carriage 23 has an arm 24 which at its end carries a slide 25 in which the sensor carrier 26 is slidably arranged. The sensor carrier 26 can be fastened in any desired position in the slide 25 by means of a clamping screw 27.
Two sensors 28 and 29 are secured on opposite sides at the lower end of the sensor carrier 26 in an insulated manner. The sensors 28, 29 are preferably resilient, although rigid sensors can also be used. The feelers can be brought into engagement with either side of the workpiece 14 during the measuring process. The tips of the sensors preferably terminate in a spherical cap which, for example, has a radius of 0.025 mm. Two safety sensors 30 and 31 are fastened between the sensors 28 and 29 on the sensor support 26; their tips are normally located a small distance directly behind the feelers 28 and 29.
The safety sensors 30 and 31 serve to prevent a further advance of the arm 24 if one of the sensors 28 or 29 is bent too far back after touching the workpiece 14.
The station slide 23 is moved on the rails 22 by means of the motor 32, which in turn is carried by the station slide 23. The slide 23 engages in a guide screw 33 mounted in the block 21 1; The guide tube 33 is driven by the motor 32 in an expedient manner via a gear box 35.
The motor 32 also drives the station drum 36, which has a number of markings 37 which are assigned to the measuring stations. The markings 37 can for example consist of small holes drilled into the drum 36. They are by a well-known photoelectric from button 38, which is attached to the arm 39 attached to the slide 20 so that it can be moved along the drum 36. scanned. The drum 36 is provided with an adjusting knob 125 by means of which it can be rotated into various desired positions.
The slide slide 20 is displaced by the guide tube 40 moved by the motor 42 via the gear box 41. The motor 42 also drives a recording current 43, on which a recording strip 43 'made of suitable recording paper, for example Teledelto paper, can be attached in order to record the measurement results. A marking needle (or pen) 44, for example, which is fastened to a slide 45 which is mounted in the frame 47 and engages with a guide tube 46, is used for drawing.
The guide tube 46 is moved by an electrically operated ratchet device or the like, known per se, in order to thereby move the needle 44 sideways every time the measuring station is changed. The recording drum 43 can also be provided with an adjustment knob 126 or the like, with which it can be rotated into various desired positions.
Preferably, the station drum 36 is provided with markings 49 at one end which allow the stationary pointer 50 to read the positions of the stations directly. In a similar way, the recording drum 43 is provided with Eiehmarkermgen 51 which allow direct readings of the deviations of the outline of the workpiece 14 with the pointer 52. The rotatable base 12 for the visual dust 13 is also provided with calibration markings 53 and a pointer 54 attached to the base plate 11, with which the angular position of the workpiece LA can be determined.
Furthermore, a device 55 is provided by means of which the base 1'2 can be rotated.
The clelctrisch. e tax system.
For the automatic operation of the device before an electrical control system is provided (Fig. 1), which should be explained by describing a typical work sequence during the automatic measurement of a workpiece by the measuring device.
In the following it is assumed that the filling device is in the position shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 and that the sensor selection switch 109 is in the position for measuring the surface of the workpiece 14 opposite the apparatus.
The operation of the measuring device is initiated by the start button (Fig. 1). This creates a circuit from main line terminal 57 through conductors 59, 60 and 61, relay SP, conductors 62, 63 and 64, closed start button 56, normally closed contacts PI-2 of relay PI, conductors 65 and 66 and the normally closed contacts DS-2 of the relay DS to the other main line terminal 67 closed. The relay SP is then energized and the contacts SP-1 and SP-2 are closed.
Closing contacts SP-1 shorts the start button 56 and thus the relay SP remains energized even if the start button is released. Closing the contacts SP-2 creates a circuit from the main line terminal 57 through the conductor 59, the relay SPC, the closed relay contacts SP-2, the normally closed contacts PO4 of the relay PO, the conductors 65 and 66 and the normal closed relay contacts DS-2 close to the other main line terminal 67.
This energizes the relay SPC and closes the contacts SPC-1 and SPC-2.
By closing the contacts SPC-1 a part of the circuit is closed from the main line terminal 57 through the conductors 59 and 68, the closed relay contacts SPC-1 and the conductor 69 to the terminal 70 of the station motor 32. In a similar way, when relay contacts SPC-2 are closed, a circuit part is generated from main conductor terminal 67 through normally closed relay contacts DS-2., Line 66, 65 and 71, closed contacts SPC-2 and a conductor 75 after the other terminal 72 of the station motor 32 is closed.
