Clasp for jewelry items. The object of the present invention is a clasp for articles of jewelry, such as necklaces, chains, bracelets, etc., characterized in that it comprises two elements intended to be fixed to the ends of the object which is desired. ensure the closure, and arranged so as to allow them to fit together, one of the elements, in the form of a sleeve, being provided with a radially directed member and the other having at least one slot extending longitudinally over a part of its length, terminated in a bayonet and the width of which corresponds to the diameter of said transverse member, the clasp comprising, in addition,
a spring at. coil placed in one of the elements on which it rests and acting on the other element, all these elements and organs being shaped and arranged in such a way that it is possible, for the closing of the clasp, to push the slot element in the element provided with the transverse member, so as to engage the latter to the bottom of the slot by compressing the spring, and then perform a slight rotation of one of the elements relative to the 'Another to bring the transverse organ, by the relaxation of the spring, into the bayonet housing, where it remains immobilized until the procedure is carried out in the opposite direction to obtain the opening of the clasp.
The appended drawing represents, in a schematic manner, an embodiment of the clasp and a variant, all given by way of example.
In the embodiment, fig. 1 to 5: The fi-. 1 shows a longitudinal section of one of the elements of the clasp.
Fig. 2 is a cross section along the line II-4I of FIG. 1 ..
Fig. 3 is an elevational view of another element of the clasp.
Fig. 4 is: an end view from the left of FIG. 3.
Fig. 5, partially in section, represents the elements of the clasp fitted into one another.
Fig. 6 is a view similar to FIG. 5 showing the alternative embodiment of the clasp. The clasp shown in Figs. 1 to 5 comprises two main elements 1 and 2, intended to be attached to the ends of an article of jewelry, such as, for example, a necklace, a bracelet, a chain, etc. These elements can have any shape and size appropriate to the object to which they are to serve as a clasp. In the embodiment shown, the element 1 has a socket shape and a diameter slightly larger than that of the element 2 which is solid, so that the latter can fit without play in the first.
The fasteners are distributed between these two elements as follows: Element 1 is provided towards its open end with a pin 3, fixed transversely, as shown in FIG. 2 .. The element has a slot 4 extending longitudinally over part of its length and into the open end of which the pin 3 can be engaged when the element 2 is pushed into the element. 1.
The other end of this slot has the shape of a neat bayon lock, so that when the pin 3 reaches the bottom of the slot 4, the element 2 can be rotated in the element 1 by a fraction. turn, enough to bring the pin 3 into a housing 5, so that this pin engages in the element 2 and retains the latter in the closed position, thanks to the action of a spring antagonist 6, which is placed between the two elements 1 and 2, and which rests on the bottom of element 1 and acts on element 2.
In fig. 1, the spring 6 is housed in the element 1 and in the relaxed state occupies the space between the bottom 7 of the element and the pin 3. It goes without saying that this spring could also be housed in the element. 2, as shown in the variant of FIG. 6. For this purpose, instead of being solid, the element 2 is hollow and has the shape of a socket.
The ankle 3, instead of passing right through the tubular part of the element 1, could have the shape of a finger directed radially and fixed in a cantilever manner inside the wall of the element. 1. For greater stability, two fingers can be provided, dieLmetrically opposed, and arranged to be able to engage on either side in the slot of the element 2. FIGS. 5 and 6 show the assembly of the clasp according to the invention.
The elements 1 and 2 are provided with loops 8, 8 'respectively, or any other fastening means capable of making them integral with the ends of the article of jewelry to which they are to serve as a clasp. The element is introduced into the barrel of element 1 and it is rotated until the pin 3 of element 1 engages in slot 4 of element 2. At this time, we pushes the elements into each other, compressing the spring 6, until. until the ankle reaches the bottom of the lunge.
A slight rotation of a fraction is then carried out. turn of element 2 around the axis of element 1, until the pin abuts against the bottom of housing 5 and element 2 is released. The latter is pushed back by the action of the spring 6, by trapping the pin 3 in the housing 5.
By this double movement of the ankle, first rectilinear, in the slot 4, and then rotating, to bring it into the housing 5 where it is retained by the pressure of the spring 6, the clasp offers a guarantee of safety since the he opening can only be obtained by two consecutive movements in different directions which could not be carried out unexpectedly.
In fact, to open the clasp, one proceeds in reverse order, by first compressing the spring in order to remove the ankle from its housing, then the element 2 is turned to bring the ankle back into the slot 4 and the thimble. spring tent 6 disengages the two elements from each other and produces the opening of the moiré iron.
