Defrosting device on evaporators of refrigerating machines. In refrigeration systems that work with evaporation temperatures below 0 C, the air humidity naturally settles on the evaporators as frost. This frost forms an insulating layer on the evaporator surface and worsens the heat exchange, i.e. the release of cold into the cold room air.
In order to always keep the effect of a vaporizer, the frost must therefore be defrosted more often. If the machine of a refrigeration system is chosen to be so large that it produces the necessary refrigeration capacity in a fraction of the time of the day, then such a machine has a corresponding downtime during which the evaporator can defrost itself if the downtime extends over a sufficiently long period of time and the refrigerator compartment temperature is a few degrees above zero during the standing time. However, if the machine has to run most of the time, or especially if the cold room temperature is constantly below zero degrees, the evaporator cannot defrost itself.
In such cases, therefore, defrosting must be carried out artificially, by the operating personnel or automatically, either by reversing the cooling process in which the evaporator is turned into a condenser, or by heating, for example by adding a low voltage through the evaporator , very large electric current is carried. Both types are understandable; therefore, in most cases, an electric heater is placed under the evaporator and thawed with warm air. The efficiency of this type of defrosting is poor, however, because most of the heat generated goes into the cold room in an undesired manner.
In order to remedy these disadvantages, according to the present invention, an electric heater is installed in a collector tank for the Kälteflüs downstream of the expansion valve of the refrigeration machine, to which current is temporarily supplied to defrost the evaporator.
The drawing shows an exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, namely: FIG. 1 shows a schematic representation of part of a refrigeration machine with the defrosting device according to the invention, FIG. 2 is a vertical section on a larger scale along the line I-1 of Fig. 1 through the lower collector tank of the Ver evaporator.
1 is a liquid that comes from the condenser, not shown, of a refrigeration machine, and 2 denotes an automatic or thermostatic expansion valve connected to this line 1, which is connected by a pipe 3 to the downstream of this valve, below the collector tank 4 of an evaporator 5 . In the designed as a cylindrical hollow body, closed at one end, below the collector boiler 4, a cylindrical hollow body 6 (Fig. 2) is installed, which is also completed at one end. 7 (Fig. 2) denotes a seal which closes the hollow space between the two bodies 4 and 6 at their free end in a gas-tight manner.
The cavity of the inner cylindrical body 6 accommodates an electrical heating body 8, which is provided with two connecting wires 9 and 10. From the lower collector boiler 4, the tubes 11 of the evaporator 5 lead to an upper collector boiler 12. The tubes 11 carry fins 13 which are connected to the same metal.
An electrical shut-off valve 15 is built into the suction line 14 of the refrigeration machine, which line leads to the compressor of this machine, also not shown, which is opened when it receives an electrical current, but is otherwise closed. 16 be denotes a mercury tube of a thermostat, otherwise not shown, which is arranged in a space to be cooled by the evaporator 5, not shown in detail. The connected to an electrical line 18 to switch point 17 of the mercury tube 16 is turned on when the temperature in the ge called refrigerator is high, while the switch point connected to the electrical line 9 19 of the tube 16 is turned on at low temperature in the refrigerator.
An electrical line 20 leads from a network 22, to which the line 18 is also connected, the mercury tube 16 of the thermostat at the contact point 21 Kon to power. In the electrical line 10, which leads from the electric heater 8 to the network 22, a locking device 23 is installed so that the automatic thaw from the evaporator 5 can only take place at certain fixed times.
The operation of the device described is as follows: Assuming the temperature in the refrigerator, in which the United steamer 5 is installed, is high. The switching tube 16 of the thermostat located in this room is therefore set in such a way that the circuit at contact 17 is closed and the electrical shut-off valve 15 is opened as a result, so that now the United steamer 5 via the suction line 14 with the compressor in operation is connected to the refrigeration machine and therefore cools. As soon as a fixed lower limit of the cooling chamber temperature is reached, the tube 16 switches the thermostat over so that the contact 17 is opened and the contact 19 is closed.
The shut-off valve 15 is now closed, the pressure in the evaporator 5 rises, the injection valve 2 is also closed and the electrical heating body 8 current flows through the contact 19 now. The switching on of the exhaust stream takes place practically simultaneously with the shutdown of the evaporator 5 caused by the thermostat. The heating current flowing into the radiator 8 now causes the refrigerant contained in the collecting tank 4 to evaporate, where the resulting vapor on the cold Robrwandungen of the Evaporator 5 condenses, whereby this is heated from the inside and defrosted.
The heating capacity of the body 8 is such that the heating of the evaporator 5 rises only a few degrees above the cooling room temperature despite continuous operation. As soon as the temperature in the cooling space has reached a fixed upper limit, the tube 16 of the thermostat causes the heating to be switched off automatically, the valves 15 and 2 being set so that the evaporator 5 can work normally again. The defrosting starts after each cooling period, unless the blocking valve 23 limits the defrosting period to certain times. This clock 23 allows to determine the time during which current flows to the radiator 8.
In cases where defrosting lasts only a short time but the standing time is long, the defrosting time can be limited by a clock or a thermostat with a temperature sensor on the evaporator.