As soon as these parts of the circuit are closed, the station motor 32 begins to rotate and drives the station carriage 23 forward, in the direction of arrow Px.
The station motor 32 also rotates the station drum 36 until the marking corresponding to the first measuring station comes into the field of view of the scanning device 38. As this occurs, an electrical signal is generated which is carried by conductor 76 to one terminal of a known amplifier 77; the circuit is closed across the grounded terminals of amplifier 77 and scanner 38. This completes an output circuit through conductor 78 and relay RS to ground. The relay RS is thus excited and the contacts e RS-1 closed.
By closing the relay contacts RS-1, the main line terminal 67 is connected to one terminal of the relay PI through the closed relay contacts DS-2, the conductor 66, the closed relay contacts RS-1 and the conductor 80, while the other terminal of the relay PI through the conductors 81, 60 and 59 with the other main line terminal 57 is connected. The relay PI is thus energized, whereby the contacts PI-1 and PI-3 are closed and the contacts PI-2 are opened.
By closing contacts PI3, conductor 80 is directly connected to conductor 66 through conductor 82, the normally closed contacts PO-2 of relay PO and conductor 65 so that relay PI remains energized even after relay RS is de-energized is.
By closing the contacts PI-1, one terminal of the relay PIC is connected to the main line terminal 67 through the closed relay contacts DS-2, the conductors 66 and 65, the closed relay contacts PI1, the conductor 83 and the sensor selection switch 109; the other terminal of the relay PZC is connected to the other main line terminal 57 by conductors 84 and 59. The relay PIC is thus energized.
By opening the relay. Iskontakte PI-2, the circuit is interrupted by the relay SP, so that the contacts SP-1 and SP-2 are now open. By opening the relay contacts SP-2, the relay SPC is de-energized and, as a result, the motor 32 is also switched off. The conditions can be such that the station slide 23 comes to rest in such a position that the measuring sensor 28 can measure the contour of the workpiece 14 at the first station from this position.
When relay PIC is energized, contacts PIC-1 and PIC-2 are closed,
By closing the contacts PIC2, a terminal 85 of the motor 42 is connected to the main line terminal 67 by the closed relay contacts Dus2, the conductors 66, 65 and 71, the closed relay contacts PIC-2 and the conductors 86 and 87. At the same time, by closing the contacts PIC-1, the second terminal 88 of the motor 42 is connected to the main line terminal 57 by the conductors 59 and 68, the closed relay contacts PIC1 and the conductor 89.
The motor 42 now begins to rotate and pushes the carriage 20 in the direction of the arrow Py, so that the Fiihl. it is brought into engagement with the workpiece 14 on the probe holder 26. The recording drum 43 is also rotated synchronously with the movement of the carriage 20.
When the sensor 28 contacts the component 14, a circuit is established through the conductor 94 to the terminal of the known understanding. rkers 95 is closed because both workpiece 14 and the other amplifier terminal are grounded. As a result, a signal is applied to the amplifier input circuit, where electrical energy is supplied to the existing output circuit, which runs via the conductor 96 and the relay BR. This energizes relay BR and closes contacts Bss-1 and BR-2.
At the same time, the amplifier 95 feeds a signal to the needle 44 through the conductor 98 and earth, as a result of which a character 99 is generated on the paper strip 43 ′ on the recording drum 43, since the strip 43 ′ is also earthed through the drum 43.
By closing the relay contacts BR-1, a terminal of the relay CO is connected to the main line terminal 67 through the closed relay contacts Dus-2, the conductors 66 and 99 and the closed relay contacts BR-1; the other terminal of relay CO is connected to the main line terminal 57 by conductors 59 and 100. This energizes the CO relay and closes the CO-1 contacts.
By closing the contacts CO1. one terminal of the electrically operated ratchet mechanism 48 is connected to the main conductive terminal 57 through conductors 59 and 100, the closed relay contacts CO-1 and conductor 101; the other terminal of the ratchet mechanism is connected to the main line terminal 67 through the relay contacts DS-2 and conductors 66 and 80.
The ratchet mechanism is thereby excited, so that the needle 44 is blown into a new position with respect to the recording strip 43 ′ carried by the recording drum 43.
