Appareil photographique.

Le miroir du dispositif explorateur 120 et le film 105 sont entraînés en synelironisme, comme indiqué plus loin; de telle manière que, lorsque le miroir tourne pour explorer :le document fixe, une image continue du doeu- nient soit formée sur le film;
On ouvre l'interrupteur 217 (fig.
Camera. The present invention relates to a photographic apparatus comprising a photographic chamber provided with an objective, a support capable of supporting a document in the field of said objective and means for moving a film in the focal plane of the objective.
In known continuous photo graphic reproduction apparatuses, the document and a film are drawn relative to each other, so as to form a continuous image on the film. The apparatus has a slit or a cover, the document which moves in front of the slit is photographed on a film driven at a speed corresponding to the speed of feeding of the document.
Although these devices can be used for outline documents such as checks, paperwork, drawings, etc., they cannot be satisfactorily used for books, since they cannot be trained by a single-drum conveyor belt, etc., and turn the pages to be photographed while the book is being fed.
Until now, books and documents gathered in binders or similar binders have been photographed page by page by stationary cameras which photograph at each exhibition. one or both pages facing each other in the <B> the </B> open book, the film being moved between two consecutive exhibitions. The field of these cameras is necessarily limited because the field of the lens is always a circle; the sharpness of the corners of: the image of square or rectangular objects is therefore not satisfactory. Of course, expensive lenses are employed in fixed cameras of this type to attempt to remedy this defect. However, the sharpness.
at the corners of the image is not perfect, even with the most expensive and best corrected lenses.
On the contrary, continuous cameras have exposure slits which correspond to a strip centered on the objective, so that the sharpness is good for the whole surface of this slit, even if one employs the objectives. cheaper. Thus having a defined slit that provides a surface of good sharpness for the lens, it is possible to make clear photographic copies by moving the object in front of the slit.
As the books are heavy and inconvenient to handle, we keep the book fixed and we train. the latter a moving image on the film continuously entrained in the camera, which realizes an apparatus for continuous photographic reproduction of a fixed object.
The apparatus according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises mobile exploration means making it possible to transmit successive images between different parts of the document and said lens, all in such a way that, with the document being stationary, said moving means and film can be moved at speeds in a determined ratio, to reproduce on a piiotosen Bible wire a complete image of the document.
In one embodiment described below in detail, the apparatus comprises a control device for the explorer member which allows the operator to choose the limits of the image formed on the moving film. In other words, if it is assumed that it is to make a photographic copy of a book, the operator can adjust the control device so that the two or green pages of the book can be photographed on. their entire surface, or it can adjust the control device so as to. limit the photograph to any desired part of any of the open pages of the book.
In other words again, the operator can choose the whole of the field to be explored or any desired part of this field.
According to one embodiment, the device is intended to be able to serve as an enlarger. To this end, it comprises a projector for emitting a light ray intended to project from said lens successive images of parts of the film intended to be enlarged to form a complete image of said wire on said photosensitive sheet.

The apparatus shown in FIG. 1 comprises a chest 10 resembling a steel filing cabinet about 1.30 in high and about 0.70 m wide, which makes it possible to combine this chest with ordinary filing cabinets.
The chest 10 is constructed in any suitable way to form a frame with a posterior pa king 17., a front wall 12 and a number of drawers or compartments 13 and 14 (fig. 2).
The compartments 15 and 16 are arranged above the drawers to contain a drawer 17 with side walls 18 and 19 and a rear wall 20, inside which are arranged certain members which are described below. The compartments 7.5 and 16 have a door 21 which forms the front wall of the drawer 17 which can slide to enter the cabinet and exit at 22 to uncover the appliance contained in the drawer 17 and give access thereto.
The apparatus further comprises, in particular, a take-up reel 25, a roller 24, a drum 26, a roller 28 and guide rollers 27 and 29.
A photosensitive product, such as a photographic film 30, unwinds from the reel 23 and passes over the roller 28, the drum 26 and the roller 24 to wind up on the reel 25. The drive is provided by a syn motor. chrone 31 coupled by an appropriate clutch 32 to the shaft 33 of the drive roller 24. The motor or the clutch may comprise an appropriate reduction of known type, such as a gear train or the like. A belt drive can be used, if desired. An objective 34 is disposed in front of the drum 26, and a member defining a slit 35 is mounted between the objective and the drum. Film 30 is in the sharp image plane of the lens.
If desired, a second slit delimiting member 36 can be mounted in front of the lens to limit the section of the light beam which passes through the lens.
A shutter mechanism, such as that shown in FIG. 6, comprises an electromagnet 37 mounted in a housing 37a. A shutter 38 is articulated at 38a and is biased by a spring 38U, so as to normally cover the slit 36 and uncover it when the film 30 is driven and the electromagnet is energized, as well as it is indicated below.
A housing 39 is attached to a lumen sealed tube 40 and includes an extension 47 which can move on the housing 39 by a rack and pinion gear 42; the pinion 42 may be driven by a shaft passing through the door 21, or in any other suitable manner. Mirrors 43, 44 are fixed in housing 39 and mirrors 45, 46 are. fixed on the movable extension 41, which allows, by a rotation of the pinion 42, to vary the length of the optical path between the document and the objective.
The side wall 19 of the drawer 17 has an opening 48 forming part of the tube 40 sealed against the. light, which is extended by a tube 49, one end of which is supported by a partition 50 of the housing, the other end being supported by the housing 51 c111 mirror device.
The device for transmitting partial images of a fixed object such as 83 to the lens 34 can be constructed in various ways, since the movable optical beam deflector can receive an oscillating movement so as to effect a back and forth movement over the document, or may be rotated. All. an appropriate optical device may be used instead of the mirror, this device forming part of the path of light between the support, with the document which it carries, and the objective.
