Process for straightening profiled metal bars and machine for implementing this process. In the manufacture of profiled metal bars, it is common for these to be bent or twisted. It also happens that the profile itself is deformed and it is necessary to bring it back to the expected shape.
Currently, these different works are often done. by hand, with a hammer; there are also straightening machines, but these are only completely satisfactory in a limited number of cases.
The method forming the subject of the present invention should allow a generalization of the execution to. the machine of these different straightening, untwisting and rectification of the profile of the bars. It is applicable in most. cases, even the most difficult, such as: profiles of complicated or asymmetrical shape, profiles with low moment of inertia, etc. It consists in forcing the bar to pass through a series of guides with dies, the position of which is adjustable transversely to the bar, part of the dies performing a movement perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the. bar, in order to obtain a complete untwisting and straightening of the profile of the. closed off.
The invention further relates to a machine for implementing the method. In what follows, an embodiment of the object of the invention is described by way of example and with reference to the appended drawing which shows, in a summary manner, an embodiment of the machine for the implementation of the process.
Fig. 1 is an elevation with partial sections.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of FIG. 1. FIG. 3 shows the diagram of the passage of the profiled bar between the guides of the machine.
Figs. 4 to 7 give, on a larger scale, various details of the main organs of the machine.
Fig. 4 is an elevation of the head support, seen from the end; with the mechanism used to grip and advance the bar.
Fig. 5 shows, in elevation, a movable guide seen from the end.
Fig. 6 shows the same guide in section, and the. fig. 7, finally, is. an elevation, partly in section, of a fixed guide.
The machine shown has a bench 1 supported by two feet \? and 3, the first of which carries a speed variator 4, connecting the motor 5 to the transmission shaft 6 supported by the bearings 7 and 8.
At each end of the bench 1 is mounted a head support: the support 9 for entering the profile and the support 10 for output of said section. Each of the supports is provided with a mechanism for advancing the profiled bar, the purpose of which is to grasp and pass it. bar through the machine. This mechanism has two pulleys 11 'and 13' at the inlet and. 11 and 1 \? at the exit, rotating in the opposite direction with the same peripheral speed and which clamp the bar together by means of rubber elements of appropriate shape to the profile. The pulleys are fitted with devices for adjusting their distance.
The bar straightening mechanism 13 comprises a certain number of fixed 14 and mobile 15 guides. Each guide is equipped with a die 16; respectively 16 ', following the shape of the profile with more or less play. The dies are interchangeable. so as to be able to them. replace if worn or when you want to change the profile.
Guide adjustment devices 1 make it possible to adjust the transverse position of each fixed or mobile guide. Means are also provided for orienting the section of the die around the axis of the profile. The dies of the 15 mobile aids are driven by an oscillating movement around the axis of the machine or around an axis parallel to it, by means of an eccentric 17 dam which engages a pinion 18 mounted on the shaft 19. The orientation of the profile around the axis is maintained during movement by means of a connecting rod? 0.
Means are also provided for adjusting the speed and amplitude of the eccentrics with oscillatory movement.
If the focus. of these various means and adjustment devices is made in a correct manner, the profiled bar which has passed through the various dies of the machine comes out straight, without leaving any angle of torsion whatsoever.
Depending on the case, the file guides can be partially replaced by mobile guides.