By closing the relay contacts BR-2, one terminal of the relay PO is connected to the main line terminal 67 through the closed relay contacts DS-2, the conductors 66 and 99, the closed relay contacts BR-2 and the conductor 102; the other terminal of the relay PO is connected to the main line terminal 57 by conductors 59 and 60, whereby the relay PO is energized. By closing this circuit, the motor drive for a timing device, which is connected in parallel with the relay PO, is simultaneously excited.
When relay PO is energized, contacts PO-1 and PO-3 are closed, while contacts PO-2 and PO-4 are open. By closing the contacts PO-1, one side of the relay PO is connected directly to the conductor 66 through the closed contacts 7'-1 of the timing device T and a conductor 105.
By opening the contacts PO-2? If the circuit is interrupted by the relay P7, so that the relay PICt is de-excited by the opening of the contacts PI-1.
By closing the contacts PO-3, a terminal of the relay POU is connected to the main line terminal 67 through the closed relay contacts DS-2, the conductors 66, 65, 59, the closed contacts PO-3, the sensor selection switch 109 and a conductor 103 connected ; the other terminal of relay POC is connected to trunk line terminal 57 by conductors 59 and 84. This energizes relay POC and closes contacts POC-1 and POC-2.
When the relay contacts POC-1 and PRO are closed, the motor terminals 85 and 90 are connected to the main line terminals 57 and 67, so that the motor 42 rotates in the other direction and thereby the sensor 28 of the workpiece 14 in the direction of the Arrow P'y and at the same time the recording drum rotates in the opposite direction.
When a predetermined time has passed, the timing device is actuated, opening contacts T-1 and closing contacts T-2.
By opening the contacts T-1 the relay PO is de-energized, so that the contacts PO-1 and PO-3 are opened and the contacts PO-2 and PO- are closed.
By opening the relay contacts PO-3, the relay POC is now de-excited, so that the contacts POC-1 and POC-2 open. As a result, the motor 42 is de-excited, so that the carriage 20 and the marking drum 43 come to a standstill.
By closing the contacts T-2, a terminal of the relay SP is connected to the main line terminal 67 through the closed relay contacts DS-2, the conductor 105, the closed contacts T-2 and the conductor 63; the other terminal of the relay SP is connected to the main line terminal 57 by conductors 59, 60 and 61.
When the relay SP is energized. repeat the described working process until the measurements at all stations according to the markings 37 on the station drum 36 are finished.
The security sensors 30 and 31 (FIG. 2) are used to damage the sensors 28 and 29. prevent them from being bent back too far after the work piece 14 has been engaged. For this purpose, the sensors 30 and 31 are connected by the conductor 106 to a terminal of a known DC amplifier 107. The output circuit of the amplifier 107 is used to excite the safety relay DS when one of the sensors 30 or 31 touches one of the sensors 28 or 29. When the safety relay DS is energized, contacts DS-2 are opened and contacts DS-1 are closed.
With the opening of the contacts DS-? all relays of the control system are immediately disconnected from the main line terminal 67, so that the system is disabled. At the same time, the closing of contacts D, -1 connects a signal lamp 110 to the main terminals 57 and 67, which indicates that the control system has become ineffective.
Adjustment and calibration of the Mē device.
The illustrated embodiment of the measuring device according to the invention is calibrated by precisely establishing the positions of the recording drum 43 which this drum assumes when the sensors 28 and 29 touch the measuring pin 16 in their measuring movement directions. As already mentioned, it has very accurate hardened measuring pin 16 of known diameter.
For practical reasons, the diameter of the pin 16 is chosen so that when the sensor 28 is adjusted to one point of the M ^ pin 16, the drum 43 is in a certain rotational position and that the drum is in a certain rotational position until the sensor 29 is adjusted to the The position of the measuring pin opposite the mentioned point must execute a whole number of revolutions in order to return to at least approximately the same rotational position when the sensor 29 is in contact with this opposite position of the measuring pin as when the sensor 28 is in contact with the other first-mentioned position of the mē pen.
The device can be calibrated by first moving the sensor 29 towards the measuring pin 16 until it touches it, which automatically creates a mark 1 as the basis for measuring the further markings 99 (FIG. 3) on the one of the Recording strip 43 'carried by the recording drum 43 is produced. It is also possible to read the scale 51 when the mark A is produced and use this number as a base value for measuring the marks 99.
