Process to accelerate the hardening of cement. The object of the invention is a method to make cement hardening so quickly that with it water breakthroughs in cellars, tunnels, etc. can immediately clogged who can.
It is known to mix cement with alkali lye, water glass or solutions of chlorides of lime, clay and iron and to achieve a faster hardening of the cement through these admixtures. These methods have the disadvantage that the cement mixed with these liquids becomes brittle after a short time. In addition, there is a risk of injuring hands and face when handling concentrated alkalis and acidic chloride solutions. Since fast-hardening cement is also used to cast machine parts, the addition of chlorides can cause severe rusting of iron parts.
These deficiencies are eliminated by the present invention. It is not after this, as in the known method, a solution, but a powder used. That, mixed with cement and water, forms a pla tical mass.
The raw material for this powder is the residue left over from the manufacture of aluminum sulphate, which is known for short as Si material. As is well known, it is used instead of trass as an additive to concrete in order to give it a denser structure and thus protect it against the influences of aggressive water.
Other properties of the Si material are used for the present invention. A powder made of Si material, calcium oxide and calcined soda is used, which forms a plastic mass with cement and water, which is characterized by the fact that it adjoins the walls of the openings well when pressed into the thermoset fracture points, does not become brittle and solidifies in a few minutes.
For the powder to work well, it is advisable if there is a certain ratio of soda and calcium in it. Advantageously, there will only be enough calcium oxide available that, after adding water, this is completely converted into the inert carbonate, and soda only partially converted into sodium hydrate. Through the latter, alumina and considerable amounts of silica are released from the Si material. This solution works not only on the Si material, but also hardens on the cement; However, this process is significantly supported by the warming and chemical bonding of water that occurs during the conversion of the calcium oxide.
It is not the sum of the individual effects of the substances known per se, but the effect of the substances on one another that is decisive for achieving the intended effect.
