Randkettenwirkmasehine.
Edge warp knitting machine. In round warp knitting machines, the needle is usually tilted onto the knock-off comb in order to alternately avoid the thread and catch the thread or a thread crossing when going up and down. Tilting and moving the needle he calls for an operation by complicated needle bars.
According to the invention, on the other hand, the pivoting of the needle to catch the thread is effected by a spreading device which is effective between the needle and the needle bed. For this purpose, a movable intermediate piece is provided between the needle and the needle bed, which spreads the needle when it descends to catch the thread or a thread crossing, while the intermediate piece becomes so ineffective when the needle is raised that the needle evades the thread.
The movable intermediate piece acting as a spreader can be formed, for example, by a spreading lever articulated on the needle or on the needle bed, which automatically spreads the needle in the direction of the thread by being supported on a counterpart when the needle begins to descend. At the end of the descent of the needle, the spreading effect ceases due to the omission of the counterpart, for example formed by a tooth comb, and the movable intermediate part takes up such a position again; that the needle goes past the thread or crosshair when it goes up in a non-splayed position.
The drawing illustrates the invention using an exemplary embodiment and shows different positions of the needle in the needle bed and variants of the attachment of the tooth comb on the needle bed.
Fig. 1 to 5 are sections through a needle bed, in the milled grooves, the needles are pushed up and off in a known manner; 6 is a plan view of a piece of needle bed with needles which are in the highest position just before the needles go down again and catch the thread crosses; 7 shows a single working needle with an articulated lever in the spread position; Fig. 8 shows a single abutment for the expansion lever in the form of a tooth comb.
The needle bed 1 has cutouts 2 in which the working needles 3 are pushed up and down. The needles are held in a known manner by a helical spring 4 and pressed onto the needle bed. On each needle, a one-armed expansion lever 5 is articulated as an intermediate piece between the needle and needle bed in a recess 10 of the needle, while a toothed comb 7 with ratchet teeth 6 is provided on the opposite part of the needle bed as a counterpart to the intermediate piece he mentioned. The teeth are enlarged for clarity. The tooth comb 7, which is shown separately in FIG. 8, can be attached to the needle bed in an exchangeable manner by means of a screw 8, as can be seen from FIGS. 1 and 2.
In Fig. 3 to 5, the tooth comb is not shown as a separate part to simplify the drawing. With 9 threads respectively. Thread crossings denotes which evon the hook-shaped end of the work needle are captured in order to form the knitted fabric 11.
In Fig. 1 the needle is shown approximately in its highest position. At the beginning of the decline, there is an engagement between the tip of the lever 5 and the teeth 6, so that the needle is pivoted out by the spreading effect during further decline, catches the thread 9 (Fig. 2) and descends with the thread (Fig. 3 ).
Towards the end of the companionway, the expansion lever 5 disengages from its counterpart 7 and enters a sufficiently large recess 12 of the needle bed or. of the counterpart 7, so that the spreading effect ceases and the needle returns to its normal position in the needle bed (Fig. 4.).
If the working needle now goes up from its lower position (Fig. 5), the lever 5 lies in the corresponding recess 10 of the needle and remains sunk except for a protruding small tip so that the needle can avoid the thread 9 when it goes up, as Figures 5 and 1 show.
The spreader lever or another movable intermediate piece acting as a spreader can also be arranged in reverse on the needle bed 1, in which case the counterpart, for example the tooth comb 7, would have to be arranged on the needle itself.
