After this descent, the punch 72 and the piston 69 stop and the sheath 87 of the punch 72, in turn controlled by its cam 98, goes down. This sheath 87 is established so as to be able to penetrate into the sheath 38 and the bevelling of its lower edge is inclined upward from the outside to the inside.
Arriving at the edges a1 and b1, this bevelled part of the sheath 87 folds these edges and brings them into the position in which they are shown in FIG. 12. The punch 72 and the sheath 87 controlled by their respective cam come out of the die 31, leaving the cheese and its packaging in the position in which they are shown in FIG. 12. The block 3 then resumes its movement and finally brings the cheese in the appliance to finish represented by FIGS. 13 to 15.
This finishing device comprises a punch 105, mounted at the lower end of a rod 106 (fig. 13) provided with a return spring 107, rod 106 which is mounted on an arm 108 fixed at the upper end of 'a vertical rod 109, which can slide in a support 110 fixed to the plate 50. The rod 109, which is provided with a return spring 111, has a spout 112 which bears on the end of an arm 113 can oscillate on an axis 114 mounted on a support 115 provided on the base 1 of the machine. This arm 113 is provided with a roller which rolls on a cam 116 mounted on the shaft 7. The apparatus to be finished only performs one operation and therefore only has one cam 116.
The cheese and its packaging on reaching the appliance to be finished are in the die 3, in the position in which they are represented in fig. 12, the edges a1 and b1 of the shell and of its cover are still slightly raised. The punch 105 of the device to be finished controlled by its cam 116 of the ash, rests on the cheese and flattens these edges so as to make the upper face of the cheese thus packed very flat, the spring 107, adjustable, provided on the rod 106, preventing too much pressure from the punch which could cause the packaging to pop. The underside of said punch could be bent or have an inscription which would be printed on the lid of the packaging.
After having folded the edges a 'and b' of the packaging, the punch 105 goes up, the block resumes its movement and the cheese is led to a fork 121 (FIG. 2) used for. handling of cheese. Between the appliance to be finished and said fork, the piston 69, controlled by the ramp 71, rises in the die 3 'and completely takes the packed cheese out of the said die.
The folding device represented by FIGS. 8 to 12, instead of presenting the sheath 87, bevelled, for the folding down of the edges a 'and b' could be provided for the packaging of cheeses having sharp angles, with angular forks arranged either around the punch or in the block 3 and tightening simultaneously under the action of an annular flange for example. at the time of the descent of said punch, the movement of these forks can be controlled by any other appropriate device.
The stapling and folding devices which each perform respectively several consecutive or simultaneous operations, instead of constituting sets, could be divided into several separate elements, placed next to each other, each of these elements then performing at the same time. following each other the various operations of the devices as described ei-.rlessus and shown î in the accompanying drawing.
