Description
Shock absorber for motor vehicles. The invention relates to a shock absorbing device for motor vehicles with a buffer rod lying transversely at the front of the vehicle. According to the invention, each support arm of the buffer rod occurs with play in a housing on the underframe of the vehicle and carries a wedge-shaped head with which it engages between the opposing legs of Fe countries that are spread apart when the support arm goes back.
With this device, the otherwise usual coil springs, which have only a very limited compressibility, are avoided. Through the use of the spring-loaded leaf springs acting on the wedge surfaces of the support arms of the buffer rod, a longer inhibition path and a springing of the buffer rod in the lateral direction of the support arms is achieved, so that the device also bumps in an oblique direction against the buffer rod able to absorb effectively resiliently. The support arms of the buffer rod can also be formed from leaf springs, which form wedge-shaped heads with which they engage between springs in the housings on the driving tool, so that they can resiliently absorb shocks in since Licher direction to the buffer rod.
In the drawing, two Ausfüh approximately examples of the subject invention are shown.
Fig. 1 shows the first example in application conditions in plan, partially cut horizontally; 2 and 3 show part of the device of FIG. 1 in a horizontal section, each in a different position; In Fig. 4 to 7 a part of the second example is shown in different positions in wag right section.
In the first example according to FIGS. 1 to 3, the buffer rod 1 is carried by two arms 2. Each arm 2 is individually supported with its rear end, designed to form a wedge-shaped head 3, in a housing 4 with play. In each housing two strong, essentially U-shaped ge curved leaf springs 5 are housed, the legs of which press against the wedge surfaces 3 of the support arm 2 associated with it. With their rear part, the springs are supported against the rear wall of the housing 4. This merges at the bottom into a foot 6 which is fastened to the underframe 8 of the vehicle by means of screws 7.
Each support arm 2 is attached to the other end with a spherical head 9 in a spring the pan 10, which is attached to the inside of the buffer rod 1 and the head 9 holds under clamping action.
With a horizontal shock from the front against the buffer rod 1 in the direction of the arrow in Fig. 2, the support arm goes against the pressure of the leaf springs 5 with its wedge-shaped head 3 in the direction of its longitudinal axis straight back and is heard after the shock of the springs pushed back again. In an oblique direction Rich against the buffer rod 1 impact (see arrow direction in Fig. 3), the support arm 2 of the buffer rod is pivoted slightly sideways, so that its wedge surfaces 3 press laterally against one or the other leg of the leaf springs 5 in the housing whereby an impact-absorbing inhibition of the device occurs without damaging it.
In the event of a shock from behind against one end of the buffer rod 1 (see arrow in Fig. 1.) This rod with the feathers the pan 10 is withdrawn from the spherical head 9 of the relevant support arm 2, whereby the buffer rod 1 on one side of the vehicle frame is released (see dash-dotted position in Fig. 1). By re-inserting the head 9 into the pan 10, the union of the support arm 2 with the buffer rod 1 can easily be taken again before.
In the second embodiment (FIGS. 4 to 7), each support arm 2 consists of a leaf spring. This has the shape of a bracket, the middle part of which forms the wedge-shaped head 3 and the legs of which form backs that face each other. The resilient leg ends of the arms 2 are inserted in loops or pockets 12 which are provided on the inside of the buffer rod 1. Since the arms 2 must be strong springs, the temple ends of each arm are advantageously pressed together by means of a filing clasp or the like when they are to be inserted into the pocket 12.
When the buffer rod 1 hits from the front (FIG. 5), the wedge surfaces of the head 3 drive the leaf springs 5 apart in the housing 4, which have a braking effect. The same resilient effect also occurs with a shock in the direction of the arrow in FIG. 6. In the event of a slight push from behind, the buffer rod 1 can also give way, since the legs of the arm 2 are pressed against each other in a springy manner. In the event of a strong impact from the rear (Fig. 7), the buffer rod 1 is torn from the arm 2, in which its leg ends are torn out of the pocket 12 without destroying the shock absorbing device.