Then the feeler 28 is also moved in the measuring direction towards the measuring pen 16, and a mark B (FIG. 3) is produced on the recording strip 43 ′ when the feeler 28 touches the measuring pen 16. You can also read the calibration scale 51 when the mark B is generated.
The mark B produced in this way by the sensor 28 can serve as a reference point for measurements by means of this sensor 28, while the mark t serves as a reference point for measurements by means of the sensor 29.
Similarly, when the marks B and II are made, the readings of the calibration scale 51 can serve as reference data for the sensors 28 and 29. Since the drum has at least approximately the same rotational position when the feelers 28 and 29 are set on the measuring pin 16, this one-time calibration is sufficient for the alignment of the baselines to be drawn through the marks A and B and takes into account any play of the guide screw 40.
Sometimes, for example when turbine blades are to be measured, it is desirable to also determine the position of the leading edge of the blade by means of a mark on the drum so that the measurements of the other stations can be related to this mark. This can be accomplished by means of the middle finger 108 which is electrically connected to the conductor 106 (FIGS. 1 and 2).
By operating the motors 42 and 32 manually by means of the holders 123 and 122 or by operating the buttons 125 and 136, the center probe 108 can be brought into contact with the leading edge of the workpiece 14 in various positions. Every time the sensor 108 touches the workpiece, the signal lamp 110 lights up.
The distance between the middle sensor 108 and one of the sensors 28 or 29 can be determined by touching the measuring pin 16 close to one another with each sensor and reading the scale 49 in the eye of the contact. The difference in the readings on the scale 49 for the two sensors then indicates the distance between the sensors.
Manual control.
The measuring device described above and shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 can also be operated by hand, if desired.
For the purpose of manual operation, a workpiece, such as a turbine blade 14, is clamped in the vice 13 by means of the clamping means 15. The button 126 on the recording drum 43 is then adjusted so that the feeler 28 is brought into a position in which it is free from the workpiece 14, after which the button 125 on the control drum 36 is adjusted to set the feeler 28 in the desired position Bring measuring station. The scale 49 is then read. Now the button 125 is adjusted again in order to bring the sensor 28 into contact with the workpiece 14.
As the contact occurs, the needle 44 4 creates a mark on the recording strip 43 '.
The needle 44 is then moved by hand to the next part of the recording strip 43 ', and the button 125 on the drum 36 is adjusted to bring the sensor 28 to the next measuring station, whereupon the button 126 again, as described above , is operated. This sequence of actuations is repeated until measurements have been made at all desired stations. The position of each of the various measuring stations can be determined by reading the calibration marks 49 on the drum 46. A lamp which has a similar function to lamp 110 can optionally be provided in addition to the relay BR in order to indicate that the sensor is touching the workpiece.
When the lamp lights up, the movement of the sensor is stopped and the scale 51 is read.
When one side of the workpiece has been measured as described, both knobs 125 and 126 are set in order to bring the sensing devices to the side of the workpiece facing the measuring device. With the feeler 29 in this position, the contour of the opposite side of the workpiece 14 can be measured at a number of different stations as described above.
Self-employed work.
If desired, the measuring device according to the invention can also be used for semi-automatic operation by opening the conductor 63 between the conductor 6'2 and the contact T-2 and arranging a start button (not shown) between the conductors 66 and 80, so that when this is closed, the relay PI is energized instead of the relay SP. In this case the control drum 36 can also be adjusted manually by means of the button 125 in order to bring it to the desired station, as described.
However, when the sensing device has arrived at the desired station, the start button 56 is actuated so that the motor 43 moves the sensor towards the workpiece 14 and brings it into contact with it, whereby the needle 44 makes a mark on the recording strip 43 ' manufactures. The motor automatically reverses its direction of rotation and moves the sensor 28 away from the workpiece 14 until the time measuring device T opens the circuit through the motor 42 and the sensor 28 comes to rest.
The operations at the other stations can be carried out in the same way; the measuring stations are determined by reading the scale 49 on the drum 316.
If permanent recording of the measuring stations is desired, a two-dimensional recording strip, such as a strip of teledelto paper, is attached to the drum 36 and a second recording needle 127 is attached so that it contacts the teledelto paper. The needle 127 can be electrically connected to the needle 44 by a conductor 128 so that a mark is made on the recording strip on the drum 36 at the same time as a mark is being made on the recording strip 43 '. In this way, the stations at which the measurements are taken can be accurately recorded on the strip on the drum 36.
