Method for producing enamels The invention relates to a method
for the production of enamels using a boric acid-containing silicate.
wesentliche Nachteile, insbesondere hohe Schmelzpunkte, schlechte Auftragseigenschaften,
It is in the process of producing melts for enamelling
iron objects already known, the usual content of borax in whole or in part
Replace part with a boric acid-containing glass. Apart from that, from the start
such glasses, which contain lead, and also zinc and
Barium-containing glasses are unsuitable for many purposes, the use has in front
Glass as a substitute for borax for the production of enamels has the disadvantage that the commercially available
Glass powder has a constantly changing composition and contains so little boric acid,
that it cannot be regarded as a substitute for borax at all and only a minor one
Part of the borax content in an enamel to replace yermag. Nevertheless it will be a bigger one
Part of the borax content is replaced by a boric acid-containing glass
significant disadvantages, especially high melting points, poor application properties,
low chemical resistance and poor development of the white and
Colored coloring. In addition, the basic enamel, which is low in boron due to the use of glass, dissolves
very little iron and are therefore easily oversaturated with iron.
The invention consists in that in the enamel melt the content of
Borax or boric acid completely or almost completely by a strontium-calcium-magnesium-borosilicate
is replaced. An alkaline earth borosilicate of the following composition is advantageous
used: 3o to 6o o / o silica, 3 to 12% calcium oxide, 3 to 12% magnesia,
3 to 1a "/ o strontium oxide, 3 to 25% boric acid.
üblichen kristallisierten Borax in Silicatgemischen bzw.
B. folgender ungeschmolzener
Grund verwendet werden: 15 Teile Erda.lkaliborosilicat, 35 Teile Feldspät,
io Teile Quarz, 5 Teile Flußspat, 3 Teile Salpeter, 0,3 Teile Ko@altoxyd, 5 Teile
Ton.
If the borax in an enamel offset is completely or predominantly replaced by an alkaline earth borosilicate of this type, it is shown that the enamel has those properties which can otherwise only be achieved with pure borax. Furthermore, it has been found that the stated alkaline earth borosilicate is significantly more reactive than the usual crystallized borax in silicate mixtures or melts and a greater melting effect can be achieved with lower weight proportions than when using borax. The mixture of the alkaline earth borosilicate with the known refractory substances can be used immediately as a reason. Melting is therefore only necessary in the enamelling plant to the extent that the alkaline earth borosilicate is used as an additive. So z. B. following unmelted base are used: 1, 5 parts Erda.lkaliborosilicat, 35 parts of field late, io parts of silica, 5 parts of fluorspar, 3 parts of nitric, 0.3 parts Ko @ altoxyd, 5 parts of clay. The new process not only lowers the melting point compared to borax enamel, but also increases the acid resistance.
B. fäl= , gende Zusammensetzungen in

For white enamel without borax or with a greatly reduced borax content produced by the new process, e.g. B. fäl =, lowing compositions into consideration:. I. II.

The invention is suitable; to significantly improve all types of enamels and at the same time make them cheaper by saving melting and grinding costs and a significant reduction or elimination of the borax content.
