This arrangement allows air circulation between the panels 2 and the plates 6, of gray cast iron, forming envelopes containing an insulating material 6a at the ends of the cooking chamber 7. The upper edges of the panels 2 are folded flat inwards and downwards to polish curved edges which can penetrate into the outlet openings 5, so to support the panels 2.
In the ventilation or aeration chambers 8 and in the lower part of the cooker there is a pipe system 9, of vent-aris 10 < / B> and valves 11. A from this system of pipes traversed by the gas extends a tube 12 ending in a nozzle 13 forming watch-Lise and arranged in the vicinity of the orifices 14 made for the pitch gas in a pipe 15 placed at the upper part of the cooking chamber.
Tubes 16 connect the taps 11 to the venturis 10 to lead them the gas which must mix with the air in these venturis, thus to constitute a suitable combustible mixture. In this way, when turning the knobs 11a, control of the taps to their ignition position, the gas which escapes through the orifices 14 and the orifices of the pipes forming briileurs is ignited by the flame of the pilot burner. The gas pipe on the right side of the range is designated as 15, while the one on the left side is designated as 15a.
These two pipes measure different lengths. This arrangement is intended to allow the temperature prevailing in the heating chamber to be adjusted or the degree of heating to be varied according to the quantity of meat or other products being cooked. The division between the pipes 15 and 15a is shown in fig. 2 just above says burner 13 (the burner. A to the right of this division are, two Burner pipes de- signed by 18. Likewise, to the left of this division are three similar pipes designated by 18a.
On pipes 18 and 18a are. supported by mineral radiant elements 19 provided on their lower surfaces with tapered radiating tips 20. Each of these radiant elements is cut by a number of transverse nits 21 extending throughout the part of these elements which is provided with the spikes 20.
In the chamber and above these radiant elements there is a retaining member 22 provided at its th% hopper edges 23 intended for </ B> keep the outer edges of the outer radiant elements against the pipes 18 and 18a which are drilled (as shown in fig. 2, 5, 6 </ B> and 7) of orifices 18b. Between the flanges 23 are a-Liters retaining members di ered downwards which are,
fixed to the lower face of the member 22 and which bear downwards against the edges of the radiant elements to keep them tightly applied against the burner pipes. This contributes to to prevent the breakage of these radiant elements which are fragile, which makes it possible to surer -Lin suitable heat radiation towards the food being cooked.
In the front wall of the cooker there is a bay 25 in which is mounted a door 26 which can pivot around its upper edge to pass from the position shown in fig. 6 to that shown in fig. 5 and vice versa .. Above the bay 25, the front wall of the range is lined with thermal insulation. 27. In the rear wall is also provided a thermal insulation 28.
A inside the rear wall is mounted a plate 29 secured in a position such that its upper edge is clearly above the rear edge of the plate or grid 'DO food support, the lower edge of this plate 29 being folded forward as shown in 31 to create a drip edge . The role of this rim is to force all the juices which escape, by the rear edge of the grid 30 to be directed into -a shower, to drip 32. The latter is provided with a handle 33 to facilitate its handling.
On its rear edge, the grid 30 is for view of a retaining bar 34 the purpose of which is to prevent food being cooked, its (the escape by sliding ù the distance from the rear edge of the grid, if the latter is moved too quickly. A its ends, the bar 34 is fixed to the grid 30 and, in its middle part, it is spaced upwards to allow the food juices to escape freely out of the grid to fall into the bowl 32. </ B > In addition,
foods that adhere to the grid during cooking can be scraped off it and pushed under bar 34 to fall into the drip pan when the grid is pulled out all or nearly all of it entirely, that is to say up to the position shown in FIG. 5.
Bosses or knobs are provided on the underside of the grille 30 and may be attached to it in any suitable manner. Each of these bosses 35 and 36 is notched at its lower part to receive rods 37 and 38 by means of which rods 39 and 40 are articulated to the bosses and consequently to the grid itself.
Locks 41 and 42 are articulated on the lower faces of the bosses and, serve. to #, - to hold the rods 37 and 38. If you want to release the grid for cleaning, you pull it inside yourself to the position shown in the fi (r. 5 and rotate the locks 41 and 42 around their axes to release the rods 37 and 38. We can then lift the grid away from these rods and transport it in any corner- fashionable place for its washing.
A handle 45 is connected by an arm 46 to the front edge of the grille (as clearly shown in Figs. 5 and 6); it constitutes the body by means of which one can release the grille through the opening 25. At their upper ends, the links 39 and 40 are provided with knobs extending laterally to through the lining 47 of the cooking chamber, the thermal insulation 6a and the gray cast iron casing 6. These knobs or pivots 48 and 49 (see fig. 4) pass through contact bearings of the type without oil capable of resisting to high temperatures.
