Process for manufacturing a container filled with a liquid or pasty substance.
The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a container filled with a liquid or pasty substance, characterized in that a length of thermoplastic tube is filled with said substance, in that pressure is applied to the walls. of the tube, transversely thereto, at places situated at distances equal to the length of an individual container, so as to move said substance away from the walls of the tube at the places where the pressure is applied, so that the walls of the tube can come into contact with each other at these places, in that these walls are welded to each other by an application of eba- mer, so as to form a tube-shaped container closed at both ends,
then in that the container thus formed is separated from the remaining part of the length of tube, by severing the t. tube through the welded area, so that this part of the tube length also remains closed.
The accompanying drawing illustrates, by way of example, the process according to the invention.

Fig. 7 illustrates a method of filling an elastic tube closed at one end.
Figs. 8 and 9 show a container in the form of a tube with a slit made on the neck of said tube.
In fig. 1 and 2, there is shown a container: 1 in the form of a cushion closed by welding at the ends 2 and 2a. Near a welded end, the wall thereof is provided with 3-shaped indentations in the form of spots to indicate the places where punctures are made.
The closed spatula-shaped end indicated by 2a is fringed and can be used to smooth or extend the contents expelled from the tube. The firm end of the spatula 2a can be used as a support for a pin-shaped instrument 3a provided for the possible execution of a subsequent puncture.
Fig. 3 shows a tube similar to that shown in FIG. 1, with the difference that the end 2 of the tube is neck-shaped and the welded parts can be cut along the dotted lines. The closed end in the shape of a spatula is indicated by 2a and serves as a support for a pin 3a. The place where the puncture must be made by means of the pin for the expulsion of the contents is indicated by 3.
Fig. 3a shows a tube, similar to that shown in FIG. 1, which carries at its end 2 two non-welded necks 3b, these necks each having a slit made with a sharp blade along the line x-. The content is expelled by bending the spatula 2a in the direction opposite to the slits and at the same time by pressure applied to the wall of the tube; fig. 3b shows a closed end of the tube shown in FIG. 3a, with the difference that three necks 3b are provided, these necks being in the form of a zigzag. The necks are split along the xy line and the contents of the tube are expelled as for the tube of fig. 3 ".
Fig. 3e shows an analotgtze tube to that shown in fig. 1, but provided with an eyelet and a closure 4 therefor, this eyelet being intended to allow the tube to be refilled.
Fig. 4 shows a row of tune-shaped containers each similar to the single tube of FIG. 3, made by filling a tube of a great length with a filling substance and applying pressure at places 2 and 2a to bring the walls of the tube into contact with each other, so that they can be welded by the application of heat. The pressing and welding tool is shaped to form a neck at one end of one unit and straight bore at the next unit, in one operation.
A row of containers, each similar to the single tube of fig. 3 ", is shown in fig. 4a; this row is made by filling a very long casing by means of a filling substance and by applying at places 2 and 2a a pressure to bring the walls of the tube in contact with each other, so that they can be welded by the application of heat. The pressing and welding tool is shaped to form necks at one end of a unit and weld rectilinear at the other end After probing, the tube-shaped containers are separated from each other.
If we refer to fig. 4b, it is shown there how a tubing of great length making it possible to manufacture a certain number of tube-shaped containers is provided with the eyelets shown in FIGS. 3 "and 3d. A mandrel 4a is introduced into the casing and the eyelets indicated by 4 are fixed in holes made for this purpose before filling the casing and separating it into compartments.
A tube of great length shown in FIG. 5 is filled by means of a substance 1a and brought opposite the rounded-edged pressing tools 7, so that when pressure is applied the contents of the tube are pushed away from the pressed regions, the walls of the tube come into contact with each other and the heat generators 5, in the present case high frequency generators (electrodes), perform the probing.
The electrodes may have recesses for the passage of a refrigerant fluid.
Part 7 of the pressing tool is made of an electrically non-conductive material and its function is to keep, during the welding operation, the contents of the casing away from the place where the heat generator , indicated by 5, acts so as not to hinder the welding of the walls and not to deteriorate. this content.
Welding tools can carry blades for sectioning tubes. Such a blade can be movable in a slot provided in one of the probing tools. During the cutting operation of the thermoplastic material tube to detach a finished container, at the same time, using an instrument, an opening is made in at least one place of the envelope of the container.
At least one opening can be made on each side of the container. At the same time as the cutting of the thermoplastic material tube is carried out in order to detach a finished container, a transverse slit of length equal to half the length of the circumference of the tube can be made on the tube.
At the same time as the tube is cut, the spatula-shaped part can be cut so as to form a fringe usable in the manner of a brush to spread the substance expelled from the container. It is also possible to use a tube of thermoplastic material divided longitudinally by an internal wall into two parallel tubes, in order to be able to fill each with a different substance.
Fig. 5a shows how the contents of the casing are pushed aside by the pressure exerted by the pair of welding tools shown in FIG. 5.
Fig. 5h schematically shows a rotary apparatus for the manufacture of a number of tube-shaped containers. A number of lengths of substance-filled casing 20 are arranged parallel to each other and are fed between rotating pressing rollers having ribs 21 which, during rotation, press on the casing transversely to it. Ci, pushing the contents of the tube to the sides of the pressing place and weld the walls of the tube to form separate compartments 22.
The casing is provided with decal impressions, as shown in fig. 6, to indicate the place where a puncture, possibly in the form of a slit, is made.
A mandrel b is introduced into the casing 1, an impression 3 is made on a sheet material free of fiber lb. The printing die is pressed with its printed side onto the casing and heat is applied to this die to effect the decal.
The way in which the filling of a plastic tubing closed at one end and filled with paste or a semiliquid substance is carried out is shown in fig. 7; for this purpose, in the plastic tubing 1, welded to the e. xtremity 2, is introduced a metal tube 12 filled with a paste 17 which is supplied by a funnel 14 by exerting a pressure on a piston 13. 16 designates the mouth of the tube 12 which has an opening 15 for the passage. of the paste 17 from the aforesaid tube 12 in the casing 1, in the direction of the arrow. The contents of the metal tube will fill, as a result of the application of pressure on the piston 13, the plastic tubing which will slide in the direction of the arrow on the metal tube, without leaving air holes in the substance.
When the plastic tube is completely filled, the open end is welded and the tube-shaped containers are made as shown in fig. 5. To allow the use of the filling device for tubes of different diameters, the head 16 of the filling tube is removable and of a diameter such that the plastic tube is slightly stretched thereon.
In fig. 8 and 9 is shown a container in the form of a tube like that shown in FIG. 3, with the difference that a slot is cut on the neck of the tube. The filled tube is indicated by 1, a closed end is indicated by 2a and the other closed end by 2.