The housing 51 of the explorer device (fig. 3, -1 and 5), which comprises a front plate 52, is fixed by screws or the like on the front wall 12 of the case 10. The rear end 53 of the housing 51 is supported in any suitable manner, for example, by a support 54 mounted on the rear wall 11 of the -eoffre. The housing 51 contains a synchronous motor 55 supported in any suitable manner and comprising, if it is necessary to reduce the speed, a reduction gear 56 which couples to the motor a support or tubular member <B> 57 </B> that it must. rotate.
The tubular member 57 carries a suitable device 58, such as a mirror, for reflecting the beam of light coming from it. of the document 83 and having passed through the opening 57a towards the light-tight tube -19 through the opening 57b and towards the objective 34 of the photographic copying apparatus.
The anterior end of the tubular support 57 is carried by a bearing 59 fixed to the wall of the housing 51 or formed by this wall, and a tubular shaft 67 is fixed to the tubular support 57 at 62 in any suitable manner and passes through it. the partition 60 to protrude into the niche 63 in front of the partition 60. A disc 6-1, mounted on the outer end of the shaft 61, is fixed on this shaft and rotates with it.
The fingers 65, 66 for adjusting the timing are mounted loose on the shaft 61. The outer end of the shaft <B> 61- </B> is.
threaded to receive a button 67 which, when it is screwed onto the shaft 61, clamps the fingers 65 and 66 in any chosen position relative to the disc 64 and to the mirror 58.
A removable partition 68 is disposed between the partition 60 and the portion 69 of the anterior plate 52 and forms the. lower wall of housing 63a in which are mounted the switches 70, 71 for controlling the photographic copying apparatus, the control switches 90, 97. and 95 and the indicator lights 102, 10: 3. The conductors belonging to the device, mounted in the housing 51 or on this housing, pass through orifices 72 of the wall 60 and run along the inner face of the upper wall 73 of the housing 51, to exit through the hole 74 with the conductors coming from the engine 55.
The switch 70 of the camera comprises a plunger 75 directed downwards and able to come into contact with a cam 76 of the synchronization finger 65, and the switch 71 comprises a plunger 77 directed downwards and able come into contact with a cam 78 of the synchronization finger 66.
The safe 10 has, in its anterior wall 12, a rectangular window 79 for placing the document in the field of the copy apparatus. The side walls 80 and 81 extend inside the box from the window 79 to the rear wall 11 of the box. The document holder 82 extends inside the safe from the lower edge of the window '19 to the rear wall 11 of the safe, and it can be connected to the side walls 80 and 81.
In the fi-. 2, the document holder 82 is horizontal while, in the variant of FIG. 17., the document holder is curved. The document, a book 83 for example, is introduced through the window 79 into the field of the copy apparatus and. As the copy is being made, the operator can conveniently turn the pages using window 79.
Because the explorer device forms on the film the image of consecutive contiguous bands of the stationary object, a central band of the giving objective is used, as already indicated. image sharpness and, as these are images of a slit, the depth of field is sufficient to copy books of normal thickness, without the need change the focus. When a greater depth of field is required, a desk of the type used in stationary cameras can be used to support the book, so that the pages to be photographed are brought to exactly the correct position.
The document holder 82 is in the field scanned by the mirror 58 and is mounted at a suitable height above the ground (approximately 80 cm) for the convenience of the operator. The front wall 12 of the safe has a recess 84 for the legs of the operator who sits in front of the safe to operate the copying apparatus.
Suitable lamps 85, 86 are fixed above the housing 79 of the document or inside the walls 80, 81, or on these walls by any suitable type of supports or mounts such as supports 87, 88, so that the lamps can be brought closer or further from the document 83, to illuminate the latter uniformly over the entire surface to be photographed. The complete apparatus, assembled in the manner described above, is connected by circuits shown schematically in FIG. 7, to relays 89 and 70a and switches 90 and 91, the switch 91 being able to be locked in the closed position of the circuits. These circuits are supplied by a normal source of suitable electric current.
The width of the scanning beam can be approximately 25 mm and the position of the mirror is adjusted for each operation, so that this beam is located a little to the left of the document placed on the support 82. This result is obtained by virtue of to a notch 93 of the disc 64 and a pawl 94 having an eccentric lever so as to be able to be moved away from the disc 64 as soon as this disc begins to turn. This pawl, which can be of any construction, is mounted on the partition 60 and it is engaged in the notch 93, so that at the start the mirror is always in the same position and the assembly is immobilized during the adjustment of the synchronization fingers.
Assuming that the document holder carries a document approximately 75 cm wide and that one wishes to explore only half of this document, for example the left page of book 83, from 0 to 15 on the graduation 64a (fig. 8), the pawl 94 is inserted into the notch 93 and the synchronization finger 65 is set to 0 of the synchronization graduation 64a near the periphery of the disc 64. The synchronization finger 66 is set to 0. 15 of the same graduation, and the button 67 is screwed onto the shaft 61 to immobilize the fingers 65 and 66 in these positions.
A film having been loaded into the copying apparatus, when the main switch, 95, is turned off, current flows through the conductors 96, 9 7, lighting the lamps 85, 86 and starting the motors 31, 55. The small green light 102 also lights up, indicating to the operator that he can close switch 90 if he wishes. This indicator only lights up when relay 89 is not energized, as shown in the diagram in fig. 7.
The pawl 94 is maneuvered away from the notch 93, and the motor 55 rotates the mirror 58 in the direction opposite to that of the clockwise movement in order to use the scanning beam 92 to use it. document placed on the support 82. However, since the shutter 38 of the camera is closed and the device for driving the film in the camera is stopped, the clutch 32 is not engaged , no photography is made.