These clean cushions minimize the amount of wear resulting from the use of balance springs 50 and 51. On the outer ends of knobs 48 and 49 52 and 53 cranks are rigidly attached which transform the tension of the springs into a rotational movement of the knobs 48 and 49 and thus cause the rods to oscillate 39 and 40 from one to a-Liter of the positions shown in fig. 5 and 6.
The two ends of the springs 50 and 51 are connected to fixing members 54 and 55 , the first of which are adjustable to vary the tension of the springs 50 and 51. As the fasteners 55 are attached to the cranks 52 </ B> and 53, the springs exert on them a force which tends to to turn buttons 48 and 49 and to lift by there even the grid inside the inside of the cooking chamber (as shown in fig. 6), or to </ B > the exterior of this chamber (as shown in fig. 5).
The distance between the pivots 48 and the shaft 37 is there. same as that which separates the pivots 49 from Farbre 38, but the rods 39 and 40 are not parallel because the distance between the pivots 48 and 49 is not not the same as that which separates trees 37 and 38. As these trees are found.
at the same height above the bottom of the cooker and the distances between them and the grid 40 are different, this grid is tilted backwards, as shown in fig. 6. However, the pivot 49 is sufficiently raised above the pivot 48 to compensate for the difference in distance between the shafts 37 and âS and the plate 30. It results in that this plate is horizontal when it is released and brought to the position shown in 5, it It is therefore obvious that at no time during the operation of the grid, the rods are parallel.
It will be noted that the springs 50 and 51 form an acute angle between them and also that the lines which join the centers of the pivots 48, 55a and 49, 55b < / B> are not parallel, so that the tension exerted by the springs cannot cross any dead point when the two springs pull in the direction of the line of centers as indicated above. As shown in fig. 4, the crank 52 must pivot approximately 900 before the center line is in line with the spring 50, </ B> while the 53 crank rotates through an angle between 30 and 35 ' before passing through neutral.
It follows that the 53 crank would be found noticeably beyond neutral before the. my level 52 did not reach this point during its movement towards the position shown in fig. 5. Thus, the traction of the springs is such that there is no tendency to cross a neutral point and to come suddenly occupy an end position. During the period following when the crank 53 crosses neutral and before the crank 52 reaches it, the two springs 50 </ B> and 51 shoot at each other. The balance is therefore better assured, and the grid does not move suddenly enough for the food to be thrown.
An arm 56 is fixed towards each of the lower angles of the door 26 and is placed so to bear against the edges of the rods 39, so that when the handle 45 is exerted a downward pressure and a pull, in order to release the grid 30 from the oven, the rods 39 < / B> push against the ends of the arms 56 and force the door to open, as shown in fig. 5. This door is slightly shorter in the horizontal direction than the bay 25 in which it swivels, so that this door is not watertight when heat expands it. The door can therefore be closed freely by its own weight when the grid is pushed back into the cooking chamber.
It can therefore be seen that the opening or closing of the door 26 is fully automatic and does not require any attention on the part of the operator who only pulls to </ B> him the grid out of the cooking chamber or to the #, bring in.
In its upper edge, inie cranks 52 presents a series of notches 58 in which can. engage the spout 59 of a pawl 60 pivoting on the cast iron part 6. The adjustment member 61 < / B> door against the upper end of the ratchet 60 to stop it at various points of its rotation around its pivot and to predetermine it.
stop position of the spout, 59 engaged in one or the other of the notches 58. On the front part of the cooker casing is - an indicator plate on which moves a needle 63 moving in front of a series of numbers provided on the face of this plate 62 to indicate which of the notches will be engaged by the pawl and reveal there even if door 26 will be closed completely . nt or partially. This also indicates the relative degree of closeness of the. grid 30 in relation to the heating elements. A stop 64 limits the travel of the indicator needle 63 in the year and the other direction.
This arrangement obviously makes it possible to adjust the intensity of the. temperature to which the food on the grill is subjected.
Stops 65 and 66 limit the range of pivoting of the respective cranks 52 and 53 when the grid is released of the cooking chamber. Since the rotation of these cranks is stopped by the stops 65 and 66, the oscillation of the rods 39 and 40 and consequently of the rods 37 and M must be stopped by these stops. It is therefore obvious that the position of the grid to the exterior of the cooking chamber is always the same when it is fixed by the stops.
