Cette invention comprend aussi un appa reil pour la. mise en aeuvre du procédé ci- dessus. Cet appareil est caractérisé en ce qu'il eomprend un récipient comportant, d'une part, au moins un orifice d'amenée d'air et au moins un canal pour l'évacuation des fumées et. d'antre part, au moins une cloison verti cale;
Heating method and apparatus for carrying out this method. The present invention comprises a heating process, characterized in that, in the same apparatus, the fuel is gradually carbonized, the carbon thus obtained is gasified and the products of this zation are burned with the gaseous products. - carbonization.
This invention also includes an apparatus for the. implementation of the above method. This apparatus is characterized in that it includes a receptacle comprising, on the one hand, at least one air supply orifice and at least one channel for the evacuation of fumes and. on the other hand, at least one vertical partition;
the lower end of the latter not reaching the bottom of said receptacle, the bottom constituting the hearth of the appliance, the receptacle thus comprising at least two parts, one of which is intended to be filled. Combus tible to be carbonized, means being provided for bringing the gasified products, originating from the carbonization of the fuel, into the hearth of the appliance. The attached drawing shows, schematically and by way of example, three embodiments of the apparatus which the invention comprises.
The fib. 1 is a vertical sectional view of the first embodiment .comprenant a container provided with a vertical partition; Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view of the second embodiment comprising a container provided with two vertical walls; The fia. 3 is a vertical sectional view of the third embodiment -d'execution comprising a container provided with two vertical walls and two channels for the evacuation of fu mées.
The devices shown are more specifically intended for. burning wood, but can also be supplied with mineral fuel: to be charred, such as peat. The apparatus shown on fia. 1 comprises a container 1 divided into two parts 2 and 3 by means of a vertical partition 4. The latter does not reach the bottom of the container 1 constituting the fireplace. Part 3 of the container may be filled with fuel to be charred, which also occupies the bottom of part 2 approximately up to the level of end 5 of the partition 4.
The apparatus shown in -fig. 1 has, on the one hand, a first air supply orifice 6, at the base of the container 1 and, on the other hand, a .second orifice 7 approximately at the height of the end 5 partition 4.
This device is turned on either at the bottom of the receptacle 1, before full filling, or between points 5, 6 and 7 after wise filling; the bottom of container 1 then gradually ignites and the fumes escape through channel 8, heating part 2. Likewise, part 3 heats up little by little and the wood it contains is gradually chars and descends to the base of the container, where it arrives completely charred.
During this carbonization, it gives rise to volatile hydrocarbons and tarry vapors, a portion of which spreads in the. part 3; -Where a suitable duct 9 brings them hot, by depression, in the lower part of the fireplace.
The duct 9 can also serve to bring air from the outside, so as to activate the transport of volatile products. The latter can also bypass the end of the wall 4 and burn in the region between the air supply orifice 7 and the end 5.
When the appliance is in operation, the wood in part 3 gradually chars as it descends. It is transformed into charcoal when it arrives at the base of the vessel 1 where, by the combustion of this char, one obtains CO 'which is rapidly reduced to C0, which is mixed with the volatile products from of part 3, a mixture which burns in part 2 thanks to the supply of air obtained through the adjustable orifice 7. This air can be preheated.
The apparatus shown in FIG. 2 com takes two vertical partitions 12 not reaching the bottom of the container 1, which thus has three parts, one, 10, serving. the evacuation of fumes and the combustion of volatile products, the others, 11, normally filled with fuel to be carbonized. Openings 6 and 7, a channel 8 and a conduit 9 play the same role as in the apparatus of FIG. 1.
The apparatus shown in FIG. 3 also has two partitions 13, but the wood is piled up in the median part 4u the container which comprises two channels 8 for the evacuation -des smoke and two orifices 7 for supplying air; this results in faster and more complete carbonization and combustion of the wood.
The devices shown can be used in central heating installations; they can, by means of two to three loads of wood per day, be inextinguishable, which, until now, had hardly been possible.
In addition, these devices, being provided at their upper end with a removable cover, can be easily constructed to burn long logs, -so as to reduce the costs of preparation and handling of the fuel, the calorific output of which is increased in a significant proportion.
One could also provide a device -de cylindrical shape, provided with a vertical partition .circulaire cale.
