Appareil pour assujettir des bandes métalliques de serrage et d'empaquetage. On connaît des appareils assujettissant des bandes métalliques. de serrage et d'empaque tage qui comportent des griffes opérant si- inultanément; grâce à la pression exercée par celles-ci, les parties de bandes en recouvre ment, auxquelles on peut adjoindre une pièce il'asacmblage métallique ou fixation, sont dé- foi,mée-# par la pression contre une butée mu- niP de renforcements correspondant aux ;;

L'appareil peut .être constitué, en ce qui concerne les détails de construction, de bien d'autres manières différentes de celle qui vient d'être représentée et décrite. Ainsi qu'il a été déjà mentionne, d'autres moyens pour tendre la bande peuvent être employés. Apparatus for securing metal bands for clamping and packaging. There are known devices securing metal strips. clamping and stacking which include claws operating simultaneously; thanks to the pressure exerted by these, the parts of the overlapping bands, to which a piece of metal assembly or fixing can be added, are deflected, mée- # by the pressure against a multi-stopper of reinforcements corresponding to ;;
ifffe, the claws, with their operating mechanism being supported by a support, 1i # claw holder, which can pivot about an axis parallel to the direction of the bands.
The device covered by the. present invention, of a particularly avai-euse construction, 1 is characterized in that the control mechanism of the claws is constituted by a pair (the levers crosses, articulated,
at the ends of levers carrying the grif- fc-s, externalities located at. opposite the claws, said crossed levers pivoting on the door- one of them comprising to. its free end a lever with two unequal arms, the smaller of said arms being.
shaped as a profiled liiècc eccentric with respect to its <<xf. (rotation, while at the end of the other crossed lever is housed a roller co-operating with said profiled part.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the apparatus according to the invention.
Fig. 1 shows in perspective this realization, mounted above a box, with a strip introduced into the apparatus and ready to be used. be subject.
Fig. 2 is a section through the grip holder and the backing plate, perpendicular to the strip.
The thread;. 3 shows the apparatus seen from the side where the strip is introduced, the nail holder being lowered.
The, fig. 4 shows the claw holder and the organs located in the vicinity, seen from the side where the scissors used to cut the strip are mounted.
Fig. 5, finally, shows the nail holder seen from the other side which carries a locking piece preventing pine claws before the nail holder has been lowered.
On a base plate 1 is mounted a support 2 carrying the clamping members, which consist of a case-hardened tension roller 3 whose surface -is corrugated -and in a support plate 4, also case-hardened and corrugated, which fits into the base plate 1 directly below the. roller pressure 3. The tension roller can. be lifted above the. support plate when the band has to be engaged on it and lowered when the band has to be compressed when tightening. For this purpose, the spindle 5 of the tensioning roller is mounted eccentrically in a ring, not shown, housed in the support, which can turn by means of a hand lever 6.
The spindle 5 itself is provided with a ratchet wheel not shown and can be rotated by means of a hand lever 7 carrying a ratchet; likewise, it was ensured that the tension roller is held in place after tightening, thanks to a ratchet. The clamping means can be constructed in many other ways and do not form part of the present invention.
The base plate further supports a tape holder 9 with a tab 10, which projects across the base plate, forming a narrow gap 11 (Figs. 3 and 4), in which part of the tape can be placed: Between the belt holder 9 and the tension roller 3, there is a recess 8 in the base plate, forming a clearance for the claws when the claw holder is. lowered. Behind the recess 8; the gi! iffes carrier 12 is mounted on a pivot pin 13 in bearings 14.
On the side facing the recess 8, the tongue 10 has a cutting edge 15 and on the same side the tape holder 9 has a jaw of a scissor device 16 in the form of a lever with two arms pivoting in the tape holder, by means of a pin 17, one of these arms being connected to a rotary arm 18 pivoting on the claw holder, said arm 18 forming, with a jaw 16 of the scissors, a toggle joint.
The other arm of the two-armed vier completing the scissor device, has a cutting edge 19 which cooperates with the cutting edge 15, when the nail holder is lowered by turning around the spindle 13, so as to cut a piece of tape placed across the lanyard 10.
The claw holder 12 consists of two side pieces 20 and 21, which are firmly connected together at a constant distance from each other by means of rods passing through a number of intermediate pieces 22 (Pig. 2), of which one in two carries obliquely cut pieces protruding under the lower edges of the lateral pieces and constituting supports 23 for gripping the parts of strips.
In the intervals between the gripping supports 23 advance the claws 24 carried by levers with two arms 25. These. levers can pivot around pins 26 secured in side pieces 20 and 21 and are connected at their opposite ends to a pair of two-armed levers 27 and 28 which are mounted in scissor-like manner by means of a spindle 29, the ends of which can slide in slots 30 of the side pieces 20 and 21, each of the levers of said pair being formed of two identical levers.
The levers 27 carry between them, at their free ends, a roller 31 and likewise the levers 28, the free ends of which are in front of the apparatus when the door-gi? Iffes, a. turned from the open position to the. closed position, carry a hand lever 32 with two unequal arms whose short arm, projecting downwards, has a cut-out shape having a curve 33 eccentric with respect to the axis of rotation of the lever. In addition, the free ends of the scissor levers 27 and 28 are interconnected by a pair of spells 34 with coil.
As shown in fig. 5, the lateral part 21 carries a lever 36 with two arms capable of rotating about an axis 35, said lever forming locking pieces for the axis 29 of the scissors and presenting to this. effect at one end a stop which can block one end of the axis 29. The other end of the lever 36 is provided with a finger 39 which exceeds the lowest edge of the side piece 21, when, under the action of a spring 38, the lever is retained by its stop 37 under the axis 29 of the crossed levers. By lowering the claw holder, the finger 39 will come into contact. with base plate 1 and will be. pushed upwards, which will cause the rotation of the lever 36 and the unlocking of the axis 29.
In fig. 1, we see the two parts 40 and 41 of a strip placed all around a box, and which are inserted into the device. At the place where the tightening is to be carried out, a metal assembly part 42 is placed.

The apparatus may be constituted, with regard to construction details, in many other ways different from that which has just been shown and described. As already mentioned, other means for tensioning the band can be employed. The claws and the nip holder can take different shapes, thus, for example, an assembly is formed by the band parts alone, which may previously take the form of tubes, without the use of a metal connecting piece.