On its upper edge, the door 26 has a baffle 68 which (as shown in fig. 6) tends to prevent the escape of fear, fimie and odors between the door 26 and the top of the front wall of the cooker frame.
The register 70 provided with a raised rim around its edges and provided with a control handle 71 can slide on the plate 22 to vary the direction of propagation of the heat and fumes rising to through the cooking chamber to exit through an opening 72 made under the plate î3 of the sinière cooker.
As shown in Figs. 5 and 6, it is impossible to completely close the opening located behind the 70 register for the simple reason that rod 74 which is part of the 71 handle is not long enough to allow it.
It can be pulled forward to close the sea to almost completely. opening on the front edge. register 70 thus forcing all gases yes to approximately to to escape along the rear edge of the register and through the orifice 72. A baffle 72a is loosely attached to the rear part of the cooker below the hole 72; it directs the gas upwards in order to protect the adja cente wall where they could cause a fatty deposit.
The ledge of the register 70 has a notch in its front edge, and the rod 74 is hollowed out with a groove near its inner end, a groove in which the edges of this notch engage to form an easily separable connection between the rim and the rod. Thus, by removing the plate 73, by moving the register 70 forward towards the front wall of the casing and by lifting the rear edge of this register , it is possible to stop the connection between the rim and the tîge 74 and release the register. This allows easy access to the support of the radiant elements and to remove it as well as said elements elements and heating elements, if necessary.
One of the elements for retaining the radiant elements is shown at 75 in fig. 5; it is fixed to the lower face of the plate 22 and resiliently presses against the upper surface of the radiant elements. It is obviously understood that an electric heating system can replace the gas heating system shown in Figs. 1 to 6. The cooker plate 73 can be made of cast iron and can be used for grilling or frying, it is provided on its periphery with a groove 76 intended to collect the frying which can sometimes flow towards the edge of this plate.
In the posterior left angle of the plate and at the intersection of the posterior groove and the lateral grooves is formed a sump 79 presenting in its bottom 1-ui ori from which starts a pipe 78 ending at the lower part of the cooking chamber (as shown in fig. 2) where the fri- turk drains into the bowl 32. When you want to -use the upper plate 73 for frying, it is preferable to set the register 70 to force a as much heat as possible to keep its leading edge in contact with the plate 73. If, however,
we want to temporarily stop using this plate 73 and only use the broiler, we can adjust the register 70 towards the front part of the upper chamber 77. Most of the gas then flows backwards under the damper to escape through Forifiee 72.
When removing an end panel by releasing the fastener 3, by pivoting the lower edge cl-Li panel outwards, then lifting it slightly, inside ventilation chamber is exposed and it becomes possible to access to the equipment inside in order to make adjustment or to a cleaning.
The end walls 47 have a minimum number of openings, in order to reduce as much as possible the possibility for heat to pass directly from the cooking chamber through the openings in the ventilation chambers which are located at both ends of the, stove. The two end plates 47 are pierced with orifices providing passage for the shafts 48 and 49 and the left plate 47 is provided with an orifice providing passage for the pipe 78. Thanks to the fact that the wall the plates 47 and the back plate extend almost uninterrupted to , the interior of the cooker can be easily cleaned.
The rear edge of the 73 plate is provided with a 80 pan which facilitates the gripping of objects to even this plate and prevents scrapings to be pushed over its rear part.
If you do not want to use the upper cast iron plate 73 as a cooking plate, it can be replaced by a sheet metal plate provided on three of its sides with a rim facing towards the bottom and intended to keep it in a suitable position relative to the frame of the cooker of which it is then part.
In this arrangement, an insulating material 81 is placed on the register 70, and a shorter shaft 74 replaces, the one shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, so that the register body is held substantially against the front wall of the 77. chamber. of the register 70 and the presence of the thermo-insulating material 81 tend to prevent the upper sheet metal part 82 </ B > overheating. With regard to this construction, reference will be made to FIG. 7.
To transform this a-Li gas cooker into an electric cooker, it is necessary to remove the radiant elements, the gas burners, the pipes and the pipes. valves and to mount a reflective plate 22a polished and provided with electric heating elements 83 on its underside at the place of the aforesaid organs.
This plate gives off an adjustable quantity of heat since the electric heating elements are divided into two parts as in the hypothesis of gas burners and each part is itself divided. - seated in several circuits allowing different heating rates. It is in fact possible to regulate the flow of current to through these circuits by means of switches 84 and 85 which allow three heating stages: one stage at low temperature, a rate at medium temperature, and a rate at high temperature.
For this construction, reference will be made to in fig. 8.