Automatic mode of action.
The illustrated measuring device according to the invention can also work in automatic operations. The motors 42 and 32 are first operated manually by the Sehalter 123 and 122 in order to set the sensor to be used first, for example the sensor 29, with respect to the first measuring station so that it is in front of the first station and from that Workpiece 14 is free.
The station control drum 36 is then located in front of the first identifier 37.
The start button 56 (FIG. 1) is now actuated, whereupon the motor 32 moves the carriage 23 and the first used measuring sensor in the direction Px or P'x to the first station until the first identifier 37 on the control drum 36 in front of the scanning device - nism 38 comes around. As a result, the motor 32 and the sensor 29 are stopped at the first predetermined station, and the motor 42 starts automatically to drive the slide carriage 20 in the measuring direction until the sensor 29 contacts the workpiece 14. At this moment, a mark is made on the recording paper mounted on the drum 43.
The ratchet mechanism 48 then moves the needle 44 forward by one step, whereupon the motor 42 reverses its direction of rotation for a predetermined time, given by the timer T, until the probe 29 is free from the workpiece 14.
After a predetermined time has elapsed, the motor 42 stops, while the motor 32 automatically starts up again and advances the slide 23 so that the measuring sensor 29 is brought to the next station where another measurement is made. This process is repeated until the entire outline is measured on one side.
The sensing device is brought mm to the other side of the workpiece 14 by manual control of the motors 42 and 32 until it is again in the first station.
The sensor selection switch 109 is now brought into the position corresponding to the opposite measuring direction and the method described above is repeated for the other side of the workpiece 14.
Measurements are preferably made at different heights by loosening the clamping screw 27 and adjusting the sensor holder 26 vertically into the different holes. The recording nuances for both sides of the workpiece 14 in each level can be carried out next to one another by adjusting the needle device when the sensor holder is set to a new level so that the new diagram is recorded for both sides of the workpiece next to the previous diagram, as shown in FIG.
For the recording, the needle apparatus can be set up in such a way that the recording on the second page corresponding to the first station coincides with the first station on the first page.
Fig. 3 shows three typical records, U ,. M and L, corresponding to an upper, middle and lower high on the work piece.
The lower marks 99 correspond to the recordings of the side of the workpiece 14 facing the apparatus, while the marks 111 correspond to the recordings of the side facing away from the apparatus.
The position of the recording strip where the feeler 29 contacts the measuring pen is denoted by A in FIG. Similarly, the mark B indicates the position of the strip where the feeler 28 contacts the opposite side of the measuring pin 16. As a result, a line running parallel to the lower edge of the strip through mark A represents the baseline for the distances corresponding to marks 99, while a similar line through mark B forms the base line for marks 111.
If so desired, the device according to the invention can also be used to determine the deviations of the contour of a workpiece 14 from the nominal dimensions.
For this purpose, a recording strip can first be provided with marks 114 and 115, which precisely represent the desired or desired outlines of the opposite sides of the workpiece. en. Such a recording strip can be obtained by attaching it to the drum 43, which is then successively brought into the positions corresponding to the target dimensions, whereupon the respective setting of the needle 44 is read exactly on the scale 51, whereupon electrical energy of the needle 44 in order to produce a mark on the recording strip at this point.
For this purpose, the needle 44 can be provided with an auxiliary excitation circuit, which can be closed for this purpose, for example by a push button. The recording strip can also be produced in such a way that the machine can run automatically with a standard workpiece that has the correct, i.e. the desired shape, instead of the workpiece to be measured.
As described above, the apparatus is brought to the initial position, whereupon the actual distances (actual values) represented by marks 99 and 111 in FIG. 3 are plotted on the previously prepared recording strip. Marks 99 and 111 then represent the actual outlines of the opposite sides of work piece 14, while the perpendicular distances between these marks and corresponding marks 114 and 115 indicate the deviations of the two.
Since there is only one circumferential line for each station on the strip 43 ', it is not necessary to provide markings 104 on the strip 43'. The lines correspond to the successive stations as they are marked on the control drum 36.