1 To photograph, the operator closes the push button switch 90, which closes a circuit comprising the conductor 97, the winding of the relay 89, the switch i 90, which has just been closed, the switch 71 and the conductor 96. This has the effect that the relay 89 with bonding of the armatures closes the contacts 89a and 89b, short-circuits the breaker 90, the relay 89 sticks and the operator c can then open the switch. 90 by releasing the push-button.
When the contacts 89b close, they connect the conductor 97, by a wire 104, with the open contacts of the switch 70, which puts this switch in the position desired for operation, the indicator 102 which, before the operation which has just been described, received current from the conductor 97 through the contacts 89b and the wire 102a, goes out because the contact is broken between the arm of the switch 89b and the wire 102a when the switch arm comes into contact with wire 104.
2 During the operations mentioned in paragraph 1, the cam 76 of the finger 65 has moved in the opposite direction to that of clockwise movement, and just at the moment when the leading edge of the operating beam 92 reaches the point o or left edge of the support 82 of the document, the cam 76 momentarily against the plunger 75 of the switch 70 and closes this switch.
3 When the switch 70 is closed, a circuit is established by the conductor 70b, the rolling relay 70a, the conductor 98, the closed contacts of the switch 71 and the conductor 96. The relay 70a. is therefore excited and closes its contacts. Contacts 99 of relay 70a simply short circuit switch 70. The contacts 100 switch on, via the conductor 101, the clutch 32 of the film driving motor, the electromagnet 37 of the shutter of the camera and the indicator light 103, which causes the film to operate. drive motor, as well as the camera shutter.
The shutter mechanism is quick-acting and the <B> 38e </B> frame attached to shutter 38 moves from the position shown in broken lines in fig. 6 at the, position indicated in solid line. The slot 36 is thus discovered, which allows. to the reflected image of document 83 to print the film.
When the clutch 32 of the camera is energized, the film 30 is driven past the lens 34 at a fixed given speed relative to the movement of the mirror 58 and, therefore, to the light beam 92 which scans the document 83. The result is that an image composed of all the parts of the document which have been explored continuously impresses the film to give a complete image similar to that which is obtained. in continuous photographic copying devices in which, however, document and film are. both in motion.
4 When the beam 92 has explored the distance 0-15 for which the device has been set, the cam 78 of the finger 66 has reached, due to its rotation, the position in which it lifts the plunger 77 of the switch 71. This has the effect of opening the contacts of switch 77. and of opening the circuit for energizing relay 70a which releases its contacts and opens the circuit of relay 89 which releases its contacts and returns them. circuits to the normal standby position. The clutch 32 of the graphics camera is no longer energized and the film 30 is no longer driven. The shutter 38 closes, no longer being attracted by the electromagnet 37.
If the switch 90 is closed again, the cycle which has just been described begins again.
During the exposure, the red light 103 is on, which warns the operator that he must not operate any of the switches.
If a page turner is used, or the operator is skilled enough to turn pages by hand between the exposure phases of the operating cycle. of the apparatus, it is possible to close the switch 91; the cams 76, 78 ensuring. then the control of the operations of the. previously described, but it is no longer necessary to <B> (the </B> momentarily close switch 90 to start a new cycle of operations.
The study of the process for adjusting the position of the fingers 65, 66 carrying the cams shows that it is possible to adjust the device in such a way that it is possible to photograph any part of the document, for example the part. of approximately 25 cm between 15 and 25 on the graduation of the document holder, without losing film by copying the surface explored by the mirror 58 during its scan between 0 and 15 in front of this space or between 25 and 30 beyond this space. This is made possible by the adjusting fingers 65, 66 and by the fact that the camera is controlled so as to print the film only when the beam 92 explores a certain fraction of the surface of the document fully scanned. by the beam.
If we refer to fig. 9 and 10, and assuming that the surface to be photographed has a width of 10 cm and extends from mark 15 to mark 25 of the graduation 47 of the document holder, the starting finger 65 is brought to the number 15, so that the film is impressed from there in the way already described. As the surface to be photographed has a width of 10 cm, the finger 66 is brought in front of the number 25.
The camera will thus be stopped after having photographed the document over a width of 10 cm, since the apparatus operates only during the rotation of the mirror 58 to cause the beam 92 to explore the 10 cm wide surface represented by the angular distance X of the cams 76, 78 on the gra duation 64a of the disc 64. t1 at all other times the shutter of the camera is closed and the film is not fed into the camera, although the motor 31 of the camera, the motor 55 of the mirror and the lights 85, 86 continue to operate.
Fig. 9 represents the synchronization device as it has just been described, at the start of a period of exploration of a surface 10 cm wide corresponding to the interval 15-25 on the scale scale of the document. Fig. 10 represents the device at the end of the exploration period.
In the variant shown in FIG. 11, the arrangement is exactly the same as that shown in FIG. 2, except that the document holder 82a is curved to match the field of the lens. The document is designated 83a and all other reference numbers correspond to those in FIG. 2.
The scanning beam 92 can be diaphragm through the slit or by the opening 51a of the housing 51 and, if necessary, a sleeve 51c, placed around the housing 51, can be moved to change the width of the slit. If desired, the beam is further diaphragmatic at 48 and 36. As a narrow strip is used in the center of the lens, very good sharpness is obtained equal to that obtained in graphic photo copying devices. continuous, which makes it possible to use lenses that are less expensive than the lenses of fixed cameras, where the film and the document are stationary.
It can be seen clearly from the foregoing that the apparatus produced is a photographic apparatus in which the object or the document to be photographed is fixed and, while the film is driven, images in consecutive bands are formed on the film. film in motion, which gives this camera all the advantages of a continuous recording camera.
The mirror 58 and its driving device mounted in the housing 51 can be removed as a whole through the front of the case 1.0 for cleaning and repairs. As shown in the drawing, this assembly can be removed from the trunk by removing the screws which hold the front plate 52 to the trunk. The assembly can then be pulled and removed from the support 54 at the rear thereof and then, if necessary, made to operate by the motor 55 while it is outside the trunk.
