Device for ironing the blades of safety razors. The present invention relates to a device for ironing the blades of safety razors, comprising a support bracket with branches arranged to be slid between the safety piece and the support head of a safety razor, to the place of the blade, and be held in place by the tightening of the handle, this bracket serving as a support for a rotating roller in contact with which the ironing tape passes and for a rotating shaft arranged to be actuated by said roller and provided blade holder means for holding the ironing blade in a position such that when the razor is moved back and forth along the ironing tape, the wool is applied,
by the rotation of said roller, alternately by either side of the cutting edge on the ironing tape with a view to ironing it.
An embodiment of the object of the invention is shown, by way of example, in the appended drawing in which: FIG. 1 is a side view and FIG. 2 an end view; the ironing tape being shown in section; Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the aforementioned support bracket; Fig. 4 is a bare cross section of the device; Fig. 5 shows it by a longitudinal cut through the stirrup; Figs. 6, 7, 8 and 9 show details belonging to the fixing means of the ironing blade.
The device shown comprises a support bracket 1 whose branches are folded inwards at 2 to form longitudinal edges capable of being engaged between the safety piece 3 and the support head -4 of a safety razor. ordinary, instead of the razor blade that is there for shaving. At the ends of this stirrup are provided ears - 5 forming support brackets for a rotating roller 6 in contact with which passes the re-passage tape (or belt) 8 resting on the back of the stirrup 1, which has - rounded parts 9 on either side of a slightly concave central part, above which the roller 6 is located.
The passage between the back of the yoke 1 and the roller 6 is such that, during a relative movement in one direction and in the other between the razor and the ironing tape, there is a rotational movement of the roller . 6 alternately in one direction and the other, this rotational movement being ensured by the indicated shape of the back of the support bracket providing the desired pressure of the tape on the roller 6. One of the pivots of the roller 6 carries a toothed gnon 7. fixed there.
The ironing razor blade 23 is naked in place between two plates 10, 11, one of which, 10, is fixed on a rotary shaft 12 journalled in the lugs 5 of the support bracket. One of the pivots of this shaft carries a toothed pinion 14 meshing with pinion 7.
The plate 11 is articulated on the shaft 12 so that the plates can move away from each other by a hinge movement. , The. Plate 10 is provided with tenons 15 (fig. 6) arranged to engage in holes 16 drilled in the plate 11 (fig. 5), these tenons being established so that when the razor blade is ironed 23 is introduced between the plates 10, 11, the tenons 15 pass at the same time through the "holes provided in the razor blade.
To keep the razor blade in place and tightly clamped between the plates 10, 11, these are provided with a locking worm means comprising a locking sector 18 (fig. 8 and 9) pivoted at 19 on the plate 11 and provided with an arcuate slot 20 through which passes a tenon 21 integral * of the plate 10 (fig. 7). The tenon 21 has a head that is larger than the slot 20, which ends at one end with a widened part 22 giving passage to the head of the non-head 21. When the razor blade a. been placed between the plates 10, 11, the plate 11 is folded over the blade, the sector 18 being in a suitable position so that the tenon 21 can pass through the widened part 22 of the slot 20.
Then, the locking sector 18 is brought to the position of FIGS. 5 and 8 to hold the plates 10, 11 firmly together with the razor blade between them. When it is desired to remove the razor blade, for example after ironing it, the sector 18 is turned to the position of FIG. 9 to allow the plates 10, 11 to be separated from one another.
During use, the ironing tape 8 is passed between the roller 6 and the back of the support bracket 1 and moving the safety razor in the direction of the arrow (fig. 1), the plates 10, 11 carrying the razor blade are brought by the action of the roller 6 so as to rotate along the dotted line indicated in FIG. 1 to press one side of the cutting edge of the blade on the ironing tape 8, while, when the safety razor is moved in the opposite direction posed to the previous one, the plates 10, 11 turn in the opposite direction to press the other edge of the blade on the ironing tape 8,
the razor blade being thus alternately ironed on one and the other side of its cutting edge by the fact that it slides on the tape caught between the stirrup 9 and the roller 6 then blocked when the evening rafter is moved along tape.
To remove the device, it is enough to tighten the handle, which allows to remove the support bracket 1 with the parts that it carries between the parts 3 and 4.
