also Blen- dennummernzeiger sind.

EMI0003.0050
Nach Fig. 7 ergibt sich demnach:
EMI0003.0052
und
EMI0003.0053
Device for determining the photographic depth of field with a given setting distance and a given aperture number. One already knows devices for determining the photographic depth of field with a given setting distance and given aperture number and vice versa for determining the setting distance and the lens trim to the selected limit distances of an object area to be sharply imaged.
These known devices have number tables, graphic tables or slide-rule-like structures -au f, so that they are in part quite difficult to handle. Some of these devices even have loose aids, such as thread or ruler.
The present invention relates to a device of the type mentioned, which is intended to remedy the disadvantages mentioned and to facilitate the determinations. This device according to the invention is characterized by a movable distance scale and a fixed mark opposite it to indicate the setting distance, as well as by two pointers that can be moved symmetrically to the mark to indicate the limit distances of the depth of field and by at least one diaphragm which is in motion connection with at least one of the depth of field pointers. number pointer which marks at least one scale of aperture numbers belonging to a certain image format.
In the drawing, two execution examples of the subject invention are Darge provides.
FIGS. 1 and 4 each show a plan view of the two exemplary embodiments, and FIGS. 2 and 5 each show an axial section of the two exemplary embodiments a crown rotating the distance scales, FIGS. 3 and 6 each show an axial section of the two exemplary embodiments through a crown moving the hands, while FIGS. 7 / B > Dierit to explain mathematical formulas, and FIG. 8 shows a detail.
According to FIGS. 1 to 8 , the device having a housing 1 is provided with a work plate 2 on which circular rings 3 on both sides are placed, the upper one also having an outwardly protruding edge 4. The latter, together with a round plate 5 , is used to fasten the work plate 2 in the housing 1 by means of the screws 6. The scale plate 7 < / B> has the aperture number scales 8 for the most popular picture formats with the indication 9 of these picture formats. It is by means of the screws 10 at the front Circular ring 3 attached.
To accommodate a peg 11 and a hollow peg 12, the three plates 2, 5 and 7 are drilled through in the center. In addition, the work plate 2 and the scale plate 7 have in the center each a circular, recessed bearing 13 and 14 for receiving the Ilohl pin 12 and a gear 15. There is a gear 16 on the journal 11 and a gear 17 of the same size on the hollow journal 12 attached, while the larger gear 15 only rubs on the outwardly protruding edge of the hollow pin 12 and in the ge named bearing 14 independently of the other gears 16 </ B > and 17 can be rotated.
The gear 15 is provided with a distance scale 18 for the adjustment distances and the limit distances of the depth of field, which is provided by a recess in the fixed scale plate 7 19 is made visible in the form of half a circular ring.
Furthermore, on the same gear wheel 15 there is a multiple scale 20 for the images on the photographic image, corresponding to the image formats listed on the scale plate 7 at 9 Apparent human head height in line with the setting distance to be read off a fixed mark 21 on the scale plate 7 and made visible through a second recess 22 in the scale plate 7.
The gear 15 carrying the movable scale 18 is moved by rotating a crown 23 by means of an axle 24 and a gear 25 fixed on it, while the pin 11 </ B> and the Ilohl pin 12 can be rotated in opposite directions to one another by means of a crown 26 by means of an axis 27 and a gear wheel 28 fixed thereon.
Two pointers 29 and 30 are attached symmetrically to the mark 21 on the two pegs 11 and 12, which can be moved by rotating the crown 26 move symmetrically to the fixed mark 21, the pointers 2911 and 3011 as depth focus pointers on the scale 18 and the other pointers 29b and 3011, which as extensions going beyond the axis of rotation the depth of field pointers are designed to play on the aperture number scales 8 ,
so are aperture number pointers. A locking screw 31 located in the C-round plate 5 penetrates through a sector-shaped cutout 32 in the foremost gear 16 and is limited as a result, the pointer movement over a game space the size of a right angle.
The second exemplary embodiment shown in FIGS. 4 to 6 differs from the first in that only one aperture number pointer 33 is provided, which is located on a pin 34 in the work plate 2 and the scale plate 7 mounted toothed wheel 35 , which is connected to the upper gear 17 <by an intermediate wheel 36 mounted in the same way / B> is engaged. In this example, only one aperture number pointer is provided, which is connected to one of the two depth of field pointers by a gear drive.
The use of the devices shown will now be explained with reference to FIG. 1: Here, the pointers 29b and 30b each line two aperture number scales, which each belong to a certain image format, namely to the image formats 6 > < 9 cm and 13 > < 18 cm , resp. 4> < 6 cm and 9 > <12 cm.
If the limit distances of the depth of field are to be determined for a given setting distance and a given aperture number, then the selected setting diameter is set by turning the crown 23 to the mark 21 and then by turning the crown 26 the one in question Have the aperture stop pointer 29b or Sob displayed on the selected aperture number of a specific image format.
Once this has happened, the desired limit distances of the depth of field can be read from the pointers 2911 and 30a.
To solve the main task, d. h. If you are looking for the setting distance and the aperture number for one of the image formats listed for the selected limit distances of the depth of field, you must proceed on a trial basis. You will first try to bring the dimensions of the limit distances of depth of field in an approximately symmetrical position to mark 21 by rotating the crown 23 and observe whether you can 26 the depth of field pointer 29a and 30a can coincide with the dimensions mentioned.