It will be noted that the assembly carries in the continuation of one another the motor bearings and the front bearing 59 and that the mirror support is not subjected to any force, which would be the case if its front end was mounted on the front wall 12. of the trunk and its posterior end on the. pa king 11.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 1.2, the apparatus comprises, when used as a copying apparatus, a film 105 unwinding from a supply reel 106, passing over guide rollers 107, 107a., On the periphery of the transparent drum 108, on the drive roller 1.09 moved by a motor via a clutch (fig. 19), then on the guide roller 107b to finally roll on the take-up reel 110.
A goal 111 is. arranged in front of the film. Appropriate slots 112, 113 may be associated with the objective 111 for the diaphragmer.
A suitable shutter mechanism 1.11, preferably electrically driven, is mounted so as to be operable as described later, to cut off the light beam.
La.nipes 115, 116, 117 illuminate the document, for example a book 118, and the beam <B> 119 </B> reflects the document, reaches the mirror of an explorer device 1.20, then is reflected chi next the path 119a, towards the mirror 121, <B> the </B> mirror 122, the mirror 123, the mirror 124 and the objective 111, up to the film 10.5 which receives the image. The relative position of mirrors 121, 124 and 122, 123 can be adjusted to vary the length of the optical path between the objective 111 and the document holder 125.
The mirror of the explorer device 120 and the film 105 are drawn into synelironism, as indicated below; such that when the mirror rotates to scan: the still document, a continuous image of the material is formed on the film;
when the device. is used for enlargement, the document is replaced by a product. pliotosizable such as photographic paper laid flat on support 125, and film 105 carries the images to be copied onto the paper.
A light source (not shown) projects a light beam through the wall of the transparent drum 108 and through the film 105 carried on this drum. The beam emerging from the objective 111 follows a reverse path to that just described and, as the film and the mirror move, the enlarged image is projected. as we will see later, step by step is the paper.
The various components which have just been described are mounted in an appropriate support, such as a box 1'26.
In one embodiment shown at. fig. 1.3, the explorer device comprises a housing 127 serving as a support and carrying internally a base 12g supporting a synchronous motor 129 connected by conductors 130 to the circuit which will be described. The motor shaft is connected to a demulti plier device 131 including. the tree is mated to. the driving organ of a magnetic clutch 13: .1 connected by conductors 133 to the eircuit die.
A plate 127a closes the rear end (the housing 127.
An intermediate elo-ison 134 closes the front end of the housing 127 and serves. bearing for the output shaft 135 of the socket 1.32 The shaft 135 passes through the front housing 136 of the housing and is supported by a bearing 137 at the front end of this housing.
The shaft 135 carries, in the anterior housing 136 of the housing, a mirror holder 138 carrying a mirror 139 serving as a beam deflection member and exploring the surface 125 of the document holder from 0 to the left up to to 30 on the right, as indicated on the graduation 140. The length of the mirror can. be equal to the depth of the support 125, 40 cm for example. The total area explored would be 30 to 40 cm. The mirror may have a width of 12 to 25 mm or any other suitable width, and of sufficient length to receive the entire optical beam.
The lower wall of the housing 136 has a window 141, so that the mirror can explore the document placed on the support 125, for example the book 118, and one of the side walls has a window 142 for the passage of the beam 119a. from mirror 139 to objective 111. The control head of the device is shown in FIGS. 14 and 16.
A disc 143 is attached to the shaft 135, so as to rotate therewith, and it carries a pin 144 which rests on a stopper 145 fixed to a disc 146 whose edge is toothed, and which rotates freely on it. a bearing 137.
The shaft 135 passes through the bearing 137 and it carries a collar. 147 which is attached to it and which hand holds the disc against the outer end of the bearing <B> 137 </B> without tightening this disc. A toothed wheel 148 meshes with the teeth of plate 1-16 and is attached to a shaft end 149 attached to. a box 150.
A button 151 is attached to the outer end of the shaft 1.19. As the knob 151 is rotated, the toothed wheel 148 rotates the disc 146 which can be locked in any desired position by a locking nut 152. Fingers 153, 154 are freely mounted on the outer end of the shaft. 135, so as to be able to turn on this shaft, and we can give them any desired relative position in front of the disc 146 and fix them in this position by tightening a nut 155 carried by the threaded end of the shaft 135 (fig. . 14).
When the fingers 153, 154 rotate, they come to meet the control members 156, 157 of switches 158, 159 mounted immediately above the fingers (Fig. 13).
A spring. 160 is fixed by one end 161 to the bearing 137 or to any other fixed member of the device; it is wrapped around the shaft 135 and it hooks by its free end on the peg 144, or else is fixed in any other way to the mirror holder 138, in order to constantly request the mirror holder and its related parts , including shaft 135 and fingers 153, 154 clockwise so that, when clutch 132 is disengaged, motor 129 disengages from shaft 135, pin 144 s' applied against the stop 145.
The position of the stopper 145 can be adjusted on the disc 146; for this purpose, the stopper 145 is provided with a slot 162 for the passage of screws 162a (fig. 17) which hold the stopper on the disc 146.
Fig. 19 shows schematically the circuits of the apparatus described above. Assuming that one wishes to explore the first ten centimeters of the document carried by the support 125 (i.e. the left page of book 118), the disc 146 is moved to bring the arrow 163 which it carries in front of . the 0, indicated by the reference number 164 on the face 165 of the housing, by a rotation of the button 151 and the tightening of the nut 152.
The starting finger 154 is then brought a little to the right of the arrow 163, and the stop finger 153 is set to 15 of the disc 146; the button 155 is then tightened to lock the two fingers on the shaft 135, so that they rotate with it.
