Description

Method of making a ceramic hat. The present invention relates to a method for producing a ceramic mass which is highly acid-resistant and has great electrical insulation properties. According to the invention, a melt flow is generated in the M furnace from a mixture of silicic acid with a natural fluoride and a double silicate of aluminum with the addition of a flux which consists of 84 to 78.5% SiO2, 1.54 to 1.47% A12 0 @ , 5.85 to 5.5% Ca0, 1.18 to 1.02 / a K20 and 7,

26 to 18.5% Na20 is composed. This is achieved, for example, by using 100 parts of pure quartz sand with 99% silica if possible, 10 parts of fluorspar, 10 parts of lime feldspar and 15 parts of soda, everything (once pulverized and mixed well, at around <B> 1300 '</ B > C are melted.

The melting of the same parts of fluoro and feldspar with the quartz causes the melt to solidify into a stone or porcelain-like mass which, due to its very high silica and very low alkali content, has high acid resistance and great electrical insulation properties. To obtain colored melt flows, certain coloring oxides can be added to the mass in a known manner; very pure white masses are obtained by adding cryolite.

The mass produced in the furnace is further processed in the usual way in glass technology by pressing or blowing or pressing and blowing.
