Contact converter with switching chokes for high performance. A new type of converter has recently become known under the designation "contact converter" in which the conversion from one type of current to the other takes place with the aid of periodically actuated mechanical switching contacts. An essential feature of this contact converter is the use of switching chokes in series with the switching contacts.
This is to be understood as a choke coil whose iron core is already saturated by very low load currents and is only desaturated in the course of an over-switching section when it falls below a very low current that can still be switched off without sparking, which means that a practically currentless pause in the current curve that is required for burn-off-free switching is sufficient Duration arises.
Also of importance are so-called "bypasses" consisting of capacitors and ohmic resistors or other circuit elements to the contact isolating lines, which allow the current in the switching inductor to remain for a while after the contact has been opened, so that during this time the recurring voltage is still from the Switching choke is added and kept away from the isolating distance.
For the forming of alternating or Three-phase current to direct current or vice versa has been used in such contact converters as the so-called. Graetz circuit proved to be particularly advantageous, by means of which a 2p-phase direct current ripple is achieved in a p-phase transformer using a contact group consisting of 2p individual contacts.
The present invention now relates to a circuit for contact converters, which comes into question when it comes to coping with particularly large powers beyond the already very high, but still limited, performance of an individual contact group go out from 2p contacts. More precisely, the invention provides a special type of interconnection of several contact groups to form a common contact converter unit.
In the circuit according to the invention, the transformer has a star-connected and a delta-connected secondary winding, to each of which a number of contact systems connected in parallel, each equipped with a special switching inductor group and controlled in phase, are connected in Graetz's circuit the contact systems of the other part winding are connected together on the DC side.
The interconnection of the contact systems belonging to the different partial windings can be done either by series connection or by parallel connection, depending on the level of the desired DC voltage. A significant advantage of the circuit according to the invention results from the fact that the parallel connection of the contact systems working on one and the same secondary winding on closed, in-phase contact systems can take place without special parallel switching means, since the switching reactors, which are connected in groups upstream of the individual contact systems, already have one Ensure sufficient, even power distribution to the systems working in parallel.
Due to the phase shift of the two transformer secondary windings, the overall circuit results in a quadrupling of the ordinal number of the lowest harmonic in the direct current circuit, i.e. a 4p-phase direct current ripple, compared to the number of phases of the individual transformer winding.
In the drawing, an execution example of the invention is shown. In addition to the primary winding 1 connected in delta, the transformer has two secondary windings 2 and 3, of which the former is also connected in triangle and the second in star. On each secondary winding two contact systems 4 and 5 respectively. 6 and 7 attached in Graetz's circuit, where the associated contact systems are each controlled in phase. The number of contact systems connected to each secondary winding can naturally also be selected to be larger. The contact systems 4 and 5 and the contact systems 6 and 7 are connected in parallel with each other directly.
A uniform current distribution is achieved by the fact that each contact system has a special group 8, 9, 10, 11 of switching chokes. The two parallel connections of two Sy systems 4 and 5 respectively. 6 and 7 are then connected in series in the present case, as can be easily seen, in order to achieve a higher voltage, but it is also easily possible to connect these two parallel circuits to one another as well as the one in parallel, although then a special one Suction throttle or some other flow divider arrangement is required.