From the wires 166, 167, being connected to a suitable current source, and the main switch 168 being closed, a current flows through the conductor 169 to arrive at the motor 129 of the explorer device 120, at the synchronous motor 170 of the camera and lamps 115, 116, 117. These lamps come on to illuminate the document, 1.18 and the indicator light 171 also comes on; the engines turn, but the clutch 132 of the scanning device is not engaged, so that the mirror 139 remains stationary; the clutch 172 of the camera mounted between the motor 170 of this camera and the film drive roller 109 is also not engaged, so the film is. motionless.
If the push-button of the switch 173 is pressed to close the contacts momentarily, a circuit is established through the main conductor 169, the contacts, normally closed, of the stop switch; 158, the conductor 174, the contacts of the switch 1.73, the winding of the relay 175 and the main conductor 167.
The relay 175 closes its contact arms 176, 177 which remain closed when the switch 173 is released. The following operations take place a) The circuit of the indicator light 171 is cut.
b) The driver 167 is connected by the driver 167a with the clutch 132 of the explorer device and this clutch is moved to become active; the mirror 139 therefore begins to rotate, the shaft 135 turning in the opposite direction to that of the movement of the hands: clockwise (fig. 16).
c) The disc 146 bearing, the arrow 163 having been brought to 0 (164), the mirror has been brought to the desired position to receive the beam reflected by the document, starting with the left side of the document 118 a little to left of point 178 of the latter, so that,. when the starting finger 154 rotating with the shaft 135 in the direction opposite to that of the clockwise movement reaches the 0 (arrow 163) of the disc 146, the mirror 139 starts to exploit the left edge 178 of the document.
d) At this instant, the starting finger 1.54 acts on the collar 147 of the switch 159, which momentarily closes its contact, while the finger continues to rotate. A circuit. is therefore established, by the main conductor 169, the closed contacts of the switch 158, the relay 179, the contacts of the switch 159, the conductor 167a, the contact 176a of the relay 175, the arm 176 of this relay and the main driver 167.
e) The relay 179 is blocked in the closed position of the circuit when its contacts 180 close, because it is then connected in parallel with the main circuit 169, 167. The switch 159 can therefore be a switch. with passenger contact and does not need to be kept closed for. the rest of the cycle.
f) When the relay 179 closes the contacts 181, a circuit is established through the main conductor 169, the closed contacts of the stop switch 158, the contacts 181, the conductor 182, the clutch 172 of the 'camera, shutter mechanism 114, indicator light 183,. conductor 167a., contacts 176, 176a of relay 1.75 and <B>' main </B> conductor 167. Shutter 11.4 is ordered to clear the optical path leading to the film.
g) Graphics camera clutch 172 couples the film drive mechanism to camera motor 170, and film 105 is driven into the sharp image plane of the lens in synchronism. with the scanning of the: document by the mirror 139 and in the correct direction.
h) When the mirror 139 has explored the document up to point 15 of the graduation 140, the finger. stop 153, which rotated in the opposite direction of the clockwise movement (fig. 16) at a constant distance behind finger 154, reached the arrow 163 of the disc 146 and it moved the control member 156 of 1-switch 158 which then opens its contacts. The following operations then take place. Relay 179 opens all of its contacts, which disengages the coupling of the camera and stops driving film 105. LED 183 goes out.
The shutter 114 closes and prevents the light beam from reaching the film 105. s The relay 175 opens its contacts and the indicator light 171 comes on.
The clutch 132 of the explorer device 120 is disengaged and the mirror 139 stops rotating in the direction opposite to that of the clockwise movement.
When the mirror 139 rotates during the exploration, as the disc 146 and the stopper 145 carried by this disc remain stationary, the pin 144 of the mirror device leaves the stop against the tension spring <B> 160; < / B> consequently, when the clutch 132 disengages the shaft 135 from the mirror device, the spring 160 returns this assembly to its initial starting position in which the pin, 1.44 rests on the stop 145 (fig. 13, 14, 17 and 18).
Thanks to the fact that the mirror 139 is brought back to its initial starting position when it has finished the exploration instead of making it make a complete turn, to return to its starting position, the mirror can be made to exploit a any fraction of the support 125 to form the image thereof in the sharp image plane of the objective 111.
For example, suppose that one wishes to explore .from 20 to 30 on the scale. 140.
We bring the arrow 1.63 of the disc 146 before the 20th. Finger. start 154 is set to 20 of disc 146. The finger. Stop 153 is set to 30 of disc 146.
The device then operates as described previously with regard to the exploration from 0 to 15. The film will only start to be trained when the exploration beam arrives at 20, and it stops as soon as the beam has explored until 30. The mirror 139 is. brought back to its starting point at 20 on the graduation 140, the stop 145 of the disc 1.46 having been brought to its mark, and the res goes out 160 still bringing the mirror back to the chosen adjustment point.
The fi-. 18 represents a variant of the exploratory positive device which has just been described. In this variant, the start switch 159 of FIG. 19 is disposed behind the disc 146, as indicated at 159a (fig. 18), and it is held in such a way that its contacts are opened by the pressure of the pin 144. When the device operates as described above, and when the pin 144 moves away from the switch, the spring 159b returns this switch to the closed position of the circuit and the operation is the same as that which has already been described.
When the spring 160 brings the pin 144 back into contact with the stopper 145, this pin returns the switch 159a to the normal position.
When employing this arrangement, the starting finger 154 is no longer required and can be omitted because the operation and pre-setting of the position of the start switch is determined by the position of the disc 146 and the action of the ankle 144, as we have just said.
Figs. 20 and 21 show an explorer device 184 according to another variant. This device differs from the device 120 of FIG. 13 in that it includes a mechanically controlled clutch and the operation of the control mechanism is slightly different.