It must be corrected by rotating both crowns until coverage is achieved, which with some practice happens quickly. Once this has been done, the setting distance can be found on the mark 21 and the aperture number for the image format in question on one of the pointers 29b or 30b. The head height for the relevant picture format and the setting distance either set or found: can be found on scale 20.
The devices shown are based on the general law of formation for a centered lens system (1), and on the 111 of Rohr's depth of field formulas (2). It is: Y ': Y = f: X = X' . f (1)
EMI0003.0027
(According to Dr. H. Harting. Optical guide for photographers, chapters 7 and 12, Verlag von Gustav Schinidt, Berlin, 1909).
With regard to these formulas, however, reference is made to FIG. 7, where the sharp image Y 'is generated from the object Y in the setting plane in the plane of the plate or focusing screen. Incidentally, all objects in the object space of the depth extension A, # - A, are shown sharply for the eye at s (. The plane of adjustment lies at a distance X from the front focal point F and the plate plane at a distance X 'from the rear focal point F' des Lens of the focal length f.
If one thinks one after the other that the Kainera is focused on the boundary plane of the front depth and that of the rearward depth, then the plate plane becomes, d. h. the plane of the image at a distance X ', respectively. X ', from the rear focal points F' are located.
In both cases, the former object Y still appears to be in focus to the eye - because based on what has been said, the expressions are formed according to (2):
EMI0003.0046
d * h. If one looks for the limit distance of the rear and that of the front depth, according to our assertion in the cases for the distance A, and if one again uses the relevant values according to (2), one obtains actually both times the value A.
The discussed bellows displacement on the camera is called the setting tolerance, for the calculation of which one can approximately replace the distance X in (1) with the only slightly larger distance --1 , as follows that
EMI0003.0050
According to Fig. 7, this results in:
EMI0003.0052
and
EMI0003.0053
from which by inserting the expressions for A, and A, after the formulas (2) it follows: Setting tolerance = Z '</ I > + f - k - Ti (3) The physiological critical angle a is assumed to be 3 1/2 minutes which is usually sufficient for photographic recordings.
The factor k in the formulas (2) and (3): k = 2 tg < B> 0.001018 (4) In addition, it should be noted that the physiological critical angle a in formula (4) according to FIG. 8 is understood to mean the angle between the two rays from the focal length - the position of the taking lens according to the diameter a of a barely perceptible circle of confusion in the photographic image - include pit with one another,
and that finite n means the aperture number according to the relative aperture system as the quotient of the focal length of the lens and the diameter of the effective aperture.
In Fig. 7 you can see the structure of the scales as well as the symmetrical position of the limit distances: It represents the starting point of the distance scale as the rear focal point of the lens the encryption A # oa (infinite) and corresponds to the sharp focus on the horizon. At a distance
EMI0004.0019
from the focal point F 'we have the sharp setting at the distance -4. The distance scale shows the code A and this is where the brand should be considered.
For this purpose, symmetrically, at a distance of + Z ', , the conjugate planes to the object boundary planes are at a distance of A, and A,. They correspond to the position of the depth of field pointers and allow the limit distances A, and A, of the object space to be sharply mapped to be read out on the distance scale Di punch corresponds to a specific aperture that is dependent on the focal length of the lens.
The position of symmetry of the depth of field pointer to the mark ei-results from the formulas (2), which express the harmonic division of the line A by the lines Av and 4; because they satisfy the conditional equation for the harmonic division:
EMI0004.0039
If these reciprocal values are interpreted as distances and are plotted from a starting point in one and the same direction, it is known that the end points of the distances -
EMI0004.0041
symmetrical to the end point of the route
EMI0004.0043
If you expand the conditional equation with f2, , you get the expressions for calculating the distance scale and after the above you come to the conclusion that the associated scale values A, and A, must always be symmetrical to the scale value A , d. h.
that the position of the two depth of field pointers to the mark must always be symmetrical.
In the devices shown, the central angles of the X 'values for the distance scale according to (la), as well as those of the Z' values for the diaphragm ridge scales according to the following) formula, are interpreted as the arc lengths of the unit circle in the illustrated devices (6) multiplied by the factor 2 = 4 and plotted from the starting point.
Furthermore, since only one and the same distance scale is used for each image format, the following conversion must first be carried out according to (la):
EMI0004.0066
The formula for calculating the aperture number scales is then:
  A - ss - Z'F = + A - yes - F - k - n (6) where the values f </ B> and F mean different lens focal lengths and the indices f and F of the X 'and 2' values indicate that they belong to the lens focal lengths f '< / B> and F express.
In the second exemplary embodiment, the transmission ratio of the aperture number pointer must still be taken into account, in that the Z 'values have to be multiplied by a certain factor. Finally, it should be mentioned how the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG . 1 the starting point of the aperture number scales must be selected so that the aperture number pointers show the correct values:
If mate sets the value zero for n in the formulas (2), A, = z A # A " d. that is, the depth is zero and the depth of field pointers must coincide on the mark. The starting points of the various aperture number scales are therefore with the aperture value n = 0 </ B > on the diameter by the mark and offset to it by 180 0 In contrast, in the second embodiment, the correct position of the aperture number pointer is achieved by adjustment.
The values for the human head height appearing in the picture are calculated according to (1) and follow one another at angular intervals on the distance scale offset by 180 0 in relation to the relevant setting young distances full 30 0.
