Device comprising a maneuvering member provided with a combination locking mechanism. The present invention relates to a device comprising an operating member provided with a combination locking mechanism, characterized in that it comprises several rotating cylinders arranged coaxially with a control rod presented by the operating member. and comprising teeth which are received in circular internal grooves hollowed out in these cylinders which also each have an internal notch,
the whole arranged so that when the notches have been brought by rotation of the cylinders opposite the corresponding teeth of the control rod, the latter is unlocked and can be moved longitudinally because the notches provide passage for the teeth of the stem.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, embodiments of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a sectional view of a form constituted by a starting switch for a motor vehicle. Fig. 2 is a sectional view of a form in which the control rod is used to lock the handlebars of a bicycle.
Fig. 3 is a sectional view of a form constituted by a lock.
Fig. 4 is a view of a variant of the device of FIG. 3.
Fig. 1 shows a start switch comprising an operating member provided with a combination locking mechanism comprising four cylinders 3 whose peripheral surfaces bear letters or numbers which serve to form the agreed combination, by rotating said cylinders; these are each hollowed out with a circular inner groove 3 '. In each groove is housed one of the teeth 5 carried by a control rod 6 integral with the operating button 7.
When the cylinders 3 are brought by rotation into the position corresponding to the agreed combination of the internal notches not shown with which these cylinders are provided are brought opposite the teeth 3, so that the rod 6, pushed by the button 7 can move axially, the notches of the cylinders then providing passage to the teeth 5. The inner end of the rod 6 actuates the not shown contacts of the switch. Each cylinder 3 has internally, parallel to the rod 6, one of the aforementioned notches, and the cylinders are arranged coaxially with the rod 6.
This switch comprises a base 1 and a plate 2 by means of which by means of screws not shown it can be fixed to the apron of an automobile. The rod 6 slides in a tubular part 4 screwed into the plate 2 and on which the cylinders rotate.
The device of FIG. 2 comprises a locking mechanism similar to that of the switch of FIG. 1. This mechanism comprises three rotary cylinders 3 hollowed out with circular internal grooves 3 ', in which the teeth 5 are received, fixed to the control rod 6 to which is fitted an operating button 7. The rotated end. higher of the rod 6 is capable either of making integral or of leaving two independent tubes 27 and 28, the inner tube 27 being that of the handlebars of a bicycle.
The arrangement and operation of the locking mechanism are the same as in the case of FIG. 1.
The lock shown in Fig.3 is more specifically intended for a mobile car door. It comprises a control rod 12, provided with teeth 13, 13 'and 13 ", which are housed in internal circular grooves 23, 23', 23" hollowed out in the cylinders 16, 16 'and 16 "; the latter are arranged coaxially with the rod 12 on a tubular part of a part 18 in which the rod 12 slides. When it comes to achieving the desired combination of the letters included in the rings 17, 17 ', 17 ", by galalith, for example, placed on these cylinders, they are rotated on said tubular part.
The lock is fixed by means of a base plate 11 to the door 10 of the automobile. The tubular part of the part 18 has a longitudinal slot, through which the teeth 13, 13 'and 13 "pass; this rod 12 can thus be driven rotatably by the part 18. The part 18 is provided with a handle 19 and The opposite end of the rod 12 carries a toothed wheel 20 intended to engage it in a rack 21 fixed to a part 22 constituting the closing member of the lock.
When, by rotating the cylinders 16, 16 ', 16' ', the desired combination has been achieved, the teeth 13, 13' and 13 "are located respectively opposite notches 30, 30 'and 30" presented internally by the cylinders and can, under the effect of a pressure exerted on the rod 12 by the button 24, pass through these notches. The wheel 20 driven by the movement of the rod would then be released from the rack 21 and if at this moment the combination is decomposed, the rod 12 will be locked in this position and it will no longer be possible, even by turning the handle 19, move the closing piece 22 and open the door.
To open the latter, the desired combination will have to be made again so as to unlock the rod 12 which can then, under the action of the spring 32, move axially outwards so that the wheel 20 meshes with the wheel. rack 21 to allow the opening of the door 10, when the handle 19 is turned.
In the variant of this lock shown partially in FIG. 4, the crowns 17, 17 'and 17 <B> "</B> have been replaced by a single disc on which letters or numbers are reproduced; cry gaze from this disc move needles, each connected to one of the cylinders 16, 16 'and 16 "of the lock, these needles making it possible to form the combination releasing the rod 12.
Balls 26, housed in corresponding cavities, serve to fix the exact position of the cylinders.