The motor 129 and the gear reduction device 131 are the same as those described above. The output shaft 185 of the device 131 passes right through the explorer device and is threaded at its outer end to receive a button 155.
The driving member 186 of a clutch is fixed to the shaft 185. The driven member 187 of this clutch is mounted so as to rotate with a sleeve 188 by which the driven member 187 can be axially displaced to put it in place. engaged or disengaged with the component 186 of the clutch.
The sleeve 188 is mounted crazy on Marbre 185. The assembly consisting of the mirror holder 138 and the mirror 139 is fixed to the sleeve 188 and moves with it. A caliper 189 provided with a fork 189a is articulated on the housing in 190 and carries an eccentric spring 191. When the end arm 192 of the caliper 189 is lowered, the caliper releases the driven member <B > 187 </B> of the clutch as shown, the spring <B> 191. </B> being eccentric with its top to the right, as shown in the drawing.
When the arm of the caliper is raised, the driven organ 187 is displaced axially and engages in order to be driven, the spring 191 being eccentric with its top to the left.
The figure is schematic, since any suitable type of mechanical clutch can be used.
The disc 193 plays in this type of explorer the same role as the disc 146 in the explorer of FIG. 13. The disc 193 has a curved slot 194 which passes through a lever arm 195 articulated at 196 on a fixed part of the housing. The outer end of the arm 195 carries a roller 197 which can be lowered by the cam 198 of the starting finger 154 and raised by the cam 199 of the stop finger 153.
The inner end 200 of the lever 195 meets and moves the end arm 1.92 of the clutch caliper, so as to engage or disengage the clutch 186, 187.
Adjusting the position of the control head of the fi. 21 is very similar to that which has been described for the-, fig. 14 and <B> 16. </B> Assuming you want to explore from 0 to 15 on the. graduation 140, we adjust the disc 193 and lock it (as described above for the disc 146), so that the arrow 163 is on the 0 (1G4) of the housing 165. This determines the initial position of the mirror 139 as described.
We put. then the starting finger 154 in place, so that its cam 198 is slightly to the left of the roller 197 of the clutch control. This brings the finger 154 slightly to the right of the controller 117 of the start switch 159.
We now put in place the stop finger 153, so that its cam 199 is on 15 on the housing 165. When the starting fingers. and stop. have been fitted in this way, they are locked on the shaft 185 by tightening the nut <B> 155, </B> in such a way that they rotate with this shaft.
As shown in fig. 19, the main switch 168 and the push button 173 being closed, the motor 129 is energized, as already. described, and drives the shaft 185. This shaft faic turn the fingers 153, 154 in the direction opposite to. that of the clockwise movement (fig. 21), and. the cam 198 lowers the roller 197, thus controlling the clutch 186, 187 by the levers 195 and 189 and moving the mirror 139 to explore the area taken between 0 and 15 on the 1.40 scale.
At the start of the exploration, the finger 154 controlled the switch 159 in the manner already described to activate the camera.
t1 the end of the exploration, the blade 199 lifts the roller 197 and disengages the clutch to stop the rotation of the mirror. At the same time, the stopper finger 153 operated the stopper switch 158 to disengage the clutch 172 from the camera and close the shutter 114, after which, although the motor 129 and the shaft 185 continue to rotate relative to disk 193, no further photography is taken until switch 1.73 has been closed again, the breaking of relay 175 interrupting the flow of current. to the clutch 172 of the camera and. to the shutter 114 by opening the contacts 176-176a, which do not close. not until relay <B> 175 </B> is energized by a new closing of switch 173.
Obviously, switches 158, <B> 159 </B> are off when the contacts of relay 175 are not closed.
The magnetic clutch <B> 132 </B> shown in fig. 19 is naturally omitted from the circuit when the mechanical clutch shown in FIG. 20.
Fig. 22 represents an explorer device 201 according to another variant. This device differs from the device 120 of FIG. 13 or chi device 184 of FIG. 20 in that a single-turn clutch which can be controlled by hand or electrically is used, and in that the operation of the mechanism or the control head differs from that of the control heads described above.
A large number of organs of this device are the same as those which are represented in the preceding figures, so that they will not be described.
The engine 129 drives, through a gear ratio <B> 131, </B> the drive member of a single-turn clutch 202 which may be of any suitable construction, for example a commonly used Ililliard clutch. in punch presses and similar machines.
These clutches include an operating lever 203 - which; when commanded to couple the driving member and the driven member, allows the driven member to make a single revolution after which the lever 203 re-engages and the clutch is disengaged, with the driven member, and returns to its original or starting position.
The shaft 204 is mated to. the driven member of the clutch and it carries the mirror holder <B> 138 </B> and the mirror 139. Normally, the mirror is in the. position shown in fig. 23, so that the mirror holder 138 serves as an opaque shutter preventing the wise passage of the. light between the optical paths 1.19, 119a, of the fi;% 1.2 or the openings 141, 142 of the wire. 22.
The shaft 204 is supported by a front bearing 137 and outside this bearing a disc 205 is mounted loose on the shaft and is fixed to the front wall 206 of the housing.
The 20.5 disc is. graduated from 0 to 30, like the disc 146 of fig. 16 and for the same purpose, that is to say that these marks correspond to marks from 0 to 30 of the gra duation 1.40 indicating the surface explored by the mirror <B> 139 </B> in a complete exploration of the support 125.
The outer end of shaft 204 is threaded to receive knob or nut 155, this nut securing fingers <B> 153, </B> 154 in their various adjustment positions on shaft 204, as is done. described above for the previous figures. These fingers control the switches 158, 159, as already described.