For example, if measurements are to be taken every 0.1275 mm in the station direction, and if the ratchet mechanism advances the needle by 1. 275 mm after each reading, then the magnification in the station direction is 10 to 1.
Exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 5.
The embodiment according to FIG. 5 enables precise measurements of a rotating device, such as a cam disk, to be carried out. The motor 32 sets a cam 116 to be measured in various angular positions. The various angular positions or stations are controlled by the control drum 316 and by the scanner 38 by means of the gear box 112 and Schneeken gear 117. In any angular position, a sensor 118 can be brought into contact with the cam 116 in order to produce a mark on the recording strip 43 'at the moment of contact.
The control system shown in FIG. 1 and described above can be used to automatically bring the motors 32 and 42 into the correct positions.
With this apparatus, the same recording is obtained as with the apparatus according to FIG. 3, with the difference that each station corresponds to an angular position instead of a linear station position. The radial distances from the disk axis of the circumferential points of the cam disk 116 scanned in the stations can then be easily read off from the resulting diagram on the recording strip.
When the feeler shape according to FIG. 6 is used with the apparatus of FIG. 5, the apparatus of FIG. 5 can be used to control the movement of a moving part, such as a stop piece which is connected in a known manner to the cam disk Explosion engine is used to record. The sensor according to FIG. 6 has a cylindrical rod 119 of precise dimensions, which is resiliently fastened in an adjustable support 120 on the slide 20. Adjusting screws 121 are provided to make it easier to adjust the rod 119 so that the direction of the longitudinal axis of the rod corresponds to the flat surface of the stop piece.
When this setting has been made, the measurements can essentially be made in the manner described. The recording that is obtained with this embodiment corresponds to the movement of the stop piece during the rotation of the guide disk.
Although the feelers 28 and 29 point outwards in FIGS. 1 and 2, it is sometimes advantageous, for example when the tooth of a gearwheel is to be measured, if the feelers are directed towards one another. If the tooth of a gearwheel is measured by means of sensors pointing inwards, the sensors are expediently arranged so that their distance is greater than the thickness of the tooth.
In addition, the sensor 28 is electrically connected in such a way that it excites the needle 44, while the sensor 29 is electrically connected to a second needle which is attached above or below the first needle and which also acts on the recording strip 43 '.
In operation, the feeler device is moved either manually or automatically as described above to bring the feeler 28 into contact with one side of a tooth of a gear at which point the needle 44 makes a mark on the strip 43 '. The movement of the feeler device is then reversed until the feeler 29 contacts the opposite side of the tooth, whereupon the second needle creates a mark on the strip 43 '. The distance between the two marks indicates the thickness of the tooth at this point.
For the most part, a tooth is first measured which corresponds to the nominal dimensions, and the distance on the strip 43 'between the two marks produced by the two sensors is measured precisely. The tooth to be measured is then measured in the same way so that a second pair of different marks is created on the strip 43 '. If the distance between the latter two marks is the same as the distance between the first two marks, then the tooth to be measured has the same thickness as the standard tooth.
However, if the distance between the second pair of marks is larger or smaller than the distance between the first pairs of marks, then the tooth to be measured is thicker or thinner than the standard tooth.
So that one does not have to search for the second point on the drum, the second needle can be arranged on the circumference of the drum 43 so that it can be adjusted with respect to the needle 44. If the tooth to be measured has the same thickness at the measuring point as the standard tooth at the corresponding point, then the distance between the marks on the recording strip is the same as the distance between the marks, which was previously determined when the standard tooth was measured. The deviation in the die of the tooth to be measured is determined on the basis of the difference between the valid Al marks and the marks of the standard tooth.
The adjustment can also be made by moving the feelers with respect to one another, although it is more advantageous to adjust the needles, because in this case a much coarser adjustment is sufficient with regard to the enlargement of the dimensions by the recording device.
To make it easier to find the recordings on the strip, a guide needle can be attached to the needle. 44 (FIG. 1) can be attached so that it follows the needle 44 in the direction of rotation. The auxiliary needle can be connected by the conductor 97 to the positive terminal of the high voltage source of the amplifier 95. The needle 58 creates a continuous line 104 (Fig. 3) on the strip 43 'as the drum 43 rotates. Since the drum 43 reverses its direction of rotation after the mark 99 has been produced, the line 104 does not extend all the way to the mark 99 and thus indicates successive marks 99.
