Description
Raupenwagen.
Caterpillars. The present invention relates to a caterpillar with wedge caterpillar belts which are used to move the vehicle.
The essence of the invention is that the caterpillar belts ever from blunt th wedges, z. B. wood, iron or rubber wedges, and at least two flexible pulling members, z. B. wire ropes, chains or rubber bands, by which the wedges are joined together to form a band, are made, these wedges are fixed at equal distances from each other on the tension members and each band runs on at least two V-wheels.
The subject of the invention is partially shown on the accompanying drawing in an exemplary embodiment, namely Fig. 1 shows an interior view of two wedges of the belt, Fig. 2 shows a side view of a single wedge, Section, Fig. 4 side view of the whole caterpillar carriage with caterpillar belt and wheels and support rollers and tensioning roller.
In the drawing, 1 and 2 denote the truncated wedge cut in two parts through which two chains (possibly wire ropes or other flexible traction elements) 3 and 4 are pulled through the cut, which are clamped to the wedges by screws 6 and 6. The pulling organs can also be on the. Wedges instead of being fastened in them with screws b and 6, and thus the wedges do not need to be cut. 7 is a topping, e.g. B. on wooden wedges made of iron or rubber, also on iron wedges made of rubber. 8 are the wedge-shaped flanges of the wedge and drive wheels in which the belt runs. 9 are the connecting bolts that hold the two flanges of the wheel together. 10 is an axle of the vehicle.
11 is a tension pulley that tensions the belt. 12 are support rollers that press the belt onto the floor.
The caterpillar belt according to the present drawing and description is characterized by its great simplicity, durability, efficiency and cheapness.
The caterpillar according to the drawing can be used on land as in the water, since it is designed as a floating body, and since it has means to be able to attach shovels to the wedges, for longer water trips.
The wagon could also only be built for land journeys as a tractor for loads. It can be designed as drive wheels 4 or only 2 sprockets.