The housing 136 carries, on each edge of its lower window 141 (which is wide enough to allow the mirror <B> 1.39 </B> to explore the support 125 from 0 to 30) baffles or flaps 207, 208, each of these shutters being suspended from ears 136a., 136b carried by the housing (Fig. 22). A rod 209 for each flap extends outside the housing 206 and a handle 210 is attached to this rod. A dial 21.1 is located near a needle 212 carried by the handle, and it is graduated from 0 to 30, so as to correspond to the graduation 1-10, the graduation of the dial 211 indicating the setting of the. position of the flaps to delimit the optical path at the corresponding point on the support 125.
For example, if we consider fig. 23, the shutter 207 determines the left edge or starting edge of the field at point 0 on the support 125, and the shutter 208 determines the right edge of the field explored at 15 on the support. 125; consequently, the only surface that the drawer can see to explore is that which corresponds to the first fifteen centimeters of the document from 0 to 15 on the graduation 140.
Assuming that shutter 207 was set to 1.5 on dial 211, its lower end would be at 15 on bracket 125 and if shutter 208 had been set to 30 on its dial 211, its lower end would be at 30 on bracket. support 125 and the explored surface would have a length of 15 cm starting at 15 and ending at 30 on the graduation 140.
The lower edges of the shutters are established in any suitable manner, so that their position can be adjusted, for example by means of extensions, one of which is shown at 213 in FIG. 24, these extensions can be split and fixed to the shutter 207 by means of wing screws 214, obviously. The shutters can therefore be brought into contact with any part of the document carried by the support 125 in order to determine the surface to be explored of this document: Locking nuts 215 are used to immobilize the shutters in the position which has them. been given.
It is obvious that the shutters can be used with any type of explorer device, but they are particularly useful with the type shown in fig. 22 for the reasons which will be explained later.
When the shutters 207 are employed in a photographic copying apparatus, the lamps 115, 11.7, which may be tubular lamps, are lowered towards the support 125 in a position such that their light passes under the lower edges of the illuminated shutters. write the document; the lamps may be sup ported in any suitable manner by the side walls 126a of the window 126b of the trunk. One, 115, of these lamps is shown schematically in this position in FIG. 23.
When the shutters include extensions such as 213, the lamps 115, 117 cannot be used since they are outside the shutters and their light cannot reach the space between these shutters. In this case, the lamps 115, 1.7.6 are placed at each end of the operating device 120 (FIG. 13) between the ends 141a, 141b of the window 141 and the neighboring parts, such as the inner wall of the housing 150. A space is made here for the lamps and they are arranged so that their light is reflected down onto the document. between the baffles.
Fig. 25 shows schematically the circuits of the apparatus when it comprises a device as shown in FIG. 22. The operation is very similar to that of the circuits of FIG. 19 and the same elements have the same reference numbers.
Assuming that one wishes to copy a document from 0 to 15 on the support 125, the flaps 207, 208 are adjusted in the manner described above in order to delimit the surface to be scanned. The starting finger 154 is placed a little to the right of 0 on disk 205, and the stop finger 153 on 15 on disk 205.
Switch 168 is closed; the indicator 170 comes on. Switch 173 is momentarily closed, which energizes the electromagnet 216 which acts on the control lever 203 of the clutch 202, by doing so. move this lever from the position shown in solid lines to the position shown in broken lines. The indicator light 171 goes out because its circuit is cut in 203a (fig: 25).
The lever 203 releases the eame 202a from the operating lever of the clutch 202. The clutch then operates in such a way as to make the mirror 139 make a full revolution, ie 360, and, during this revolution, the mirror explores it. copy which is on the support <B> 125, </B> between the panes.
The starting finger 154 having been brought to 15, it controls the switch 159 at the desired moment to energize the relay 179 and engage the clutch 172 of the graphic camera, so as to drive the film 105 which is located in this device, in sync with the rotation of the mirror which explores the document. At the end of the exploited surface, the stop finger 153 controls the switch 158 to return the circuit to the standby position.
The indicator light 183 and the switch 7.73a operate in the manner already described.
If switch 173a is closed, clutch 202 is continuously engaged, but camera clutch 172, controlled by switches <B> 158, 159, </B> is not. engaged to drive the film only while the mirror explores the document between the flaps 207, 208.
The shutter of the camera can be omitted, if desired, when the device of FIG. 22, because the film is only impressed when the mirror definitely explores the document. At rest, the mirror holder 138 occupies the position shown in FIG. 23 and prevents light from passing through chamber <B> 136e </B> through window 141 to 142 and vice versa.
The interior walls of chamber <B> 1.36e </B> and all exterior surfaces of mirror holder 138 are given a non-reflective matte black finish, and chamber <B> 136e </B> includes all others. devices desired to prevent light from passing therethrough, except where mirror 139 is part of the optical path between windows 141 and 142.
If desired, the electromagnet 216 can be omitted and the clutch release member 203 can. be mechanically controlled to trigger the clutch. As the set of levers which are necessary to obtain this result is well known, it will not be described. Such a variation does not change the control of the film in the graphics camera.
The description which has just been given applies to the apparatus used for copying and in particular to the microfilm copying of a document. fixed carried by the support 125. In all cases, synchronous motors 129 and 170 are used to drive the film and the scanning mirror at fixed relative speeds. Other means can be used, for example a coupled mechanical control, but such a control is not free from vibrations and risks causing the appearance of streaks on the developed film.
The apparatus used as projection and magnification apparatus will now be described. It is obvious that any one of the exploratory devices of FIGS. 13, 20 or 22, the operation of which presents only a few slight differences, as does that of their control heads. The use of the device as an enlargement device will therefore be described with the explorer device of FIG. 13, and we will briefly mention the differences which exist when employing the exploratory devices of FIGS. 18 and 22.
To make an enlargement, the film 105 disposed in the projection head is driven in the direction desired for projection and carries the usual images. A suitable light source projects a beam of light through this film and through the objective <B> 111 </B> along path 119a to the mirror <B> 139, </B> which, when is rotated, reflects light along path 119 to form a stripe-like image on a sheet of product. photosensitive kept motionless on the support 125 in the clear image plane of the lens.
The switch 217 (fig. 19) is opened to switch off the lamps 115, 11.6, 117 and, if the switch 173 is then controlled as described above, the mirror 139 scans the selected surface on the sheet. photosensitive in 125, whatever the image carried by the film 105.
If the sensitive paper is moved on the support in the sharp image plane of the lens by any suitable paper support mechanism in synchronism with the film drive 105 (the control head being adjusted so that the mirror is stationary, adjustment which is obtained by opening the switch 218 which is normally closed), the switch 173a being closed and the fingers 153, 154 spaced from the shaft 135 in such a way that the switches 158 and 1.59 are not periodically controlled, the device will operate continuously by reflecting the images (or a continuous image of any length) carried by the film onto the photosensitive paper without requiring further attention.
This operation is carried out by means of a synchronous motor which drives the paper drive mechanism, as already indicated, and of a synchronous motor for dragging the film into the projection apparatus, as well as it has been described above.
The shutter 1.14 can be omitted when the device is used as a projection apparatus, since the lamp of the projection apparatus is only lit when the apparatus is in use. If a shutter is used, light will only reach the sensitive paper while the film is being fed.
The disc 146 can be adjusted so as to place the mirror 1.39 so that the beam reflected by it is stationary in the clear image plane 125, at a suitable point, for example at 15 of the graduation 140, and the The positive mirror is locked in this position by the toothed wheel 148 and the nut 151. as seen above. When a continuous operation is completed, as has just been described, the device is stopped by opening the switch 168, which has the effect. to cut the circuit. relay 1.79 as described above and stop the film drive.
When the device 181 (fig. 20) is used for projection and enlargement, its operation is about the same as that of the device of fig. 13.
To make an enlargement using the movable mirror, one proceeds in the manner described above.
If the photosensitive paper is drawn onto the support 125, the operation is the same as that which has been described above. The clutch 186, 187 is open, the fingers 153, 151 not being used, and the mirror is stationary, the clutch being kept disengaged as indicated in FIG. 20.
When the device 201 (fig. 22) is used for projection and enlargement, its operation is approximately the same as that of the device of fig. 13.
To make an enlargement using the movable mirror, one proceeds in the manner described above.
It will be noted that the term exploration used here designates the action of mirror 139 (or optical device reflecting a beam) which consists of: a) receiving the beam reflected by the document which is located on the support 125 and reflecting this beam on the 'objective 111 when the apparatus is used to copy images onto a moving film, or b) to receive the light beam coming from a moving film and to reflect this beam on a photosensitive product carried by the support 125.
It is possible to replace the mirror 139 by any equivalent optical device for reflecting the light beam.
The expression exploration period denotes the period of time during which the mirror 139 actually reflects light in one direction or the other on the paths 119 and 119a, whether the camera is used as a camera. or as a projection and enlargement device.
Many modifications of the described control mechanism can be conceived. As an example of such modifications, Fig. 26 shows schematically an arrangement in which a pedal 220 is connected to an operating lever 221 similar to the operating lever 203 described previously. The lever (the operating lever 221 is normally energized by spring 222, so as to engage the cam (operation 202a of clutch 202.
This arrangement therefore makes it possible to control, by means of a pedal, the clutch of the device of FIG. 22.
If it is desired for the clutch to operate continuously, the pedal 220 can be locked in its lower position by any suitable means (not shown).
Fig. 27 represents a clutch controlled by a solenoid 223. This solenoid is mounted, with the clutch and the other active parts, on the device or inside the device generally shown by line 22 -1, but to facilitate the operation of the solenoid, a suitable flexible cable 225 carrying at its outer end the push-button control switch 226 can extend from the trunk 224, so that an operator seated. in front of the appliance (fig. 12)
does not need to lean forward to order a button attached to this. a- same. It can be seen that the wires 227 are connected to the control circuits described above. Obviously, switch 226 can be a foot switch, so that the operator's hands are free.
Figs. 28, 29 and 30 represent a mplified type of control device. In this device, the shaft 228 is the driving shaft of the clutch, and it carries the mirror device 138. The shaft can be supported by a fixed bearing 229 and. it carries to. its outer end (left end in FIG. 29) two contact members 230, 231 mounted idle so as to be able to move freely on this shaft. Each of these bodies has a curved contact on its periphery. The contact disc 230 carries a contact 232, and the disc 231. carries a contact 233 which is slightly shorter than the contact 232.
The contact 232 extends over the outer flat face 231 of the disc 230, so that when the two discs are placed side by side, as shown in FIG. 28, the contacts 232, 233 are electrically connected to one another.
Two brushes 235, 236 are applied to the contacts 232 and 233. A dial 237 is fixed to the shaft 228 by means of a key 238, so as to rotate with it and to be able to move axially on this shaft whose shaft outer end is threaded to receive a button 239.
The outer face of the disc 230 bears marks 210, and the outer face of the disc 231 bears marks 211, the outer face of the dial 237 bearing marks 242.
As shown in fig. 30, the camera clutch 172 is connected to the brushes 235, 236 and related contacts 232, 233, the wires 2-13 being connected to a suitable source of motive force, so that when the shaft 228 rotates, the operation of the clutch 172 of the camera is controlled and that, by adjusting the relative position of the contacts 232 and 233, the ins as to which this clutch is engaged, to drive the film, and released , to stop this training, can be adjusted relative to the position of mirror 139 on its travel of ba layage of document 118 in the manner described above.
The discs 230, <B> 231 </B> can be locked in any adjustment position relative to each other and relative to the shaft 228 by tightening the nut 239, and these discs do not rotate. to drive the film only when the clutch 202 is actuated to connect the shaft 228 to its motor.
